Quote:What about:IS High-Recharge Rotation
Incandescent Strike -> Radiant Strike -> Gleaming Bolt -> Gleaming Blast -> Radiant Strike -> Gleaming Bolt
Time: 9.488
Total Damage: 479.92 / 1439.76 / 1919.68
DPS: 50.58 / 151.75 / 202.33
Procs: 5x Superior, 18.62
Interface: 19.38
Hybrid: ?
30% -Resistance Total: 109.39 / 234.35 / 296.8
This is the highest damage rotation available to the Peacebringer, but its not without flaws. There are two significant issues here is that it requires an enormous amount of slots to work of the 67 slots, no less than 20 have to be allocated to these four powers alone to get their production to the point where the rotation is possible. Its also quite expensive as a result. The other issue is that Incandescent Strike is a very slow-to-animate ability, and even though its damage justifies its animation time, it can be a liability because the player cant move for the length of the animation, which in certain encounters can be lethal. Most players like more damage, but to pursue this rotation to gain less than 2% DPS over the previous rotation is going to be a decision that players will have to make for themselves.
The Maniac's IS High-Recharge Rotation
Incandescent Strike -> Radiant Strike -> Gleaming Blast -> White Dwarf Smite -> Radiant Strike
Time: 8.836
Total Damage: 499.95 / 1499.85 / 1999.8
DPS: 56.58 / 169.74 / 226.324
I've never calculated procs before so I am a little leery about that, but just from the DPS calculations it looks like it would pull ahead slightly. The biggest problem with this (and the reason I added Maniac) is that to utilize this chain, one has to transform into White Dwarf mode for one attack. Now that the transformation is instant, I believe that this is attainable.
I didn't add any time to take into account going in and out of White Dwarf, mostly because I wasn't sure how to (Perhaps one unit of Arcana Time?). What do you think? Is about 40% more recharge (not factoring transformation time) too much to ask? Could this be a viable attack chain? -
Quote:Because it is the perfect set-up for farming. What's with all the fire? Why not energy damage, or psi damage, or cold damage, or good ol' smash/lethal?
Fire damage doesn't typically come with a debilitating secondary effect
You won't have to deal with Electricity's energy drain, Sonic's -resistance, Radiation's -defense, Energy's knockback, etc.
Fire Armor was designed to be offensively strong, at the cost of defense
Fire Armor still retains enough resistance towards fire, that it can cap resistance towards that type. It doesn't matter if you're weak to smashing if the enemies have none.
Personally I do both Fire Farms on my Fire Armor toons, as well as Smashing/Lethal farms on my Shield characters. There is nothing stopping anyone from farming energy damage heavy mobs (certainly doable), it just isn't as perfect a set-up as Fire Armor+Fire Mobs is. -
This effect has been recently fixed. Dead Targets no longer stop powers like Ion or Transfusion from spawning.
-
When Ion jumps to its targets, it tags them with a 'Do not jump to this target again' effect. So if someone used Ion right before you, yours will have nowhere to jump. After a few seconds this effect goes away and the next Ion will fire correctly. While it keeps a single Ion from being too powerful, it certainly ruins the usage of more than one Ion being used at once.

I've messed around with your build a little bit, but haven't been able to get anything I'd like myself.
I do have a question for you though. What Destiny are you going for? If you choose Barrier (the non rezing one) you'll get at least 5% more defense to everything that you don't need to get out of IOs. That way you can build for 40% S/L and 27.5%* E/N/F/C.
I built my Fire/ Tanker this way and I personally love it. In fact, the way I use Barrier on him is just like I would a crashless God Mode. If I am having no troubles with the 40/27.5% Defense levels, then I don't use Barrier. If I start dying, I use Barrier and the first minute or so is akin to Moment of Glory where nothing will take me down. I can then continue, knowing that I will have *at least* 45/32.5% defense until Barrier comes back up.
*Do you have the Vet reward that gives your inspirations a boost? It’s not much but it can shave off another few percent. -
Quote:I'm currently leveling a Titan Weapons/Fiery Aura Brute to get a feel for TW and while I can't say I loathe Momentum, it does at times get annoying. So to those that can't stand momentum, I'm curious what alternative would work for you?
The way I'd change it is:
- Reduce the amount of time Momentum stays on you.
- Remove the automatic downtime of Momentum.
- Using any power other than a TW power will automatically drop you out of Momentum.
- Follow Through and Whirling Smash would 'use' Momentum.
To reiterate, I'd find these mechanics to be a bit more enjoyable, but overall I'm not put-off by Momentum enough to drop the character. -
The only thing I can think of is that someone else agroed him before you got out to the courtyard. He's got those debuff missiles that can draw pet attention.
It doesn't sound like that is what happened though, so the only piece of advice I can offer is next time use Passive Follow. I *think* that should clear your pets' actions so they don't continue running towards Marauder. -
Wet Ice (60%) + Energy Absorbtion (20%) + Permafrost (20%) = 100% resist (Though I can't remember what it caps at).
