Sounds like Issue 19 is like Issue 15 and will go directly to Open Beta.

And I'm also guessing that what was planned for I19 has been moved back to I20. If that's the case, then it's good for several reasons. Like, we get I19 earlier than we probably would've before and this would give the devs more time to get the next Incarnate phase ready.
But that's just my speculation.
I do like how I've been the only person to think this is a bad idea/hate that i19 is pretty much being skipped. Yet the party pack had like 16 pages of lolz in half a day. This just seems like a bad direction for the game :\ I'll wait it out, but a group of my friends and I have been saying for a long time that i19 is the game's last chance for us.
|
And my thoughts on all the news? I like it. I like it a lot. Of course not everything is going to work out perfectly, but I think I'll enjoy the new content/changes.
The game is too easy, but it's not too easy because Stamina will become inherent.

IMO this game does not take much skill at all. What separates the 'average' player from the 'elite' player is knowledge. A monkey can stand next to a boss or in the middle of a mob and click some buttons to defeat them. That isn't hard. Where the 'better' players have an advantage is knowing how best to slot their characters to maximize their strengths and what enemies and how many they can handle and how to take advantage of the AI.
I'm trying to see if Ransim mistyped. If the I20 CB does start next week, then either I19 won't have a CB phase, or it's been going on this whole time without an announcement.

Here's what I'm thinking.
Issue 19 Beta will take place on the EU and US Training ROom (Test) servers. Issue 20 requires a signed NDA form for the closed beta. So that I think would narrow it down to the US side. The US side have a beta server that was used for Going Rogue. Now, it requiring a signed NDA form tells me it's going to be pretty big, and here's me looking at that first digit in the issue number. Issue 20. Yeah. That's what I'm thinking. v2, baby. |
This is my speculation as well. When the Alpha Slot was pulled, one of the things Posi (I think) said was that they might release it as a mini-issue or something. So I'm guessing that I19 is now the Alpha Slot, the content connected to it, and whatever else is ready for release (tip missions, fitness, etc).

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
Fitness being made inherent is certainly interesting.
Although I'm not looking forward to the respec I'll need to make on my Stalker. At the same time this will be really nice for Stalkers as it will help to open up Stalker Builds.
To be honest though, I am hoping that this won't be enforced for every existing build. Although it would certainly help some of my characters by freeing up a couple slots, I think most of them would probably end up taking Fitness anyway just for a lack of anything else to take. The only benefit I'm seeing here is not having to sit around and wait for endurance to recover (or use Rest if it happens to be up) at low levels. if you define "too easy" as "less tedious" then yeah I guess that would make things too easy.
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
If this is the new Appex outfit, I already hate it.
EDIT: No offense to the devs, but you should probably have contest for designing heroes/villains. |
Sorry but I've been waiting a long time for the stuff I "want". I understand the hate for people who don't love everything the devs do, but some of us are sick of waiting for basic things. We're also tired of them catering to people who will praise them for any move they make.

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

Actually, you're both doing that. While I don't agree with them, it's perfectly acceptable feedback to state that you don't wish for the fitness pool to be inherent. Many people over the years have argued against making the Fitness Pool inherent.
And the reason that PC Guy states is true. This will open up some builds. What he ignores is that I greatly doubt that we will be offered more slots to go along with the three extra powers we can take. That's going to make building more thoughtful, not less. More fun IMO, too because you're going to have to do a fair bit of the "min" work in Min/Maxing. |
Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
I hope that there's more mission content related to the Alpha Slot then just the TF. I'd rather not have the only incarnate missions being stuff I can't reasonably do (being teaming impaired).
|
I'm on the fence about the Fitness Pool. Guess it'll stop all the complaints.
Well, some of them anyway.
Well, until everyone finds something else to complain about.

I just hope that whatever solo option they decide for the Incarnate stuff is meaningful and reasonably challenging. I think this system will be a big failure if it is like during GR beta and amounted to no more than minion farming.
|
(I doubt you'd need to do the TF to get the slot, because I suspect the difficulty in the TF will be ramped up a little to take the slot into account.)
I love everything the devs give me! Thank you sir, may I have another!

That said, Praetoria will keep me entertained for at least a couple years, at the pace I play. So from my perspective, they can take their time. But I understand many players urgently want end game content.

To be honest I don't like the idea of Fitness being inherit but I have no argument against it with weight. I'm just really hoping I can still slot it the way I like on those supers that I have that already take it.
There's also nothing at all wrong with ceasing to pay for a service that you no longer think is worth it. /ragequit may be mock-worthy, but quitting because you're bored is perfectly reasonable. We have no obligation to stay subscribed.

Sorry, your post wasn't that harsh, but I'm used to seeing people say "get out" when others don't like something.
psst- :P I also believe there should be a few complaints in all the dev love. It helps to balance it out.

So I woke up angry at something, so I should just quit? I've gotten past my dev anger issues before :P i13-now. I do like to vent though, and pushing me out the door isn't best for the game.

this game is already very easy on 4/8. making stamina inehernt makes it much easier and takes away alot of what was fun/challenging about making builds.
|
My one concern is what are they going to take away from us in the name of "balance," over this fix. It'll be something big and unpleasant, I'd bet.
The more I think about this, I'm leaning towards the Fitness Inherents being slottable. Why? The Performance Shifter Proc IO. Castle has stated a few times in the past that this IO was designed specifically for Stamina- I really doubt that they would invalidate that popular IO as well as the Miracle, Numina, and Regen Tissue Procs.
(OR at the very least, give each power the default slot only- that would create some interesting build choices...)
As for this being a mini issue AND some people already.. well.. whining about it- welcome to the real world. GR was a HUGE Undertaking on the programming side and the Incarnate System looks just as manpower/resource intensive. Rather then give us nothing till the I system is ready, they are giving us what they have and throwing in some goodies to make up for it. (I wouldn't be surprised if the Fitness idea started as "if this is what we have ready we better give em something quick& easy & what they've asked for"). You must have missed the comment about more Tip missions. If they keep up the level of writing present in the Existing Tip missions- I'll be quite happy.
Not Every release can be a blockbuster, nor can player desires and wants be EASILY translated into content. But I have YET to see a issue release where the devs didn't listen and at least attempt to give as much as they resonably can to playerbase wants.
"Well, there's going to be some light music and a short note of apology saying, 'The universe ended last week, we're really sorry, we don't know what you're doing here, didn't you get the message?'"- Steve Moffat
After thinking about it for a bit, I'm totally in favor of making fitness inherent. Let's face it: it was the one power pool you *always* took. In fact, up until the martial arts booster and ninja run, almost all of my builds just took one "travel" pool and the fitness pool. With the need to pick up fitness out of the way, I think we'll see a lot more variety in builds. I think we'll actually see more players dip into the lesser used pools like Fighting, Concealment and Medicine. We may even get a few people experimenting with--Dare I say it? Dare I? I dare!--Presence. OK, maybe that last one is crazy talk.
