  1. My time has finally come.

This will be my final official communication as a member of Paragon Studios and a representative of NCsoft. I've made the decision to spend some time focusing on family and the job hunt, mostly family . While I love what I do, it often times results in long hours (especially in the weeks leading up to the announcement) and I feel like it's important that I spend some additional time with the wife and kiddos before I jump into my next great adventure.

I've got all of the squishy, touchy, feely stuff out of the way on the other thread, but I just want to reiterate how much being a part of this Community has meant to me. You guys and gals are amazing, inside and out. Much like the team here at Paragon, I have, and hope to someday again, walk through fire with all of you.

This isn't goodbye. I'm staying in gaming. I love building amazing online Communities around games and don't see myself doing anything aside from this. The social experience is why I play online games, and this is where my passion lies.

    So until next time...

I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that such leadership is "all" it will take. A lot of other things have to fall into place - the best leader in the world might not be able to get NCSoft to play ball. But the leadership is in place, and "someone else" is indeed working on saving the game.

Nothing at all might come of it, but people are trying.
To elaborate: The leadership here at Paragon is, and always has been, top notch.

I can assure you that there is no lack of drive or passion from our leadership.

I do not know the answer to this question unfortunately. I would recommend contacting support in the case of either result.

I would still contact Customer Support regarding this. It's possible they might consider refunding at least a portion of the points purchased. Unfortunately I can't say with any degree of certainty if they'll consider individual cases.

    No clue.

The folks in Customer Support should be able to answer special circumstance cases such as this.

Lisa, unfortunately I can't give you a yes or no answer on this one. My advice would be to contact Customer Support and see if they can assist you.

As far as the unused ones go, I imagine you're due a refund on these, I'm not certain if they would be refunded if they're unapplied to the account.

Either way you definitely should contact Customer Support and they should be able to answer your questions.

I've edited the original verbiage to remove the "full" from the statement. You will receive a prorated refund AFAIK. My apologies if there was any confusion.

You should stay flagged to VIP since you were subscribed at the time of the announcement.

At least as I understand it.
  10. As the long history of City of Heroes draws to a close we understand you have questions regarding the cessation of customer services such as recurring billing and outstanding account balances. Today we have some details regarding compensation and the refund process.

But before we get into the details, we want to personally share with you NCsoft’s sincere thanks to all of our fans that have spent time with us during the past eight years. We cannot reiterate how tough it was to make the final decision to close this wonderful chapter in our history. This has been a very special time for all of us, and we want to ensure we close this chapter with the best possible gaming experiences for everyone. To celebrate during the closing, we will host several of the popular events we have enjoyed in the past. Exact details and timing of these events will be shared shortly, as we are still nailing down specifics.

Now for the details, starting on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, all accounts which were previously subscribed as VIP as of September 1st, 2012 will be flagged as VIP for the remainder of the duration, sans recurring billing. Unfortunately we will not be able to flag any accounts that were not VIP as such during this period.

We will do our best to initiate automatic refunds Wednesday, September 26, 2012 for those customers who previously paid for either a recurring subscription or purchased Paragon Points using either credit cards or PayPal™ as set forth below:
    • Outstanding subscription balances as of September 1, 2012 will receive a refund to the payment method used for the original purchase
    • Customers who purchased Paragon Points after August 24, 2012 will receive a refund to the payment method used for the original purchase
For customers who previously paid using Game Time Cards with outstanding subscription balances as of September 1, 2012, please contact support (https://support.cityofheroes.com/app...tail/a_id/8848) with your name, City of Heroes account name and phone number. Once support calls you, please be prepared to supply them with this additional information to receive a wire transfer for the remaining balance:
    • North America - Financial Institution, Account Number and Routing Number, and the 20-digit game time card applied to said account.
    • United Kingdom - Sort code, Account Number and the 20-digit game time card applied to said account
    • European Union – International Bank Account Number (or IBAN), Bank Information Code (or BIC) and the 20-digit game time card applied to said account
    • In the event that a wire transfer is not possible, you may request to be mailed a check instead
Players requesting a refund for a GTC in either of the above manners should anticipate their funds within 14 calendar days once approved.

Thank you for your support and patience as we work to smoothly close this chapter with the sunset of the City of Heroes franchise.

  12. Update: I'm working on some messaging regarding the cessation of player services right now. There's some details that are still being worked out by NCsoft, but I would expect something in the next few days.
  13. As much as I understand what and why you're asking for this, unfortunately this would require engaging the Seattle web team which, at this point, is highly unlikely.

    Sorry .
  14. Kill em with kindness .

    Thank them for their viewpoint.

Acknowledge that, from their point of view, it makes sense.

And then explain why you're all very different from what has been portrayed.

Wait...I think I just told you all my secrets of Community Management.

    Drat.

  16. That looks very much to me like the "standard response" from customer service.

At this point I've not received any details regarding a refund process, what you can get a refund for or how to go about requesting one. As soon as they pass along those details, myself or whomever is left will definitely communicate that.

For now, I can't do anything but advise you to wait until NCsoft has communicated that information.

FWIW, I'm very sorry that they haven't communicated this information and have passed along your frustrations.

You should upgrade to LED. They're much softer than CRTs.
  18. It's still technically 9/6 here in CA at least .

As a heads up; We still do not have final details surrounding VIP status or the state of player services moving forward. As soon as NCsoft provides an update myself or another of the remaining team will update and hopefully answer any questions you may have.

    Best,

  19. Unfortunately this is appearing due to a bug with the store publishing process.

So everyone is aware: There will no be no new releases to the Paragon Market prior to the planned date of November 30th announced by NCsoft.
  20. I want everyone to please temper their expectations with the word "discussions". Please, don't take this to mean more than it does, at this point in time.
  21. I knew you guys were getting hitched somewhere around this time.

Congrats sir. Tis a lovely time to have an anniversary (mine is tonight).

I'm humbled, and thrilled that we could play some small part in your lives. And as for the game design position; never give up. Keep sending out those resumes and keep trying. I did it for over 5 years and it was worth every minute I spent emailing, going to shows, going to conventions and finding some way, any way, to make it into this industry.
  22. The projects have been cancelled.
