what is the smallest change that would make you quit?
The smallest change I can think of that'd have a good chance: Making solo permadom no longer possible, whether through a direct nerf to Domination or reducing recharge bonuses from IOs or whatever. My Earth/Fire permadom's my only character I really enjoy playing for long periods of time anymore. Without her, it'd just be kind of, "Oh, well. I guess that's that, then."
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
It would take some rather dishonest, and dishonorable business practises to make me quit, and go freemium the perf shifter sbe bait and switch is one such case and I am now no longer supporting ncsoft/paragon studios financially
To think that because synape labeled the 20% flat chance to 3ppm formula obeying perf shifter a "bug" they feel enboldened to deny me all and any recompense for the 3ppm procs I bought for their performance level that are now only half that. Total ripoff and every attempt given to them to make it right they just keep failing to take.
Ask Jack Emmert. ED/GDN nerf-- I left for a good many years until IOs and buffs (and more content) were added back to the game.
I still couldn't play my original character: ice/storms, as it'd been altered too severely. He's now sitting on my character list....never used.
I had to roll a new character altogether.
Ice/storms was NEVER overpowered to begin with....and the ice slick nerf infuriated me. When I joined, I thought it was SO neat....a control power I'd never seen in another game and made that character feel so different....and look: there's ice on the floor!
Then the nerf on recharge and duration of the ice slick.....we could only have one slick out at a time....and I think you couldn't even summon another for a few more seconds after the slick disappeared.
So, before the nerf, we could have 3 ice slicks out at once with recharges....no one DARED stack them or you caused knock back and it negated the purpose. However, we had a unique control (at the time).....and could surround our team with slicks if we needed to in a bad situation.
And guess what: flyers/Ralaruu and werewolves honey badgered our ice slicks. (Probably more, I forget.)
I re-rolled an ice/cold recently (as that was my original concept for my ice/storms back when) and I just really didn't get into it. He's at 50....unlocked the alpha. I still prefer my blaster and stalker though.
So, ice slick is the power for me....I guess, that was altered and made me ragequit. Still can't be "fixed" because there are no "duration" power enhancers. Sad, ice slick was my favorite power.
Served Cold (ice/storms;retired controller)
Mr. True Shot (archery/devs; blaster)
Electric Potential (ele/ele; stalker)
Cold Shatter (ice/cold; meh, new controller)
Level 53: Arrows/Devices/Munitions Blaster
....and hopeless Science-Natzi.
A small change that almost made me quit was the Hover nerf removing KB protection. This was a BLATANT attempt to force us to use IOs, and I'm still actually quite peeved about it. Not about using IOs, but over something that had been in place since launch of game suddenly becoming an 'exploit" or whatever the Reason du Jour was. The Hover nerf was, and remains, stupid.
A change to IOs along the lines of Enhancement Diversity might get me out of here. I don't know. That would not be a "small change" however.
CoX getting sold to EA/Activision
If they removed the Big Red Ball from Boomtown. Yeah I know it's almost impossible to find when it spawns. And I know that getting a team together can be a pain since most players just want to beat up baddies. But the silliness, the sheer fun, and the rewards of course all make a game or two or ten of Big Red Ball well worthwhile.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
1- addition of a crotch slider
2- an 'm-preg' inspired costume pack
And maybe ...
3- turning off the servers for good. That one for sure.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

"The tip of a shoelace is called an aglet, its true purpose is sinister." The Question
If you needed to pay Paragon Points for SOs, TOs, stuff like that...would be very, very hard to accept.
Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!

If they release too many powersets too quickly and expect us to purchase them, then I'll quit. That will indicate that they no longer expect VIP players to be getting a complete game with their subscription. If I'm not getting a full game after paying a monthly sub, then I never will get it, and it would feel pointless to continue.

Smallest thing for me that might make me quit forever? Something that made me lose long held character names, such as a server merge.
So when the inevitable happens, hopefully Paragon will have worked something out regarding the challenges of unique naming.

Many would quit if they only allowed one characters, merged servers, etc. Major changes cause major annoyance.
But what would be the smallest change that would make you quit? |
Yeah, they got their hooks in good.

um...making my current toons useless every three months so that I have to buy new ones to keep up with the current restrictions on raids?

"But in our enthusiasm, we could not resist a radical overhaul of the system, in which all of its major weaknesses have been exposed, analyzed, and replaced with new weaknesses."
-- Bruce Leverett, Register Allocation in Optimizing Compilers
The bringing of raids and need of raiding to play post 50 gameplay almost made me quit.
