what is the smallest change that would make you quit?

Many would quit if they only allowed one characters, merged servers, etc. Major changes cause major annoyance.

But what would be the smallest change that would make you quit?

Remove one item from the costume creator?
Nerf one power?
Remove one contact?

I have so many alts that destroying one wouldn't make that much difference to me.

My biggest worry is actually adding more DxB trials so that there is no one left to team without outside of them. The devs can leave the other content, but if the players won't play anything else I will be done. Fortunately DiB does not seem to have caught on like DfB.

If the forums became free access...then I'd quit VIP and become premium

I am not serious enough about my playtime to quit over something minor. If ED and the various nerfs over the years(balanced of course by oh so many buffs) a minor thing like a changed costume part will most likely go completely unnoticed by me. I have no plans to ever delete the coh folder from my computer.

full on quit, dunno, been here a long time, its kinda inertia right now, and witht he 14 month things, I have a lot of time banked. I also have a broad enough set of characters that any change would be avoidable, if annoying. So it would have to be something huge, little stuff i just adapt to. If posi went on a massive anti-something i care about rant, directly saying people like me are not welcome, maybe that. even that is dodgy since ww is the power now, and i know she wouldn't

maybe remove the costume creator entirely and make ats wear the same outfits, but you can still customize the color, that would do it.

It would need to be something big... like wiping all of my characters.

Global channels being changed/restricted. Anybody who knows me know that the main reason i have been here so long is the community.
Global channels allow me constant access to friends/favourite people whereever i am, take that away and i'ld quit.

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

Yeah I can't really off-hand think of any single change "smaller" than this that would force me to quit.

Sure there's a lot of things they could change that would greatly annoy me, but they'd have to do many of those things all at once to push me over the threshold of making me quit.

The only change that would get me to leave the game would be if Pal was forced to rename into something else. Having that character name, and being on Virtue are what's kept me around all these (almost) 8 years - the core game is great, but the name and server are what's keeping me from even doubting keeping my sub renewing.

I can think of only four reasons I would quit:

1) The game got so dead that no one was playing any more and the developers stopped releasing content for it. In spite of people sometimes melodramatically stating that the game is dead, it's never really be even close to that point yet. If they actually shut down the servers, I'd file that in this category.

2) If I got banned for some reason. I've done things on occasion that violate the ToS. Only for benevolent purposes, never to cheat or exploit the game; mostly stuff like pulling out pixel-perfect graphics. Hopefully if I ever do anything they think crosses the line, they'd call or otherwise contact me. If they just unilaterally decided to kill off my access, I'd probably contact them and basically ask, "What the hell?" If we couldn't come to some kind of resolution, I wouldn't bother trying to create another account or anything, I'd just move on.

3) In a similar vein, if the Paragon Studios or NCsoft marketing and/or legal department did anything to try to shut down part or all of the Titan Network, I'd head for warmer waters. It was pointed out to me recently that they changed the ToS sometime around when CoH: Freedom launched. It used to explicitly state: "NC Interactive and its related Game Content Providers grant to Members the right to use the Game Content for noncommercial, personal purposes, including in connection with creating noncommercial fan fiction or fan web sites regarding the same." (section 6b)

This text was expunged from the ToS, and now it only says, "NCsoft hereby grants You a revocable, non-exclusive, license for personal and non-commercial use of Service, Content and Software that is non-transferable except as permitted [in the case of an adult registering for a minor]." (section 2c) I'm assuming that covers fan sites, but I sure felt more comfortable when they were explicitly allowed.

4) If I lost my job or got so financially strapped that I couldn't play any more, I'd have to drop it. I'd probably try to stay a premium player if possible.

----------------------------------------

Here's why I WOULDN'T quit, though: I can't imagine any kind of change in content or mechanics that would provoke me into leaving. I suppose it's possible, but geez, I'm not that hardcore a gamer. I also realize that there will never be a time when 100% of the game will be custom-tailored to appeal to me. They'd have to REALLY screw it up in a monumentally epic kind of way, I mean, to the point where it's unplayable. And no, "I can't/choose not to get that shiny!" is not monumentally epic.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

Same for me. I really can't think of anything that would make me quit.

Hmm... depends on what qualifies as 'small':

"Small" = low or minimal impact. Well, probably nothing. If I think of something I'll add it.

"Small" = simple enough to easily summarize (or very quickly implement):

Add active PvP to all zones.

I was going to say 'require teams on all content.' But now that I think about it, I'd probably just use my free accounts to get around that.

Hmmm..

Max team size reduced to 4

Sorry, while this game may have many great qualities, it remains one of the, if not the most enjoyable cooperative multiplayer experiences of any game, and I play it often with a decent-sized group of friends. The teaming experience alone is the main reason CoH/V stands over similar MMO's. And while the SSK system and shared mission completion are huge, the ability to fit the entire group on one team in most cases is a huge difference.
