Do we know for sure there were shots of the Mecha set in today's ustream? Given how quickly they pulled the pics from the forum last week I don't know if the Devs are still "acting weird" about not wanting anyone to see them yet.

My big gripe is that they had an opportunity too post the images for that set, but no, we get the bland looking chain mail set, whee! It's not like I've wanted a Mecha Set for YEARS now, no...

Clearly they are being extra "secretive" about it so I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they have still not "officially" released any pics yet.

yeah, I commented on facebook that I found the chainmail set kind of underwhelming, like it was really meant to be an underlayer for something else, not a standalone set. You know it's rather uninspiring on its own when even the promo pic has to show it mix and matched with parts from other sets, just to make it look good.
I'm really sick of NPCs getting the cool stuff, while we get less than the lowest of minions when it comes to these sets.

I'm really happy that it looks to be a no-frill, chainmail base for us to use. That is actually a really important ingredient for mixing and matching and making costumes in this game. |

While I love some detailed decorative stuff, I also love basic, generic starting points. And that is actually something that people have been reminding them to deliver on too.
I'm sure we'll be getting a lot of detailed and fancy options as well.
I'm wondering if these sets will be a bit light and that is possibly why we're getting two (leather and chainmail).

My own opinion: I love the look of the chainmail, looks exactly like I'd expect it too. The coif is just awesome and that alone may motivate me to make a knight themed character at long last. I like how it's basic enough to be combined with other pieces (robes spring to mind). Something closer to a tunic or surcoat would work wonders with it as well, *cough cough*.
As for the leather, I'll have to have a closer look at it once it gets on the beta servers, bit hard to make out any detail with the colour it is. Seems good for the rogue/ranger style, again in combination with other pieces - leafy chest detail, bracers, etc.

I'm excited for these new sets. I just hope we are getting a chain mail skirt.
That chainmail does look nice; I've a bunch of characters who'll use that.

The pattern for chain mail armor DOES look nice, but is there any chance we'll be getting it for baggy tops and tucked-in bottoms, too? Or if not baggy tops, maybe a robe variant? I'm looking at it, and wondering where the padding is, so I'm kind of hoping for the other types to created a more under-padded look.
