Dunno why people keep assuming this rumor is true. Everyone on both sides (Paragon and Cryptic) have debunked it.

    Swan song

The Wanted - Glad You Come (specifically the cover by Tiffany Alvord on YouTube)

This song pretty much puts into words exactly how I feel about the game. I plan to have it playing on the last day.
  3. You would have my full support in this endeavor. Every cent I could muster. Even if I had to sell objects from other hobbies, they all are nothing in comparison to my love for City of Heroes. Above all else, this game is what I need in my life. (Well aside from food, clothing, shelter, etc... but that's not being discussed right now ;P)

    Let's hope NCSoft listens.
  4. /Signed! I only have one character left with the Pursuer/Elusive badge and would love to be able to copy it over to the character I actually collect badges on.
  5. It's shared bonus XP. Nothing like the Level Pacts. All the power does is give you a temporary 50% boost to your XP gain and a single-use power you can use on someone else to give them a temporary 50% XP boost as well.
  6. Personally I'm all for this idea. I took IDF Lore Pets on my main because there were no Vanguard Lore Pets. Then they expanded Lore Pets and included Vanguard. So now I have a tier 3 IDF Lore power that I will likely never use again. If I could get those components back I could at least use them for something else.

Valkyries fit with the theme I'm going for. They're winged creatures of mythology.

The first definition of an Angel in Merriam-Webster's dictionary:
    Quote:
a spiritual being superior to humans in power and intelligence; especially : one in the lowest rank in the celestial hierarchy
Other definitions from other sources describe them as celestial messengers or guides. Valkyries are guides in Norse mythology, leading warriors from their deaths to Valhalla.

I was thinking some staff animations would work but also we have the thrown spear animation from the Cimerorans. I think working from those they could easily come up with a few thrusting animations as well. Think thrusts would be easier to animate than the spins and such Staff Fighting gave us.

Fair point. Will rename those. Any ideas for a different name for Solar Flare or Divine Wrath?

Also thank you for bringing up ingame instances of what I'm asking for. Really helps.

Of course I'm not a Dev... *shrugs*
I believe Hit Streak (or whoever it is who runs Freedom Friday on Facebook these days) mentioned last week that one of the devs brought up the idea of Angelic Summoning recently. So it may very well be on the table, though of course not for some time.
  10. That's one reason I suggest using the Magic: The Gathering style of angel. They're non-secular. (except maybe the Valkyries being Norse)

We already have a large variety of gods and demons in the game, and angels don't belong to any single mythology. I personally don't see what the problem is if it takes a vague route.

Not sure I follow what you mean by 'a political message'?
  12. I know this has been suggested quite often ever since the announcement of Demon Summoning but during a moment of clarity in my tiredness this morning I thought of something I think could be a fun set for Angelic Summoning.

To make it clear, as far as the summons are concerned, I'm imagining the pets appearing visually similar to the Magic: The Gathering style angels. The ones that wear armor and carry swords into battle.

The powers I came up with would be something like the following:

Cosmic Bolt - Ranged, Minor DMG (Fire/Energy), Foe -Defense, -ToHit
Summon Angels - Use a combination of 'Divine' ranged attacks and Broadsword melee attacks
Celestial Light - Ranged, High DMG (Fire/Energy), Foe -To Hit, -Res
Bless Angels - First upgrade. Visually represented by giving a halo to the angels.
Solar Flare* - Ranged (Cone), High DMG (Fire/Energy), Foe -To Hit, -Res, Stun
Summon Valkyries - Use spear-like melee and ranged attacks and provide Leadership-like damage and resistance (or damage and ToHit) buffs to other angels.
Divine Wrath - Consume secondary effect buff to PBAoE increase speed, recharge, and damage of pets.
Summon Archangel - Uses fiery ranged attacks and powerful melee attacks with a large (Titan Weapon scale) sword.
Exalt Angels - Second upgrade. Visually represented by applying an aura to the angels. Alpha for Angels, Beastly Rage (without breath) for Valkyries, and Bio Plasma for Archangel.

The gimmick would be somewhat similar to Beast Mastery's Pack Mentality, in that it stacks with each attack of the Mastermind and the pets. The secondary effects of each attack (debuffs, stuns, etc., this applies to pet secondary effects as well) will start small but as this buff is stacked they increase in effectiveness. I was thinking that maybe this could also apply (albeit at a much smaller rate) to secondary powersets, but then that could be potentially too overpowered.

The Fortify Pack/Gang War/Hell on Earth/etc. level power would consume these secondary effect buff levels to increase the movement and attack speed of the pets and provide a small damage buff as well.

Feedback appreciated. Just please be nice :P This is my first attempt at 'designing' a powerset.

*Solar Flare was the best name I could come up with for the attack at the time. Open to other suggestions that might fit better.

