Discussion: A Death Revealed....
Really annoying that you guys spoiled this. Even if it's just a "comic book spoiler" in the sense that it's something else entirely..whatever this post is, is annoying.

No thanks. There's a reason I haven't bought any of those books. It's a cheap tactic and completely destroys any suspension of disbelief, tension, or desire to see a story through.

I guess I'll just be using them for farming Alignment merits from now on.

Will the phasing environment tech allow states to remain alive for those that havent completed the Who Will Die Story Arc?
A better question, What will Volume 2 be?

*sigh* I normally don't even care about spoilers (evidenced by the fact that I read the thread even though it was obviously a spoiler for the SSA), but this is huge. I don't know that I would have done this now. If you wanted to "pre-announce" it instead of announcing it the day it goes live, you could have waited until the Monday before the Tuesday it released. This way we have to live with it for at least two more weeks, stewing in our spoilerific disgruntlement. (I make words up.)

I had guessed that Statesman would be the one to die from the very beginning, it simply makes for too good of a story when the "Ubermensch" of a comic book universe dies. I was pretty sure of it after SSA#1, but when I spoke with Prometheus in Ouroboros last week and closely read what he had to say about Incarnates, it became clear that Statesman must die in order for the rest of us Incarnates to gain more power. At that point I was sure of his imminent demise.

Wade still has the "other" obelisk, which I'm guessing is hidden in Dark Astoria, and I'm also guessing that it will be used to steal Statesman's power, at least enough power so that Statesman can truly die. Is Wade a minion of Mot? Possibly. Perhaps he sacrifices Statesman in order to resurrect his God? Perhaps. Or maybe at the end we'll get an epic battle to defeat Wade after he(or his as yet unforeseen benefactor) kills Statesman. Lots of details are still unknown, great story so far though.
*save Statesman by replacing him at the last minute wif plushie doppleganger* o_o

I will have to agree with the others here. Shouldn't have spoiled it like that.

Everyone know the Tank Archetype get the most drops of all the types. This is because of their "Death Dealing" powers. I call it the front line bonus...but you'll never read this in the wiki - "Rx10"

Once it's in the game, it's an already happened.
Now, it's something that's going to happen. But how will it happen? What could possibly lead to the demise of Primal Earth's Champion of the Well? This approach is something that's been planned for awhile now, taking a cue from other famous, or infamous, comic book deaths. |
And after the long thread we've had recently about what constitutes a spoiler or not please at least put a SPOILER tag on the front of this announcement.
I really do wonder what on earth you lot are playing at some time. |
Think about it. What does the word Revealed mean?
Let's see what a Google search says about it (search term used was revealed definition):
revealedpast participle, past tense of reĀ·veal (Verb) Verb:

When they tell us they are revealing something, don't open the thread if you don't want to know what they are revealing.
Since the title was A Death Revealed.... well, it's pretty difficult to interpret that as anything other than that they are revealing an in-game death. If you don't want to know who dies, don't open the thread.
Use a bit of common sense.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Well, anyone with the slightest bit of common sense can see that the title is a SPOILER tag all by itself. A Death Revealed....

On the other hand, I don't know why, but spoilers never meant much in this game to me, so I don't see what all the griping is about.
On the other other hand, they did mod the title of Ultimus' thread from this past weekend because of spoilers, so you'd think they'd have a little more concern over their own...
"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"
"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."
Don't worry devs, it isn't ruined for me. I am very excited to see how he goes.
For those saying "you should put 'spoiler' in the title" I agree with at least one other person who said "A Death Revealed" pretty much says 'spoiler' all on its own.
Also since I've been running the contest for this, I've been told of non pigg-diving ways of finding out info from the arcs if they're in the game but not unlocked. This patch quite possibly put that arc in the game which is why they revealed it before someone else did.
I'm really regretting clicking this thread. C'mon, guys. Spoilers! You didn't have to leak this for the January sig arc.

Knowing the future ahead of time is actually a well known writing technique. (J. Strazynski used this a lot in Babylon 5). You see or know about a glimpse of the future which raises all the questions of how you get there.

To be fair, the partial quotes in the Community digest have resulted in Z outright spoiling it to anyone who just happened to be browsing that, whether they entered this topic or not.

And, that title, as I said earlier, is enough of a SPOILER tag as it is without it having who is dying in the title (now THAT kind of title would merit a SPOILER tag in my view). The wording of the title itself likely led them to think as I did that it was enough of a SPOILER tag for the thread.
Of course, everyone knows the OCR team hates heroes and uses the Villain Style for the forums. Thus they would have forgotten about what information would be seen on the broken Hero Skin.
I'm sure the Seattle web team had this particular announcement in mind as to why they kept putting off the forum fixes.

What would be nice is some consistency. If the board moderators conceded that the thread about the Shadow Shard needed a spoiler tag, this one does too.

And if you think this news would have stayed in this thread, that's just plain daft, no need to pull out the patronising dictionary definitions thank you. It's already being discussed in channels in game and on other boards I frequent.

A SPOILER tag would not have kept the news in this thread.
It would have been being discussed in channels in game and on other boards anyway, SPOILER tag or not.
The SPOILER tag would only have applied to this thread. I still maintain that the title itself IS the SPOILER tag.