If all you are after is the slow resist though, you can drop Permafrost and slot a Winter's Gift Slow Resist (also 20%).
I'm not a big fan of Burnout myself, but I'd choose it over Permafrost. -
Quote:This will depend on what you are going for with your build (Incarnate powers can change the slotting needs as well). I can tell you what I generally use in my builds though.I have three slots for stone skin
six slots for stones embrace
four slots for rooted
four slots for mud roots
I also use fighting
four slots for tough
four slots for weave
Any recommendations on invention enhancemnts.
I'm not good with the math side of the game so I find I can't grasp what I'm doing when I slot enhancements.
Stone Skin:
Aegis (Resist)
Aegis (Resist/End)
Rooted:
Panacea (Heal/End)
Panacea (End/Rech)
Panacea (Heal/Rech)
Panacea (Heal/End/Rech)
Panacea (Heal)
Rooted:
Panacea (Heal/End)
Panacea (End/Rech)
Panacea (Heal/Rech)
Panacea (Heal/End/Rech)
Panacea (Heal)
Mud Pots:
Multi-Strike (Acc/Dam/End)
Scirocco's Dervish (Acc/Dam/End)
Obliteration (Acc/Dam/End/Rech)
Tough:
Ribosome Exposure (End/Resist)
Steadfast Protection (Resist/+3% Def)
Weave:
Shield Wall (Def/End)
Shield Wall (End/Rech)
Shield Wall (Def)
Luck of the Gambler (Def/+7.5% Rech)
Note: Some of these are not for the faint of wallet. -
I typically slot Granite Armor with:
Cytoskeleton Exposure (End/Def/To-Hit)
Ribosome Exposure (End/Resist)
Aegis (Resist)
Aegis (End/Resist)
Luck of the Gambler (Def/+7.5 Rech)
Gift of the Ancients (Def/+7.5 Run)
The power hits the Enhancement Diversification threshold for End/Def/Resist and I get the set bonuses I want (Runspeed/Recharge). -
Quote:Now that you mention it, I am 99% sure the obelisks in the CoP trial are also immune.Given the hour and the status of my grav controller that's one I'll have to wait to test. I'll transfer him back to Virtue and maybe get a shot at it tomorrow night. If true, then they need to do a sweep of things that should be unphaseable (GMs, pylons, maybe the obelisk in CoP).
-
Quote:Well the Crates/Containers in the Lambda iTrial are not affected by Dimension Shift. That leads me to believe there is some type magnitude system in place. Unless perhaps some things are just tagged to be immune to phase? What I mean is that there is no magnitude to phase. Intangibility had a magnitude (which was variable with enhancement and level difference). Phase, to my knowledge, is simply on or off. You can DS a giant monster as easily as you can a minion. I'll have to toss some objects into an AE map to test them as well.
EDIT: Yeah, just checked on an AE mish. You can phase destructible objects.
Quote:EDIT 2: I missed the last part of what you said. Can you provide an example of an object that you cannot phase?
I think that the Pylons and Portals in the LGTF are also resistant, but it has been a while since I've done one. -
I'm not sure what you mean. The magnitude of the phase is strong enough to overcome the mob surrounding the object, but not strong enough to phase the object. It works not because I'm missing the object, but because it has sufficient protection against DS. You just need to know which objects you can and cannot phase.

Quote:Perhaps if I grab my four Dimension Shift loving friends and we all link arms? I'm sure we can make a large enough barrier with our space warping abilities.Lol pvp. Seriously think of a better reason not to change it than this. The 5 people who do pvp in this game is not going to be enough.
In seriousness though, I'll be sad to see the current form of Dimension Shift go. Thats not to say I won't find use out of its new form (obviously PvE only), but that I have gotten fond of its current form and its Bag O' Tricks style usage.
If you would Arbiter Hawk, could you make the new location based power able to be permanent and stay the same magnitude? At least then I will still be able to Phase enemies around Crates/Containers while safely blasting away at the Crate/Container itself. -

Quote:I think adding a fifth power would be a great idea. They could make it a PBAoE Toggle power that taunts and fears enemies around you.Have the 5th power be something new or something that can benefit both taunts and fears...
...I'll be honest I just want a taunt aura for my non-Brutes/Tanks/odd Scrappers. -
Quote:I'd rather they make the power better* instead of changing it to a different effect. Improving its use as a cage power (granting total -regen when an enemy is caged) and giving it more usage would do wonders for the power. An idea that I like about the single target cages, is to make it a buff when ally targetted.Sonic Cage - It could be replaced with an immobilize, or have enemy regen stop when put in the cage. As of right now, I think it is underrated, but it needs updating given other Defender/Controller/Corruptor sets have multiple debuffs being utilized now.

#5-
In an antisipated and bland twist of fate...Stateman Dies. Positron then takes the reigns.
#6-
Recluse rejoices, then he gets run over whilst jogging. Ghost Widow takes over for him.
