    Goodbye CoX

Must be a forum glitch. The name shows gold but my sub ran out a few weeks ago.

    *edit*
Woah, okay, now it's showing white. Weird.

    Goodbye CoX

Since I can't reply the thread int he News and Events forum, I'll put this here. I felt like I needed to say goodbye before the game shuts down for good. And knowing me, I'd probably forget to do it if I don't go ahead and do it now. lol
    -----------------
I was introduced to City of Heroes back in 2006. A friend invited me to a LAN party and we all created trial accounts. It was an interesting experience. They'd all had a chance to try it before, but I was completely new to the game. It was then I created my first ever character, Whitey the Clown. He was an Elec Empath Defender. I created him purely as a joke, since I really didn't think I would be playing the game after the LAN was done.

Boy was I wrong about that.

As soon as we started our first mission together, I was hooked. Even just playing something as seemingly mundane as the healer role, I knew this was something special. And so, after the LAN, I kept playing and I eventually created my main Rock Crag, an Earth/FF troller. This is when I realized the games full potential. Above all else, I am an artist and a story teller. This game offered me something.. that no other game could: An interesting outlet for my imagination.

I've never been one for role playing. I play RPGs, sure, but the escapism offered by pretending to be something else... never really appealed to me. This was more about creating a world. Playing with my imagination, making original character costumes and stories. This wasn't just a game... this was a living comic book world, where I could create anything I wanted.

As I played and appreciated all the various aspects of the game, I was introduced to the community. And what a community it was. Infinity Badges was the first channel I ever joined. These people welcomed me and offered help. Before CoH, I had really only played Guild Wars. Sure it was an MMO, but I wasn't connected with other players like this. I'd go online, progress through the story, hire AI to help and really only talk to others when I wanted to sell some rare item. CoH was different. Better. People teamed, not because they had to... but because they wanted to help. I can still remember how blown away I felt when I was approached by a random person and given an unusually large amount of influence. Of course, 2 million isn't really all that much now... but it certainly seemed like it. I had no idea that kind of selfless attitude even existed online.

After 6 years, 12 level 50's, hundreds of characters and probably thousands of hours played (1063 on my main alone)... I really appreciate just how incredible this entire experience has been. It's true, you never really know what you have until it's gone... and in a few months... it will be. Infinity was my one and only server... and I can honestly say that I'll miss seeing all the regulars there. Hopefully we'll be able to meet up and find another game to enjoy together... but it certainly won't be the same.

Okay, that was like the longest goodbye ever.

So... for one last time... /jranger, FPARN, Freem and Soon™

    Rula Shin codes!

    Used TWJE-5VS5-32HK-G8NA-VT7S
    Thanks for the codes =)
  4. Well, looks like the second password reset worked. I'm not entirely sure why I was able to log in originally, but on the first password reset it was partially my fault. I picked a new password that was 14 characters and the max is 13. So either it accepted 14 characters (which it shouldn't have) and screwed up, or it accepted the 13 of the 14 I typed and when I logged in I was typing all 14 (which it shouldn't have let me do) and saw the password as incorrect.

Either way, I can now log in through the site. Thanks everyone.
  5. Ugh. I've been going through the steps with the support people. They reset my password and hints, and I was able to log on and change my password/hints. But I logged out, and tried to log back in with the new password... and... it... didn't work...

Just out of curiosity I tried to retrieve my password and it still says "We did not find that email address in our records. Please try again.".
  6. Any more word on this? I've actually just noticed that I can't log in to the website either.
And i haven't checked in the last few weeks, but I can't log into my account in game either. >_<
  7. Here's the thing: Unless they've changed something in the last few months, I'm pretty sure I'm using the right password and username. And like I said, I tried to retrieve my password and it doesn't recognize my email. It just says "We did not find that email address in our records. Please try again." and this is the only email I use. This isn't user error or forgetfulness. It's definitely something wrong on their end.
  8. Okay, so... for some reason I'm not able to log onto my game account on the website. It doesn't recognize my email address/username/password. I've made sure all entries are correct. When I try to retrieve my password, it says my email isn't even in the system.

Does anyone else have this problem?

*edit: As a side note, I can log into the game... It's something to do with the site, it seems.*

I believe the official stance on this is that any robot/mech armor can be made with a combination of robot costume pieces and invuln/energy aura powers. To be honest, I'd much rather see Energy Aura get different animations rather than a whole other powerset be made.

Might as well make that an official suggestion for this thread. Hear that Devs? I'd like to see Energy Aura get customizable animation options that look similar to the Victorian costume aura. Only, ya know... less swirly.
  10. 2 quick suggestions here:

    1. Can we please get some mechanical tails? It doesn't matter what style. Sleek tech, Crey tech, Steampunk, Cyberteck, anything would be lovely.

    2. Could it be possible to get a reflective-less costume texture? Like Matte (which I'd still love to see added to Chest/Legs/Head), but more-so.
Here's a good example of what I'm talking about:

    *shrug*

Maybe I shouldn't assume "concept" always means backstory.
Yeah, sorry, I was more referring to the concept of the build than anything else. I don't know about any other server, but on Infinity we tend to see very few Ice Armor tanks... let alone Ice Armor tanks that are built for farming.

