    Arrow...

This was the first episode I've seen, and I thought it was pretty bad.

Really thought that Deadshot was done poorly and was a huge waste of a great character. I mean, that could have been any random assassin guy. He had no personality, nothing interesting at all... he barely ever even spoke and didn't ever DO anything. What a waste.

And the show in general - the guy playing Ollie, I like. Everyone else was incredibly bland. There was no chemistry between any of the characters or actors. The dialog was flat. The visual style was boring - there wasn't a single interesting or engaging shot in the show. And then there's the strict adherence to the law of TV that says everyone is beautiful, all the time.

I might be willing to give it another couple of episodes to find itself - maybe this one was just especially bad, or maybe it's just the first-season uncertainty that happens with a lot of shows. But so far, not impressed at all.

This isn't really a remake, though. They are adding a few things, and they are updating it to support new operating systems and higher resolution screens, and stuff like that, but it's still the original game.

The developers have made it pretty clear that they want to support as many mods as possible.

Yep - right now they are committed to PC, Mac, iPad, and Android. They want to do Linux but it's up in the air at this point.

You might want to wait until November 30 when Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition comes out.

Don't worry this isn't a rant post or a "They changed the book! Damn them!" I'm just curious how the character began departing from Jeyne Westerling during re-writes. Anyone have theories why the character needed to be what she became? Flavor? Need to give some Essos backstory? Confusion over Lannister house v. Stark house? Etc? Etc?

    Let your theories fly!
I speculate that they didn't want to have Rob laid up with a serious injury for very long, because they needed him and his army on the move. Therefore Jeyne nursing him back to health couldn't be the catalyst for their falling in love. So she had to be someone who could interact with him on a different level. Jeyne Westerling isn't actually a very interesting character as written, and I don't really buy her swaying him from his vow without some kind of special vulnerability to allow them to bond. Talisa, on the other hand, is someone who can challenge him intellectually as well as touch him emotionally, and is just an all around more interesting character.

I also suspect that it's part of the inevitable simplification of plot that TV requires that they'll be dropping the whole idea that Jeyne's mother was being paid by Tywin Lannister... it's one of those subtle points that really enhances the complexity of the politics of Westeros and adds another example of what a master manipulator Tywin really was... but in the end it isn't all that necessary to the plot and is easy to cut. And without that plot point, there's really no need to make her part of another house. She's not a Frey, that's enough to get us to the Red Wedding.

What I'm curious about is what they do with her after that. Or maybe in this version, she will be at the Red Wedding. Could be interesting either way.

He's a diehard Whovian, he's incredibly passionate about comics, movies, you name it...he just also happens to be a comedian who's parlayed his skills into making his own company, become the head of a leading internet geek news outlet, and routinely is able to score Comic-Con and other large-scale convention spots and interviews.

I will myself send him an email, but I'd urge TonyV and the Titan Network with their far more considerable resources to consider this.

I also recall a recent interview that he was involved with in which Joss Whedon was playing with the CoH character creator...

Daario Naharis. The guy's just cool.

They want to, and they have the source code. It depends on how well BGEE and BG2EE do.
  10. Somewhat related to the OP: I'm more excited about Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition (releasing one week from today!) than I am about any new game on the horizon...
  11. Honestly, in some ways, I think it would be refreshing to start over from scratch, as long as it's the whole game starting over as one. I would have never done it on my own while the game was still alive and status quo, but if everyone has to start over, it might actually be kinda cool.

Yup. I always liked her version better because mountain sounds more impressive than cliff.

If you're falling off a mountain, you may as well try to fly.

  19. Young Frankenstein (and most Mel Brooks films, really) are full of these, but the one I would have gone with is:

    "Frau Blücher!"
  20. I always thought of it as a natural disease that is just thought of as a magical or divine curse in the same way that medieval people often though disease was a curse. Then again, the world of A Song of Ice and Fire has lots of things that are real which in our world would be fantastic (but false) explanations for natural phenomena. So maybe it's both.

Sorry that is the only thing that came to mind after reading this post.
  22. I pretty much agree with what everyone else here has said - read them all, you won't regret it.
  23. I don't really understand why people want to take these great characters and this classic story and revamp it so dramatically, to the point where it shares little more than a name and some small token elements with the original source material. About the only thing I agreed with in that whole article was the idea that the X-Men should be kept in a world of their own without other superheroes.