#7-
With the two leading superpowers dead, the new leaders have a choice to make. Ghost Widow, wanting to keep Recluse's Arachnos powerful, decides the best thing to do is join forces with the Heroes to stop the Preatorian threat. Positron, fueled by unadulterated ghost fetish, agrees to join forces as...Arachbow Longnos! -
Quote:The developers have been known to contradict themselves before. I'm not convinced holding out hope is useless, especially considering how easily they gave up Poison.I can tell you that this is likely NEVER going to happen. Last I heard a dev comment on it was during a meet and greet a few months after GR was out and MMs could become heroes. They still stand by the fact that "Pain Domination IS Empathy for the historically villain ATs".
That's a great outlook on life.
Quote:After stating outright their issues with porting Poison over to heroes pre-Freedom (Poisoning people isn't very heroic) there were tons of threads and comments about how they needed to port poison over already because of whatever.
Quote:We could also look at how Sunstorm posted WAAAAAY back when about why they didn't proliferate Dark to everything right away (short version: existing dark sets had weird overlaps so they'd have to redo them in clever ways, like taking cone of fear out of miasma etc etc) so people spent the next few years crying about why we didn't have Dark yet and making threads about it. Then when they did give it to us some people took the "BUT I DON'T WANT IT ANYMORE WAAAAAUGH"-Veruca-Salt approach.
Also, even if we get people who whine about new and free things being added (Note: the definition for whine does not cover justified criticisms) I'd like to think that they do not represent us players on the whole.
Quote:You act like them coming out and saying why sets are/aren't getting proliferated will somehow satisfy these people. It won't. Synapse even came out and said that unkillable pets is a horror to deal with balance-wise, and has made a point of mentioning that the new Haunt pets will be killable, just to make sure people get it. And yet here this thread is.
If you are willing to 'connect the dots' and explain what Synapse is explicitly saying, go right ahead. If the whole point about his comments was the punch line "Illusion will not be ported" why didn't he say just that (remember that you are equivocating both statements)?
As a counter example, the developers have also stated that Power Boost is incredibly hard to balance. I believe Castle even said if he could, he'd go back and get rid of the powers altogether. Since then, we've been given more things with +special such as Earth Assault and Clarion, which is apparently something the developers get nightmares from. Dark Assault is also getting a +special effect.
Good thing people can be civil and happy while also not satisfied. I can happily play my Gravity Controller while simultaneously not be satisfied by his control options. I've added to discussions about this subject on the forums and over time many people have come up with great ideas how to combat this unsatisfying situation. Sure a few people come running in to scream "Gravity Sucks," but they are the minority. -
(Emphasis mine) This. A Zillion times this.
The hardest part is waiting and wondering while people fight over why we are waiting.
I personally believe it is because the developers think (incorrectly, on my opinion) it will be overpowered because of the example Controllers have set with it.
It would be great if they gave us a check list of all the remaining power sets that need to be proliferated with their thoughts behind them. (I'm waiting for Empathy for my Masterminds myself.) -
Are live people's names considered generic-able? On a related note, I released the name Hawking.
Also, I snagged the name Well of the Furies on a hunch, and now I cannot wipe this grin off my face. -
Quote:Could a DM/Shield Scrapper do it?You're not going to get all 3 of those things on one character. It's just not going to happen.
1) If they built for high DDR and a few extra defense points, then death isn't too much of a threat. I believe a DM/Invuln put out enough damage to do it, so I'd assume this more offensive combination could also.
2) DM/Shields can solo AVs (Do they put out enough damage without targets for saturation? I don't know.), but I don't know if they can solo GMs the same way. If we are counting incarnates however, I don't see why they couldn't.
3) They would be pretty good at combating +4/x8. They wouldn't have Footstomp, but Perma-Soul Drain and AAO fueled Shield Charge, Spring Attack, and and Epic AoE certainly isn't shabby.
I don't have a DM/Shield myself, but on paper it looks like it could accomplish his goals. -
Quote:This argument can really be used by either side. I for one am having a blast now that knockback doesn't ruin my enjoyment of the game. This had *better* be fixed quickly. Yes, this *is* ruining my enjoyment of the game.
Even considering that, I agree it should be fixed as soon as possible. Maintaining the 'status quo' of unenjoyable play that people opted into is better than thrusting a different group into unenjoyable play against their wishes. -
Oh my...
Wormhole just got 100 times better*!
*Opinion based -
Quote:I have always...disliked...this argument. It assumes that any situation that arises wherein it would be beneficial to use Hibernation often* is just bad playing on the player's part. That is just plain not true, especially for a defense set that relies on the Random Number Generator to survive. I don't see how <insert any AV/GV/EB/Etc.> getting lucky with their hard hitting attacks makes me a bad player. If you need to have Hibernate up every 45 seconds as a Tank, the problem is not Hibernate. You should really look at your build/playstyle if your Tank is burning through that many hit points that fast.
