Quote:These are the horses that die from dehydration while swimming.A few weeks ago I saw the same group of characters standing around a certain contact spamming LFT for a specific mission for 45 minutes to an hour.
Another time I've watched half a dozen "Stand and Spam" LFTer's whining to each other about how the server sucked because no one was running DfB's.
Before Freedom they'd SaS in AP for MA farms, and before that they'd SaS in PI.
And every three to four months someone comes to the forums and complains how such and such server is dead, or suggests the servers be merged because they "can't" find teams.
So I have to disagree about hyperbole being used. Of course it is possible that the people making those complaints are exaggerating about how hard it is for them to find teams, but if we say that to them then we are the big bad internet bullies. -

Quote:Not stupid.Hello everyone!
I appreciate the feedback youve all been given here and on the beta forums. Ive just made the following changes:
1) Statesmans Pal will remain Statesmans Pal and will be given out when completing A Heros Hero, the original Maria Jenkins arc, in flashback
2) Positrons Pal will be given out when completing, A Heros Epic, the new Maria Jenkins arc
3) Sister Psyches Comrade will remain the same and be given out when completing Psyches task force in flashback once Issue 23 is launched.
4) Penelope Yins Friend will be rewarded when completing her new task force
5) The Task Force Commander badge will be rewarded by having either Penelope Yins Friend or Sister Psyches Comrade
Thanks again for all your feedback!

This was a stupid solution. The people who thought renaming the badge (probably cause it was easier) are stupid people who do not get the fan base at all. This is Sourcefed "Stooped vs Stewpid" level here.

Quote:I'd imagine the real issue (if there is one) wasn't made obvious till it was live and there was enough players active on servers to show the issue. There might have been no sign of the issue until work went into capes. Also a fair assessment. However, doesn't the existence of just one set mean the devs had to, at some point, have said "Well, here's the deal... This could cause the server some severe problems if too many people wear it at once. Let's put it in game anyway."?
I don't see a multitude of people walking around with said arms, but they're still available- couldn't it be considered non-game-breaking to implement something like that on a larger scale?
Once again, I think the CoH server capacity/hardware capabilities has improved since launch- I don't think there's that same risk of lag, or other associated problems from loading more textures. -
Umm proving your more skilled is the point of competition and shouldn't be considered too much when balancing...you want the players with more skill to be on top, that means the system is working. If skilled players are being trampled by noobs the system is broken. PvP balance should be a purely RNG game.

Quote:Not even gonna give a passing shrug to bows huh? There's a rifle, pistol, claws (hand blades) and all swords option. (not sure if there's a mace or axe in there, sorry guys).
Moving forward, and ClockworkO1 can confirm this or correct me, all sword like objects will be built on the Titan Weapons measurements. This allows them to be easily scaled for use with all Sword types. -

Going back to this I don't think we can use CoH AI as a reasonable measure of set performance in any fashion. Even if it had a serious power prioritization overhaul the fact it just doesn't see the game as we do or even play by the same rule set makes it unreliable.

Quote:So I'll drop the actual names from this as to not continue on a tangent you have no interest in.Well the reason I'm not interested in that is that the point was very much not to discus whether those two powersets are balanced. The point was to counter a claim that if they don't both having benefits of some kind that people actually value, that's fine, because real balance is impossible. That's not valid. If one powerset (or AT) doesn't have any benefits people actually want, then either it should be given some or the system adjusted so that the capabilities it has are more valuable.
If two sets are relatively balanced to not give a notable advantage but one just doesn't appeal to as wide of an audience that is fine. Not every set has to have a huge fan base if it's not broken. But if players don't like a set because it under preforms that is an issue. -
It doesn't, you'll have to talk to someone else to discuss hypotheticals I'm only currently interested in how actual powers work and play off each other.

Quote:I know you don't want to get side tracked but I can't PM you.But AR was consistently viewed as largely under-performing in pre-I13 PvP. In that context, high accuracy was less meaningful since there was no Elusivity for Accuracy to strongly counter. Moreover, damage resistances were not normalized across types, and L/S resistance was the one resistance type all ATs could get. I that context, that left range as its only real advantage, which, while useful in pre-I13's high-speed PvP, was not seen as sufficiently useful to counter the degree to which it was resisted.
Do you currently PvP (sorry if I missed that part earlier)? -
Quote:AR has better range and accuracy then Fire...the balancing point would be where two bots using the power sets both unslotted and identically slotted had an even chance at winning. If this is true then it just comes down to player skill and slotting choices.Again, "balance" does not mean what you seem to think it means. In fact, it is completely possible to make a powerset do something that makes it desirable. AR need not do as much single-target DPS as Fire Blast, but it should do something that makes people want to use it instead. If it is considered suck-tastic in all functional regards, then something is, in fact, wrong with it, and it should be changed.

Quote:Since I13 I think most of the vocal and caustic PvPers went away, but the PvEers had no reason to go so now the scales are lopsided. I can't say how it is in zones anymore but there were some really rude PvPers in the past on Justice.Reposted the link. Thanks, I typed up the wall of text on a word program and it copied over all messed up.
Caustic attitudes of PvPers... idk... man. I see a lot of it going the other way as well. Also, not ALL PvPers act that way. I don't think I have ever flamed a PvEr. -
I used to only PvP when MNP went because I liked trying to not get noticed while I buffed and healed him. I didn't get upset when I did get spotted and killed (normally I got spotted and they died for taking their eyes off the scrapper) and I enjoyed the interaction even though I was a runner not a fighter.
But then they changed PvP and when MNP tried it he didn't like the changes and now not only has he stopped going to the zones to PvP he no longer goes to get the powers either (when he bothers to play at all). So now I don't go into PvP zones. Issue 13 killed PvP for me. -
Or "Hey guys do you think calling it Mot Cemetery will give too many people clues?" "Yeah lets be all clever and throw an h in there to totally fool everyone." (either in game or out of game)
