Discussion: A Death Revealed....

Ms. Liberty is an obvious one to take over Statesman's place in the Freedom Phalanx - and maybe hand over the Vindicator leadership to someone else.
I think Desdemona is too busy with the Carbnival of Light right now - although whoever does replace Staetsman should be female to make the Freedom Phalanx more balanced.

I'm curious. With the reasoning behind Statesman dying being that our character gets to take his place, does that mean we'll be all butt kcikery no matter what character we're on?

Seriously, the one who takes the big heroes place is...THE BLASTER WHO FACEPLANTS EVERY SPAWN!

I like the idea of (and in my head that's how it is) player characters being this big replacement for Statesman, but does this mean they'll act like it too?

Being able to handle AV level threats single handedly and not downgrade to EB for instance, is what Statesman does. He's that big hero.

And was the reasoning really "Let's have the players take up his role" or was it "Get rid of all remenants of Jack"

It feels like it's the later, since I doubt we'll be seeing much of content spent on soloing like a big hero does. Outside of just letting the player think it because some story arc said so.

Not saying there shouldn't be content centered around big team ups even with powerhouses like Statesman in the picture, but I'm curious as to how this is going to make one feel like they're taking Statesman place.

Also, will we see complaints that this storyline doesn't fit with the streetlevel hero concepts?

We might consider that maybe States meets his fate simply to return later in the arc with a new costume.

Zwill, Paragon Studio needs to up it's ante on managing suspense both at conventions, online, and through the hints in the missions. Not the dialog but physical evidence found throughout the rooms. Torn cape of Statesman, the ''argument log'', the scratched out names, and of course the files. So many clues to find but way too easy to put them all together.


I need more brain food, this was far too easy a mystery to unravel.

Anyone else get the feeling that once we defeat Cole he will just end up on our side filling in the gap left by States? I mean are we really going to kill Cole? or is he more likely to sacrifice himself heroically making up for his past sins, either against Hami or the Armada?

My question isn't recluse linked to statesman does that means recuse dies as well? Also isn't statesman immortal?

Yeah because he isn't gonna be broke back in the last part, I called this at the beginning of the arc. This is CoXs version of The Death of Superman.

To those saying the title was enough warning:

I opened the thread after seeing the title. I expected a fluff piece reminding us that there was a reveal coming, possibly an interview with a writer about the importance of a reveal or the difficulty of writing a mystery in the massively-multiplayer genre. I did not expect, "Yeah, States is gonna bite it, but it's okay 'cause you'll be totally sad."

There was a thread that blew up over the weekend. A lot of consternation was expressed because there was a spoiler in the title. Given the general attitude there that it was better to be cautious about such things, I thought marketing would read the community more accurately.

Added to that is marketing's predilection for cheeky obfuscation.

Obviously, I made the wrong choice in clicking the thread, but I don't think it was an entirely illogical one.

So, I'm guessing that Recluse is going to be spending a lot of time in his tower, alone, moping and/or eating Hagen Daz.
