I'd love a Friday release, but alas, I have no popcorn to eat while watching the fun should the servers horrifically go up in flames over the weekend.

It was that or the entire dev team got called back in to work overtime at the weekend which, I can imagine, wasn't exactly fun.

A real showstopper!
While usually the sooner the better, they have never put out a full issue on a Friday. Usually they came out on Tuesdays, sometimes Wednesdays, rarely a Thursday or Monday. As others have said, they don't want to put up a patch on Friday, have something unexpected and bad happen, then have to work over the weekend to get the servers back up, or have the servers down over the weekend. IIRC they did this once for a small update and that is exactly what happened...servers went down or were really bad for a weekend. Thursdays are cutting it a little close for that same reason. Mondays are usually still coming down from the weekend and cleaning up anything that did happen over the weekend. Tuesday or Wednesday are the most likely so they have time to get stuff fixed if needed before the weekend rush.
Now that I've said this, in 20 minutes they'll post it for tomorrow launch or something just to prove me wrong.

I do remember at least 1 weekend where it was all messed up and there was much rage on the forums.

you know, after she called the 4 legged rig thing, i have begun to pay more attention to her. from what i understand she hits the big developer fan meetups often and has mentioned hearing devs talking ingame with info, so while she cant outright say things, I do sometimes think there may be wisdom in noting if she seems really sure of something. It may not be unreasonable to think that with her general omnipresence in the game and community, she might have some ears that less involved members may not have. also, april is really pretty far off, so I'd be far more surprised if it actually was that long.

That's not insider knowledge, that's just basic reasoning and paying attention.
It's very easy to make a vague prediction, followed by a winky face, and then if it happens to come true down the road, quote the long forgotten thread and then "have been right all along". What you don't see is the vast majority of predictions and vague winky statements that never came true, or were outright wrong that don't get necro'd.