    I do............... *Cough*

Can't wait for these to come up on Beta so I can get a better look at them. I've got some ideas in mind for some of the parts. I'm a fan of Gundam and other Japanese mecha so this is just plain cool to me.

Also, anyone know what the non-combat pet or chest emblem are gonna look like? I'm assuming the pet's gonna look like the guy in the middle of the promo pic, but not sure about the chest emblem and other stuff.
The chest emblem is the Statesman Star type emblem on the 'heroic' guy on the left.

Looking forward to getting my goodies
  17. The way I see it is that we're getting way more powersets way more often by paying for them individually than we did getting them free in individual Issues.

Not taking into account powersets an archetype launched with or had proliferated from another archetype (so only counting powersets added to the game after the fact), we got Sonic Blast/Resonance and Archery/Trick Arrow in Issue 5, Thugs (Masterminds) in Issue 7, Dual Blades and Willpower in Issue 11, Shield Defense and Pain Domination in Issue 13, and the four powersets that came with Going Rogue (though arguably those aren't 'free' powersets). So after launch we got 4 powersets in 2005, 1 in 2006, 2 in 2007, 2 in 2008, and then 4 in 2010.

With/After Freedom's launch we've gotten Time Manipulation, Dark Control, and (if you want to count them as new powersets, despite mostly being comprised of powers copied from other sources) Dark Affinity and Dark Assault as free for VIP sets. That's 2 (or 4) free powersets in less than a year since Freedom's launch, which is essentially putting us back on track with the same number of powersets we got free a year.

HOWEVER on top of these free powersets we're getting even more powersets released that not only use new animations and weapon models, but totally new mechanics, too. Since Freedom's launch we've had Beam Rifle, Street Justice, Titan Weapons, Beast Mastery, and Staff Fighting added to the game on top of the free sets. We've had a total of 7 (or 9) new powersets in less than a year since Freedom's launch.

TL;DR... We're paying for them because they're pumping them out faster than they used to.
  18. Yes, please. And fix AE, while they're at it. Make it actually worthwhile again and let us use words that show up in the English dictionary again.

I think Zwill made an unintentional (or perhaps intentional? o.o) jab at the development team. If today's item is his favorite thing, and so far that item is nothing, does that mean everything on the market now is less than nothing? Harsh, Zwill. Harsh.

    Ice Slide

Personally I hate the Frost Path Aura. No matter how I color it it just looks bad. My Ice/Ice Defender just uses Prestige Power Slide along with Super Speed and Super Jump to go for the effect.
  21. Well I typically try to get Destiny to tier 4 quickly since then it's at its max duration. Then it really just depends where I feel like going to tier 4 next. Judgement and Interface basically get the next priority with Alpha somewhere in there using Shards only. Lore is the last I max out but of course I try to get to tier 3 as quickly as possible with it, though that's usually not a problem as typically I can have a tier 3 crafted before I even unlock the slot.

    Toy Bat

Years ago the Devs made an April Fools joke in the form of a temporary power tooltip in the game for a power that didn't actually exist. (or at least in no way the players could obtain. Whether a dev is capable of obtaining it I'm not sure.) This power was Toy Bat.

    Quote:
This bat is covered with a soft foam-like material cushioning its impact. The toy bat does Trivial damage to villains, but can also be used against allies for no damage. And lets face it, some of your 'friends' deserve it. It can be used up to 99 times before breaking.
Sounds like fun doesn't it? Could be really fun for a clown-themed character. Recently we got the Flying Disc (*cough*Frisbee[tm]*cough*) in the Paragon Market as simply a fun power. Just something to target your friends with. Much like Snowball. I think that a purchasable Toy Bat could be just as fun. They could even remove the (already low) smashing damage it does and just have it like Snowball. Can target friend and foe alike but does nothing but an animation to either.

Let's make this joke a reality through the power of the Paragon Market!

    .........

And after that we can tackle [Vomit]

  25. I was working on adding the new female hair from the Pocket D pack to one of my characters when I got to one of her outfits that has her wearing a Steampunk Jacket over a Steampunk Corset and the tailor forced a change on the chest detail. I thought 'Okay, no problem, I'll just add the corset back on'. And that's when I noticed something was off with her scales. I couldn't place my finger on it at first but after doing a little messing I realized the chest slider wasn't scaling properly. So I went back and forth between looking at it with the jacket, and just on Tops With Skin.

That image shows her in the tailor wearing the corset with the jacket on the left and the corset on Tops With Skin on the right. There's a noticeable difference in shape as with the jacket she's more flatchested than other top types like the 'With Skin' option. This has to be a recent change as the outfit looks fine outside of the tailor as I haven't saved any changes to it. What I'd like to know is (a.) Has anyone else noticed this? and (b.) Did the devs do this intentionally?

I could just increase the chest slider but even then it still doesn't look the same.
