48 Month Veteran Reward Unveiled!

Just logged in and the "bug" didn't grant me the reward "early" either. I've been playing since day 1 of general release (nope not beta) so I suppose I have to wait until April 27th
. Strange though I didn't think, beta counted toward Vet rewards. As a matter of fact I've gotten every other vet reward the 1st day they were out. I don't remember the exact day of each of them but I do vaguely remember some of them seemed to come out a little early in relation to the date they were "supposed" based on when the game was released to come out. Strange thing is
now Im gonna be kind of embarrassed about playing between now and April 27th
Wait a second negate that.
Just checked at Play NC. It sez " Veteran Rewards Time: 4 Years, 0 Months" but also sez " Total Paid Time: 3 Years, 10 Months "
So should I have it or not?

Why would the 48th month reward be available after the update today? (Ignoring the principle that next month is actually after today. The phrasing makes it sound like immediate availability.) I have been active with no lapses from the beta, but only have 47 months right now. The date on my account page shows my retail key added on 4-28-04, so would not get the reward till the end of next month. Is there some reason that this would be different for other players from the beta, assuming no lapse in subscription?

Thus, if you're paid through April 28th, and that's your four year anniversary date, you get the reward when it goes live.

When I first saw the post for this award I was to say to least extremely pleased. I thought finally the Dev's decided to give something really cool as a thanks to the long devoted players. After reading this thread I have to say, I'm not looking forward to it anymore.
I mean damn, 10 hp -75% resistance, its a clear slap in the face. With all the AoE heavy enemies end game, whats the use of this pet. Can the pet itself be buffed?? I've also heard rumors it can only be used 3 times.

What sucks is when I switched my Beta acct over to my Live account. The first week I had to use a game card temporarily due to financial circumstances. NCsoft doesn't recognize game cards as 'paid' time so I'm 1 week behind everyone else
Course what I've heard from the VERY VERY FEW friends that are old timers like me that still play the game is the pet while neat is essentially worthless. One good sneeze will kill it

Nope. I pay annually. My vet rewards come in once per quarter and not in a rush.

Okay, so out of 8 pets, why are there only 2 different buffs?
We have 4 things that are buffable in them
Recovery
Resistance
Damage
Defense
Currently, 4 pets give Recovery/Defense, and 4 give Damage/Resistance. Why not mix it up a bit?
Rec/Def
Rec/Dam
Rec/Res
Def/Dam
Def/Res
Dam/Res
That's 6 possible combos, instead of 2.
After all, to be honest, most of my toons would want either
Rec/Dam
or Def/Res
but they're broken up the opposite way ;(

Not sure where all the griefing is coming from but this is my suggestion:
It's a pride factor for those Vets who have earned their veteran rewards (and they should be proud they've helped keep the game alive for all of us.) Why not every veteran reward, give the Vets a "3,5,9, etc. month Veteran" Badge? Those who wish to purchase the veteran rewards as a pack, do so for 10 dollars each veteran reward. Minus the veteran reward badge. They would unlock the badge once they reached the monthly goal. This way we can all distinguish the vets from those who have payed for the packs.
All I wanna know is what website I can go to buy my 18 more months so I can get these pets now!
18 months to go... No offense, but I kinda hope this is the last of the vet rewards. I'll never catch up at this rate.

Technically speaking the Devs didn't "officially" release this on the UK boards first. It was just a coincidence that one of the people who got this Vet Award early and decided to talk about it happened to be a UK player this time. 
In case you didn't know ever since the Vet Award system was established there have been a few lucky people who have been getting them even MONTHS earlier than any player should be able to. This is some kind of account date bug the Devs either can't or won't fix. What this means is that someone who gets it early typically "leaks" the info about it ASAP just like the guy on the UK board did.
This is why the Devs "decided" to openly announce that the code for this Vet Award has been "released" on the live server months early because the reality of the situation is that people have already received it via bug anyway.

That isnt the point. Many feel that the length of time they will have to wait will probably be longer than the game continues to exist, or that they are willing to shell out $15 a month for. No sense getting worked up over a reward you will never see. Kinda like purple recipes. Those are for people with the luck flag on their account set to (1). The rest of us ignore them and continue to play like we always have.

Please double the number of these summoned and make them spray internal organs all over the place when they die in pvp. That would be funnier than hell. They would last about 10 sec against the weakest attacks.
Oh, and make them generate double normal agro against npc's.

Yes, that's where my thought came from that you're getting credited for time that's paid for in advance. I'm paid through the end of March, and my vet reward time is exactly one month longer than my total paid time on my account.

The rewards are only released quarterly, you couldn't get them all in a rush (except the ones we all got in a rush when they first came out). The question is, how much "vet reward time" do you have listed in your account, and does that match up with how far ahead are you paid? Mine does.

By this logic you'd be saying a person who worked 6 months at a company should be given the same retirement as someone who devoted 30 years of his life to the company.... I disagree and think loyalty should be rewarded.
If it's just about economics, then they should give vet rewards for the amount of paid time, even prepaid up to the latest reward. I'd be willing to prepay on my accounts the months & years needed to get the latest reward.
But I think it's about loyalty, like the gold watch they used to give you when they put you out to pasture. And I have no problem with them rewarding loyalty.

As I recall, the paid time does not include free months from purchased boxes.
I bought CoH and CoV, but not the GvE edition, and my paid time is two months behind my veteran time.
How many packaged products did you purchase?

Originally, there were 2 pets: The Faeries. Then someone (may even have been me, I don't remember) brought up the fact that Faeries won't match everyones concepts and so, the Wisps were born. Then, someone suggested the Drones for Tech types and at the last minute the Oscillators were tossed in. All told, a more classic example of Feature Creep you will never find!
So, since there were only two pets originally, there were only 2 powers made. I didn't have time to make 6 more powers to match the new entities.
As for why they are so fragile, let's just say if they were at all "tough" I could exploit them horrendously. So, they are fragile. They CAN be kept alive if you are a ranged AT, but melee types will have a hard time of it.

I'm glad you didn't, and hope you won't even if you do get more time. Anything that allows me to choose the way I look without having to sacrifice the way I perform is a win in my book.