Rangle M. Down: Thanks, I'll try to keep that in mind.
  12. Thanks. I like the build. You make a good point about melt armor and needing single target attacks for bosses. I hadn't even considered that.

So here is a slightly tweaked version of the build you gave me. I put in some Aegis because I thought the Fire defense could use some improvement. Fire is pretty much the only major weakness this build has and I wanted to minimize that risk as much as possible. I also turned on the Agility Alpha just for kicks.

  13. Build or Character?

The build is meant to be an AoE machine. Jump in the middle of a group, Lightning Rod/Melt Armor/Thunderstrike/Fireball everything to death. Chain Induction to help fill the gaps between attacks.

The characters name is Elemental Templar. He's basically a magical knight, although I haven't fleshed out the details of his story yet. I just thought it was odd because his powers are so different, thematically.
  14. It's been a very long time since I last posted a build to the forums. I was working on an Ice Stalker and I liked it so much that I decided to work on a Tanker build. Admittedly, I'm not sure how good this is. It seems decent, but I'm used to working with Brute numbers. Never really messed with Tanks much.

Anyway, I thought this was an interesting concept, but the Endurance worries me. Can someone please take a look and tell me what you think? Thanks.

PS: Yes, this is an attempt at a farm build. That's why most of the single target attacks have Mocking in them. They're mulls for bonuses.

  15. Normally I would completely ignore this simply for the fact that it'll be a remake of a movie that's not more than 10 years old*. However... The choice of Tom Cruise intrigues me. I'm reminded of his role in Tropic Thunder and it makes me wonder if it might not be such a terrible idea. As annoying as the man may be in real life... he's still damn entertaining to watch. And unlike some actors *cough*Johnny Depp!*cough* he doesn't do 20 billion movies a second and over-stay his welcome. I don't think I'll write this movie off just yet.

*Checked just to make sure my facts are straight: Wow, 2004. That's actually older than I thought it was
  16. Curious... Some friends and I ran an ITF tonight... and I noticed something fairly odd. I was just wondering if it was part of April Fools or if it was a glitch. It if was a glitch it's the first I've ever heard of it.

We were on the first mission. We got outside and up to the final part of it... and someone triggered the ambush of Nictus. Here's where it gets weird: There was an EB called 'Romulus Augustus Nictus' in the mob. Yeah...

I should have though to catch a screeny of it, but this was a speed run and by the time I saw him everyone was out and ready to move on.
  17. Kate Beckinsale? Hhmmm...
Colin Farrell... Well, he's done some good stuff...
    Jessica Biel. She's purty too!
    Bryan Cranston!!! SOLD!!!
  18. That's Wade, right? The similarities to Rularuu are uncanny.
  19. I was willing to ignore the crappy cgi and started to get into it... but then the girl said 'talk to the hand' and totally killed any interest that was building up.
  20. I laughed when people said Hawkeye doesn't need to aim properly because he has The Hulk as backup. That's not to say it's a bad point... but rather... because I immediately had this image of Hawkeye aiming for a bad-guy and then The Hulk grabbing that arrow, running up to the enemy and stabbing it in him before Hawkeye could fire it. lol
  21. I'm still waiting for my Eclipso-Superman movie.
  22. I only scanned this topic, but a few things that popped into my mind here... So if I talk about something that's already be shot down, I apologize.

I love the idea of the Snipe being a two-power power. Thinking outside the box always helps with problems like this. I think it would be really interesting if the Sniper power came with a Toggle and a Clickie. The toggle would gradually improve your accuracy/to-hit and when you're ready, you hit the Clickie to fire. Obviously the buff would have to have some kind of limit where it would only work for the Sniper attack. Also, firing would have to detoggle the aiming power.

You would also be able to use the Clickie without the toggle, but obviously the accuracy/to-hit would be significantly lower... but it would fire without the typical 'wind-up' we have now. This should allow the player to control how they use the power...

Another thing, even if the above changes don't happen or aren't possible... I'd *love* to see some sort of AoE fear or placate attached to the attack.
  23. I can confirm that infinity is showing the exact same problems as ever other server mentioned. Characters listed as on an 'Unknown Map' and getting error messeges when trying to load them.
  24. Wouldn't it be lovely if we had to ask for Rularuu's help in stopping the Battalion? Very 'Silence of the Lambs', no?
  25. Rock_Crag

    Tights!

Please complete any patterns which have only 1 or 2 pieces to them. 50/50* is the first that come to mind. And Matte... although I suppose that's more a texture than a pattern.

I would love to see more patterns in general, actually. Complex, simple, solid, faded... anything.

Also, I support Todogut's excuse to see more breast imagery. I understand what Golden Girl is saying... I just want to see more. =)

*I know there's a problem with asymmetry when it comes to tights patterns (because the arms have to be the same color when they hit the gloves portion) but obviously the same workaround for the mask patter can work here.
