Question: What powers do you want Alternate animations for?
I here-by support the 'origin-ification' of certain vague powers. By this, I mean making animations for power sets with specific origins in mine. Take, for example... any elemental set. So, perhaps... someone wanting to create a Fire Blaster with a tech origin can set their animations with that in mind. Fire sword pulls out a lightsaber-like device and fire extends from it.
Although... adding a device like this may cause complications and a little heat. If you add redraw times, people won't like that... but if you don't.. and incorporate the devices appearance into the powers activation time... Assault Rifle and Dual Pistol fans will be angered that they have to deal with redraw while others don't.
By the way, while we're on the subject... could you please... at the very least... remove the mindless redrawing? I don't mind regular redrawing.... saw you have Assault Rifle and use a temp that pulls out a bow. That's fine. That's more realistic.....
But to drop my Assault Rifle so I can use a mind power? And all I'm doing is clenching my fists? No. Just..... no. Even if they have to concentrate really hard... you can do that while holding a friggen gun in your hand.
I didn't read through all 18 pages, so most or all of these will be repeats, but here we go:
- Alternate hands on single-handed powers, like the tier 1 blasts. Dual Pistols does this, and looks cool, but the other t1s don't as far as I know.
- Medicine pool > Different animations for each origin (But not necessarily tied to origins). Special crystal or a wand for Magic, throw a prescription bottle or pop a pill for Natural, etc.
- Fire/Ice Breath > Something. Anything. I HATE how these powers look on 95% of my characters that use them. Something more like Energy Torrent would work.
- ____ Punch > Make the 'overhead-double-fisted-invisible-sledgehammer' animation into an actually punch.
- Fire/Ice Sword > Axes, T-1000 style elemental blades, different swords, as much variety as possible.
I love Gun fu by the way, it's just not for everyone.
But in the spirit of over the top Wuxia animations, how about some crazy awesome weapons set animations?
Broadsword, Battle Axe, War Mace: Barbarian Style, slow yet powerful two handed strikes. Look at any D&D handbook and you'll see what I mean: A barbarian with a massive weapon about to SMASH some poor kobold or something. Poor kobolds...
Broadsword, Katana: Flashy Style. Fast, acrobatic strikes designed to look deliberately over the top. Backflips, swirling blades, tossing your blade up in the air. You know, like this.
Alternates for the Fire Sword attacks (and maybe the Ice sword, though it does not irritate me as much). Fire Sword looks great for my djinn character, and awful on most every other fire based alt I have. Firey open hand attacks, firey whips, something....

granted taking as long to cast is fine.. just find the new anim... well good for BAB bad for me who has been using the other anim most of my career so to speak
heck an open palm strike instead of fists closed with the set would be nice...
or touching with just the fingers to release the attack ie energy does dmg not the physical attack (mechanic wise not really but it would look cool) borrow from kinetic

Crab Spiders/Bane Spiders
Crab/Banes should not use Guns anymore once they hit lvl24 and choosed the Way to go. Once you hit lvl 24 there should be alternate Weapon Animations in the Soldier Pool. One variation that uses the Crab Pack if you choose Crab Spider and one that uses the Mace instead of a Gun, if you choose the bane Spider.
For me it would be OK to use the Crab/Bane Spider Animations for it. Think this would be the easiest way and it could be changed fast.
F.E. Crab Spider:
Single Shot
1. Option Soldier, same Animation with the Gun as now
2. Option Crab Spider, same Animation as Channelgun with Gunsound and Muzzle Flash instead of the red Beam
Pummel
1. Option Soldier, same Animation with the Gun as now
2. Option Crab Spider, same Animation as Slice
Burst
1. Option Soldier, same Animation with the Gun as now
2. Option Crab Spider, same Animation as Longfang
Heavy Burst

1. Option Soldier, same Animation with the Gun as now

Similar then for the Bane Spider.
P.S.
And there should be the possibility to turn Fortifications ugly, brown Aura off, an option with minimal FX, or so. ATM SoAs have no Customization/alternate Animations to choose of. Why?
Oh, can we get new animations for the entire Fitness pool? I'm so bored with what we have right now.

