Great, now I have the Japanese Pepsiman commercial playing through my head!

... okay, so that's actually not a bad thing hehe

So, being that Zwil said they've taken their cue from other comic book deaths I foresee one of three things happening:

1. Someone else takes up the Mantle of Statesman (ala Captain America, Batman, etc)
2. States comes back as a spirit, cyborg, clone, alien, Smurf, or somethingorother
3. ZOMGTIMETRAVEL States from the past is brought into the present time.

And I guess there's always the alternate universe route where Statesman comes back as Stateswoman. Or possibly Statescatboy.

But the question that he ACTUALLY asked, not the one you answered, ( ), is will this change be TRIGGERED by playing the story arc.

The devs have said we have the opportunity to change our own world through these actions. So it's a valid question.

There's a lot more questions to be answered and story to be explored, even after his death.

And trust me, his death scene is pretty stirring.

Had to redo this post 4 times tell I realized, I should have expected this. Why would I expect them to change now. To bad I was enjoying the whole line. Sorry but all the questions and story really doesn't matter to me anymore the part that made it fun is ruined.

Not saying I won't run the content, just saying that I'll run it once and then its running the first arc for the rewards with the rest of my characters. Just another system to be used for character rewards instead of enjoyment.

And many others..
Dev's With all the Great new content, Please!! dont forget to fix the bugs with the old content. There is a storm a brewing because they are not getting fixed. If its a problem that no one is reporting them? Well Maybe you need to look at your tech support then..

So am I - this, along with the big hint at the Player Summit about Tyrant being permanently defeated, is a good sign that the devs are prepared to change the game world in quite radical ways.

Not only that, even before SSAs came out, I believe we knew who he was working for and why. But they've been pretty clear that "Who Will Die" was "Who Will Die and Stay Dead", but I think I see a way that death could be cheated that would still kill States, spread the power and still not leave Marcus Cole dead...

Same, actually. That was my first thought on clicking the link. Then I see the picture and that kinda spoiled the whole thing for me.

This is possibly the oddest thought process I have encountered lately.

"Black Pebble died today in a freak gasoline fight accident. Discuss."

This approach is something that's been planned for awhile now, taking a cue from other famous, or infamous, comic book deaths.
I figured that the main person to die was going to happen before all 7 arcs were done, but just coming out and saying it...that's dumb. I would have rather found out when I played the arc.

Then again, the freaking loading screen used in part 3 wasn't all that subtle either :\ How you guys advertise a mystery story then blow it up before it's done just baffles me.

Well, a mod posted something, contains the word Death, has the typical "dot dot dot" afterwards, and being used to the way some people around here post, it's not that illogical of a conclusion.

A SPOILER tag would not have kept the news in this thread.

It would have been being discussed in channels in game and on other boards anyway, SPOILER tag or not.

The SPOILER tag would only have applied to this thread. I still maintain that the title itself IS the SPOILER tag.
Okay, I think I got my responses muddled up.

Yes, I think a spoiler tag should have been added for consistency. One rule for a thread and one rule for another isn't right really.

But you are correct, no tag would have kept this news under wraps so the rest of my response was more annoyance over Paragon having revealed this so soon.

Apologies if that didn't come across well.

Discuss? Really? You would expect Discussion over It is with great sadness...

Just to confirm everyone knows Who will die? is a signature story arc and not some paragon studios internal death pool.

Please God yes. I would pay several months worth of subscription fees for a repeatable arc that ends this way. In fact, make it a Paragon Rewards summonable ally.

Not in the "I really cared about him all along" way, that'd be stupid, more in the fashion of "Only I deserved to kill him".
Trying to kill him is Recluse's way of showing he cares. Sending a bunch of other villains to do it is his way of trying to hide just how much he cares.

No, because the whole no capes thing was Statesman's idea and he won't be around to make the suggestion this time.

My prediction for part 6: The funeral. Recluse cries. Ms. Liberty commits war crimes. Captain Hotpants is recruited into the Freedom Phalanx. Everyone is sad. Even if you're not sad, your dialogue says you are.

Part 7: Statesman is resurrected.

Well, some folks like to give their condolences. Look at some of the memorial threads out there. Just saying, it is a possible conclusion to come to.

If Recluse doesn't have anything to do with his death, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near him, he's going to be pist. I wonder if his ego could handle the fact that someone or something else killed Statesman.

I believe the wording of the title would have been quite different if it were a report of the death of someone from either Paragon Studios (including former employees known by the community) or someone in the community. A Death Revealed.... does not seem to be a news announcement of a real world event.

Now, the title of the thread when they announced that EMpulse had left had me concerned that someone had died. I was glad to see that A Farewell and a Celebration of Life! had nothing to do with someone's death.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

Exactly thanks Xzero45

And no one said I was "normal"

I just thought it was one of the "hey someone died and wanted to let you know..."

Kind of like how they let us say "good bye" to former Paragon employees (sometimes)...

My first thought was "DUDE! SPOILERS!"

Second thought is, I want my main villain to be the one that kills him.

Calling it now:

Issue 25: Statesman Returns

And he'll have all of his costume slots unlocked.

Well, to each their own...again, I saw the title and thought it was someone in the community because of the way it was titled as you said....

I thought it was a death too...something like that would be for a "paragon employee"...whereas I saw "a death revealed" would be for someone in the community, like: "Hey we heard that x person died and wanted to just let everyone know. (S)He was dear to the community...etc etc etc..."
