Here is your big opertunity to fix all the worthless POS Vet Rewards from 45 months to 3 months.

What are ya gonna give out? Cuz except for Respecs, Nem Rod/Black Wand and Sands of Mu.. The rest were pretty much worthless..

[/ QUOTE ]

In your opinion. The base teleporter, team teleport, and most of the costume pieces have served one or more of my characters multiple times.

[/ QUOTE ]Ok guys lets not do this...

The devs made what they made lets not argue about which has value and which doesn't lets instead argue for the ability to choose which has worth on an individual basis so that we only get the rewards we like most or rather, dislike the least. If the game is going to be sattled with the vet reward system I think that is atleast reasonable compromise for all sides of this much debated issue.

Okay, so out of 8 pets, why are there only 2 different buffs?

[/ QUOTE ]

Originally, there were 2 pets: The Faeries. Then someone (may even have been me, I don't remember) brought up the fact that Faeries won't match everyones concepts and so, the Wisps were born. Then, someone suggested the Drones for Tech types and at the last minute the Oscillators were tossed in. All told, a more classic example of Feature Creep you will never find!

So, since there were only two pets originally, there were only 2 powers made. I didn't have time to make 6 more powers to match the new entities.

As for why they are so fragile, let's just say if they were at all "tough" I could exploit them horrendously. So, they are fragile. They CAN be kept alive if you are a ranged AT, but melee types will have a hard time of it.

[/ QUOTE ]

All my fault...sorry about that.

[/ QUOTE ]

No need to apologize, but if you really feel that bad, maybe you can buff our 36 month pets with some minor damage.

I am still very happy about the pet buffs even if they are really fragile and most of my toons are melee. It still helps the team.

Something is not working.

One day into month 49 now and no 48 month Vet Reward. My account said yesterday was indeed the completion of 48 months. I also see some people have their reward from last week.

Not a big deal, but it would have been nice to have gotten the reward yesterday, on the actual day.

The four year live Anniversary of the game is April 28th, folks that have seen this badge prior to this date are encountering something that is not intended.

Please let us know if you do not see the badge in two weeks on the Anniversary date.

Right but that was just it. It was a headstart.

It wasn't actually the OFFICIAL anniversary of the game: 4/28/08.

FAQ states:

Q: Does the free month that was included with my game purchase count towards my reward time?

A: Yes.

I've purchased and have active on my account:
Retail Apr 29, 2004
DVD Nov 12, 2004
Preorder Oct 26, 2005
Collector Nov 1, 2005
City of Heroes® Good Versus Evil Special In-Game Item Pack Oct 5, 2006
City of Heroes® Wedding Pack Feb 14, 2008

Now I'm pretty sure one of those came with one month of game time, so shouldn't my reward be coming March 29th? If not, what 'game purchase' came with a free month?

(Note: There's a separate issue with some of the purchase dates that I know to be incorrect, but assuming the dates never change...)

You're incorrect. If you purchased and activated a code on April 29th 2004, your first billing date was not until May 29th, 2004.

The Collector purchase on Oct 1, 2005 comes with a free month. I pay 6 or 12 months at a time and have since I started playing. According to the FAQ, that month of free time is credited toward rewards and according to PlayNC the free time is tacked onto the end, not the beginning (since I've already paid). I couldn't honestly tell you if I paid my first sub before or after my initial 30 free days in April, but that still leaves the Collector's edition 30 days unaccounted for as far as vet rewards go.

I'm thinking the FAQ Q&A is just worded poorly, but it reads as though that free month should count toward my reward time.

They do. Your paid time, plus your free time, should equal your total time and be the same as your veteran reward time.

I agree completely that the FAQ/documentation about how Vet Award time works is confusing at best and many people have many theories about it.

But Ex Libris drives home the fundamental point here:
[ QUOTE ]
The four year live Anniversary of the game is April 28th, folks that have seen this badge prior to this date are encountering something that is not intended.

[/ QUOTE ]
Regardless of whatever preorder/free time anyone has ever gotten from any game purchase the simple fact is that April 28, 2008 IS the Dev-defined 4th anniversary date, period. No one should have the 48 month Vet Award prior to this date AT ALL. That is pretty easy to understand. Despite what the FAQ says Free Time does NOT apparently count towards Vet Time. They are two seperate values.

Now just because so many people do get lucky and get these awards before the official anniversary dates doesn't really make it right. It just means the Devs have a lot of holes in their accounting system they either can't or won't fix. Have fun with it if you are one of those lucky people.

Ah, had not seen this post from Ex Libris, thanks.

In light of this, I propose a new position for NC Soft - The Continuity Coordinator. This person will keep a player from getting caught between a FAQ and a hard case. I feel retconned - minus the ret.

Why, because you feel entitled to something that *no one should have* yet?

I don't get it.

The anniversary isn't for another few weeks. You can live until then, just like everyone else who joined the game when you did. You're not being cheated nor singled out - you merely want something that is a glitch and now feel entitled to it, or so it sounds by your attitude. And wasn't Ex replying TO your post?

The Devs really just need to fix it so that their anniversary dates actually mean something. As it is now many people currently get these awards either weeks or months AHEAD of when they should or weeks or months AFTER they should. The award dates for many are basically randomly scattered all over the calendar.

What I've come to understand about Vet Awards is that it's not entirely based how many months you have personally either paid for or gotten for free. What also factors into it is the actual physical months that have passed. The actual passage of time is just as important as the money paid if that makes any sense.

So given that point of view it makes perfect sense that NO ONE should be awarded the 48 month Vet badge until at least 48 months have actually passed in the history of the game being live or in their history with the game.

Hope that helps sort things out.

I don't have anything against Veteran rewards. But why not make them available to everyone? institute an optional way of purchasing the pack similar to the wedding pack.

[/ QUOTE ] Because that would make them less "Veteran" if you could just buy them. They are a Reward for Veteran's of the game those of us who have stuck around for a long time. I am kind of proud of the fact I have been here long enough to get some of the higher rewards. I started playing this game in June of 2004 and have played ever since without any gaps. I think of the Veteran Rewards as tokens of appreciation from the Dev Team for those that have not moved on to other MMOs and I like them the way they are. If a person could just buy them then that would cheapen their meaning for a lot of us I think. Just be patient and wait your turn and before long you will have what you have earned.