In Dual Pistols, I'd love an alternative animation for Bullet Rain (the one where the bullets bend through the air) where instead you fire a bunch of bullets and they ricochet around the area of effect. It might look a little silly fired into the air sometimes, but IMO its much less immersion breaking than the bending bullet trails we have now.
If it hasen't already been said, which I am sure it has but I don't have time to read the entirety of the thread at the moment, bring back Energy Transfer's old animation. Add 1.67 seconds of 'inaction' time (I forget if it is cast time, or activation time...) to bring it in line with the current stats.
This allows:
a) The return of the animation I have never gotten over loosing.
b) The damage to happen at the very begining of the animation. (Which I am praying is technically feasable)
Favorite Hero: Computer (Empathy/Energy Blast Defender)
Favorite Villain: Gimp Computer (Fire Control/Psionic Assault Dominator)

since folk have asked for a "no claws" version of claw weapons so they could use monstrous hand/claws why not create alternate claw animations that are open handed rake style... it would give you a reason to add more clawed hand models too :P
Maybe even allow alternate animations that include a weapon draw for powersets that normall dont have weapons like say having powers emanate from a wand or staff for magic type characters... or the tricorder type device (that medicine pool uses) for tech types

How about a Calling a small lightning bolt down and punching the ground for elec melee, and Building a Ball of energy in the hand and punching the ground for Energy melee?

Even though it's not even live yet... Kinetic Melee. The current attacks are gorgeous, but people are gonna want something more controlled and less... flailing? dancy? wooshy? If only just to break up the pace a little bit.
For weapons, alternate draw animations would be very nice. Drawing a sword from the hip rather than the back, or drawing pistols from the chest (indicating a concealed harness under a jacket or such) Drawing dual blades from one hip or the other in traditional samurai style. Spines draw without the poison spray (and splorch sound) for more technology based types. Just some ideas.
Also seconding the other suggestions in the thread. Such as elemental weapon options for currently weaponless attacks, and the option for weaponless animations on current elemental weapon attacks.
All that is planned fails. All that is born dies.

Rawr, I've posted three times but I just keep seeing things that sound good and thinking of others. lol. Just one small one this time.
Flight animations need to be choosable. For example, I have a psychic character that floats via telekinesis, but I'd kill to have her be able to use the hover animation at filght speed. It suits her MUCH more than the "DA-DA-DA-DAAAA~!" style of flight. XD And then I've got some more traditional and vaguely Large Ham super heros that would love to constantly use that cheesy, fist forward stand, or the arms open style. Options to color effects, and have a few different elemental/aura styles would be much appreciated as well. Hover animation + Psionic style effects + Green tint = Love.
Just as electrical blasts don't "miss" with the animations, I would love to see eye beam powers not "miss". There is little in this game that makes less sense than a player shooting eye beams straight up into the air instead of the enemy directly in front of them. With the beams still aimed at the target but missing, you could at least argue that you misjudged the distance, it was absorbed, or just slightly deflected. As the case now, I have to pretend every character with an eye beam also has ADHD and will look at anything shiny in the room instead of their target.

I don't know why I didn't say this earlier, but I'd seriously love it if Assault Rifle (and, by extension, AR attacks in Mercs) had an option to fire from the shoulder rather than the hip. While I can get past it, it always bothered me that we can't use the weapon properly.
Conversely, for those who like hip-fire, give them a fire from the hip version of Sniper Rifle.
Also going to second (or third or however many times it's been brought up before me) for MoG animation for build-up/aim. Would look pretty awesome with weapons I bet.
Also, Blazing Bolt animation for other elemental snipes, like Proton Volley!
Also, Sniper Blast needs some kind of "charge-up" effect rather than the character holding a vibrating arm.
How... can you not like laser eye beams? madness.
My animation change/alternate 'yes list:
-Blaze -or- Cosmic Burst.
-Eviscerate
-Flurry/Shadow Maul (specifically 1-armed flurry of punches)
-All melee Weapons. They should all have alternate animations.
-Dark Melee kicks perhaps?
-Elemental Melee sets with weapons should have the option of all attacks having or not having the weapon. Fire Sword/Ice Sword/Stone Hammer.
-Granite Armor, alternate form?
-All Stalker Assassination attacks need a new animation.
-Dominator Domination color change? (please)
