Am I right in thinking that even after 9 pages following the news of a major plot development revolving around Statesman that we haven't yet heard from either Venture or Troy Hickman?

Do we have to say their names three times before they'll appear?

Maybe Tim Tebow will be called in to bring him back to life! He's done it for the Denver Broncos.

Uh huh. He better bring his offensive line with him - they're the true source of his power to work miracles.

Also, for those of you wondering why the death is happening in the middle of the arc? Just google "plot diagram"

Just like any other winning NFL team heh...(or a really, really, REALLY good defense like the 2000 Ravens).

I do not see why people are freaking out about this, just give him a wakie and he is fixed. I think the issue is going to be the power of the well is going to kill him because he uses his full incarnate potential. Thats how I see it happening. In either case Numina can just rez him again. Death is never permanent in comics, just ask Mary Jane, Jean Grey, Professor X, Claire Bennett, Superman, the list goes on too long to name. He will be dead at the longest 6 months.

When you can win a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer as your quarterback... yeah. That's a good defense.

Also, States is dead, yeah yeah... this thread is now about football.

From past experiences, I've never seen them officially let us know of someone's death.

In one instance, their only commentary (after modding some posts) was asking that we keep details off the forums.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

If we strike him down, he will become more powerful than you could ever imagine like Obi Wan. Disembodied incarnates ftw! Or a Beerfest\Landfill return except as Country Guy! With the same outfit, powers... And liking to be called Statesman...

Ok, first the generic things, I first saw the thread tittle and just knew it had to do with the SSA. Second, I agree that it seems a bit odd to announce the death (even if a good amount of us figured it out) before the isssue hits live, but there has been some examples given as to why it was. Third, knowing the 'who' doesn't really make that much a difference to me since I believe that it's the 'how' and maybe 'why' that'll make or break the story. Saying that, I'm really looking foward to playing it to see how it plays out.

And personally, I'm hoping that his successor will be anyone BUT Miss Liberty.

Thanks to everyone that helped make me a welcomed part of the community, and for giving me over 3 years of some of the best gaming I've been able to take part in. May the next game bring many friendships and maybe reconnect to some old CoH friends.

My prediction for part 6: The funeral. Recluse cries. Ms. Liberty commits war crimes. Captain Hotpants is recruited into the Freedom Phalanx. Everyone is sad. Even if you're not sad, your dialogue says you are.

Part 7: Statesman is resurrected.
That's it - I am never going to be able to refer to Des as anything other than Captain Hotpants. Thank you for enhancing the game in ways I could never have imagined.

Considering Miss Liberty is dead, that's not happening.

MS Liberty (aka One-Alignment-Mission-Away-From-Vigilante), on the other hand... I totally agree with you.

I wouldn't mind if it was Ms. Liberty (I assume you meant her, as Miss Liberty is dead! Though I suppose he could die to bring her back), assuming this sets her straight out of a realization that she's the only one left to carry on grandpa's legacy, but I hope it's Back Alley Brawler, complete with an official invitation to the Freedom Phalanx.

I hope it's not Desdemona. I think the model they get to play her at the cons is a really cool person and adds a lot to the fun of going there, but I don't really care for the character.

Oh HELL NO! She's as BAD as Statesman. Frankly, SHE needs to die, too. As a matter of fact, they need to just kill the whole damned Primal Earth Cole Family.

It's only five pages for me, and I only just found the thread.

I don't understand why people are getting their panties in a wad over spoilers (again). Aside from the fact that you'd have to be an idiot to not realize the thread contained one, none of these characters were the slightest bit interesting when they were alive, so who really cares if they're going to die? There was no suspense in the arc either; you can make a case for any of the "surviving 8" to be the Designated Receiver so there's no point in getting invested in the story. It was practically a Random Events Plot anyway.

The only real question is whether or not he will stay dead. It would be nice to think that he will, but given how often the devs have expressed pride at embracing "comic book reality" and given the absurd tweests like (e.g.) Calvin Scott's imaginary marriage, I'm not optimistic about how this will play out.

The Devs really, really, like No-Pants, so I think it's pretty obvious that, barring a Statesman resurrection, she's likely to step in his spot to keep up numbers. However, even if she does, that doesn't mean she'd have his place in the group. Leadership would probably be passed on to Positron, or Manticore, or something.

Of course, it's also equally possible that the Freedom Phalanx will simply dissolve after all this. The group as a whole isn't really featured much outside of the LRSF, and I wouldn't be terribly surprised, especially given events off SSA4 causing a certain other change, if the LRSF and STF were simply totally revamped/replaced and moved to Ouroboros, in response to this event.

Ya Know...

Considering there's a thread out there arguing about "Spoilers", with the loose
consensus that it's mostly unwelcome if not outright rude and inconsiderate,
I can't help but wonder at the irony of you guys spilling the beans 2/3 the way
through the arc.

Epic Move.

This is what I was thinking, plus we got that new group of upstarts on both sides (Twinshot's crew and Dr. Grave's 'cronies')

So the hero-side Part 5 is pretty much auto-fail?

Ok I really don't want to go through 10 pages to read everything, but I have an idea.
When the SSAs are all done how about the devs have a funeral for Statesman, have it like they had Manticore's and Sister Pysche's wedding where they have it scheduled for a few days and a funeral pall barrier plants himself somewhere and you click on him to get in. I think that is a very good idea, please do this devs.

Not unless the entire 3 mission arc is "Don't let Statesman Die", but I doubt it will be.

Yes, I did mean Ms. Liberty, after going thru all the pages before posting, I just didn't have it in me to proofread what I typed, & honestly, I'm surprised I didn't have a lot more typos.
