Hey, at least it's not a slap in the face, right?

A slap in the face is less insulting.

If you were subbed, you'd be getting one token a month.

Unless you were to spend tokens on crap like the "summon statesman" charges, you'd have stored up plenty by now.

Unless, of course, you're not at the tier 9, which I forgot about.

Nevermind!

That's 6 new powersets a year. Or 3 new powersets and 6 new costume sets a year. You have control over how you spend those points. Points you get for just simply subscribing to the game.

To limit the amount of trouble I'm going to get into I'm just going to link to one low res screenie that was
taken on test before the set was removed -for further polish, here. I can't wait. =]

Honestly, they all kind of remind me of Virtual On, but then I never really watched Gundam as much as I played that game.

I'm sorry that you failed your "sense motive" check, try putting more points into intelligence. I indicated that I was a VIP at one point. I wouldn't mind buying the set, but at +$200 (to get the rest of the tokens) PLUS an extra $45-60 to get the set before it's gone, that's pathetic. I wouldn't mind if it was free for VIP either, as I'm only not a VIP because I can't play enough at the moment. I was going to re-sub for the summer, but now, screw it.

I was about tier 3, maybe going into 4, I forget.

In other words, you want it for free.

I can understand being upset about Tier 9 VIP in general. I sympathize with not being in a position to obtain costume sets. But not caring about Tier 9 VIP until a set comes along you like? Yeah, that's wanting what you like to be free.

I cared about it for a long time, and I even said that it was going to be used to screw over people that are just now getting into this relic of a game, I was right. I'm just not as vocal as other people, but I saw this coming a mile away and it was only a matter of time. Part of my guild quit when Phoenix came out for the 3 year vets or super rich only, and they were right. Don't assume I just came out of the blue with this, and I already proved I was willing to pay for the costume set, just not the pathetic price NCSoft is wanting. It's a sad day when Cryptic offers me a better deal than NCSoft, but now it's here.

Do people not realize how fast they can get to Tier 9 by staying subbed these days? I think my friend who only joined about 16 months ago is *only* about 18-20 months (if he doesn't buy more stuff) from Tier 9 VIP.

Still here, even after all this time!

Who said they wanted it? It's simply an option. What they want is to give some good stuff to long-time VIPs.

You know the plan is to cycle the rewards back around right? So if you just continued to play as normal you'd eventually have enough tokens to get the thing and it'd eventually come back around for you to pick up.

Alternately, if you absolutely need it now and have the $200 to spend to get yourself up to T9 you'd not only have enough points to last you for a good long while, but you wouldn't need to spend that extra to get the points. Well, not if you were planning on being VIP over the summer already anyway. You'd have those 3 tokens by the end of it and there's almost zero chance of the set not being available by then (we've had the celestial set for over half a year already).

There's actually been a couple of times where I've put a token in so I could summon a tank or damage dealer. One time in particular was annoying. I was trying to fight Noble Savage with a plant/storm controller ... I spent a good 15 minutes trying to kill the guy to no avail.

They can do that and still sell it as a $10 costume pack to other players like they used to do. I'd buy that, maybe even go to $15 if it makes them happy ($20 if there's light/heavy types)

but this? This is just insulting, on an entirely new level. This is the stuff that Playfish, makers of Farm Town and Pet Society pull.

I'm nearly positive it's a Katana.

On further exam, I agree that can't be Beam Rifle. It just looked like a beam/ray coming out.

There is a hard to make out hilt/guard section, I think. It's too big to be a Katana, imo. Methinks it's a Titan Weapon laser/beam blade thingy. They did mention new weapons for the set, so that has to be new for the pic.

You only say that because you're on the inside of the Patrician bubble, looking out.

If the tone of your entire post didn't make me want to say, "cry more," this sentence would've done it for me anyway.

Sense Motive is a Wisdom-based skill, noob.

@Draeth Darkstar
Virtue [Heroes, Roleplay], Freedom [Villains], Exalted [All Sides, Roleplay]
Code:
I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30))
Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.

Clockwork 01 in the deleted Mecha Costume Set Beta thread stated that new weapons were being worked on for the mech set and that the new work flow for new melee weapons going forward was to create the Titian weapon model first and then scale that down for use with dual blades, broad sword and katana.

Anyway I think that picture is a new Titian weapon and it will be available for the other sword sets as well.

You can like or not like something. I get that you don't like this.

But calling it insulting? That's just a weak attempt to shame Paragon into doing what you want. I have yet to see a credible criticism that mentioned being insulted.

The Mecha armor is designed for VIP players that have played for a long time, or are spending a lot of money. This is completely unfair because the set will be gone soon, and very few people, especially in this economy, can afford to instantly become Tier 9 elites. If this does not seem like a "haha, you're poor" stunt by NCSoft, what would?

If you're already tier 9, you don't have anything to add to this conversation.

They look good ~ I'm not much into mecha stuff except maybe Jehuty from Zone of the Enders 2, being my only favourite.
