Discussion: Announcing a New Paragon Market Pilot Program - Freebie Friday!
Whether or not it was really "free" when the $15-per-month was non-negotiable, consider some of the really "exciting" vet rewards we got:
Boxing gloves.
Greek letters.
or sometimes just a Respec.
ooooooh.

Looking foward to this Freebie Friday giveaway remember the time zone thing starts the 24 hour clock 00:00 to 23:59 based on the BST and adjust accordingly.
Feedback:
I think on Freebie Friday not just on the launcher or the home page announcing it that it would generate more interest in Market use if it appeared as a GMotD on log in once you are in game. This would alert people who never visit the forums or homepage, and be a reminder to all players who might have forgotten about the promotion.
display message could read some thing like this:

But that's not a certain thing, either. We won't know the actual schedule until Freebie Fridays makes it out of its beta phase. Just keep an eye on redname posts in the meantime.

Thanks , nice free gift.
I actually used it, and I don't normally use the one-shot things like boosters or team inspirations, despite having a ton built up.
Remember that this was only a test run, and they probably wanted to try it out with something relatively harmless in case something didn't function correctly.
Just a reminder that FREEBIE FRIDAYS IS BACK THIS WEEK!
The free item is still available for another 21½ hours.

Once again marketing drops the ball and promises the moon before delivering a small chunk of moon rock. Although it shouldn't come as any real surprise, nothing in the original announcement suggested that it would be consumables only as appears to be the case.
No, it's not a slap in the face, but the whole thing was pretty misleading, but I'm honestly starting to expect that from Paragon Studios these days.
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill

In one little corner of the universe, there's nothing more irritating than a misfile...
(Please support the best webcomic about a cosmic universal realignment by impaired angelic interference resulting in identity crisis angst. Or I release the pigmy water thieves.)
Yeah have to agree with Aracanaville. All they said was a free goodie every friday. They said it wouldn't necessarily be a consumable every time, but that's it. This otherwise lives up to everything they said about the program. Free goodie, on 'friday'.
And as it's a test pilot program, no one should be surprised an inspiration has shown up for it. They're trying to gauge customer reaction, because the forums sure as heck are not the only dipstick to measure with (though it is the only one that comes off with a thick black oily substance like one). If more people bit for the free XP than they do for the insp then that's a data point they'll use for future marketing strategy (at no cost to the players either way).
This week's free thing was too much free for not enough thing. I demand the either the return of my free or significantly more thing immediately.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

I'm not going to complain about getting something for free, but I'll be honest... I found myself thinking that it almost wasn't worth clicking to claim it.

What do you all that are crying think should be free? Should you claim a token that makes a dev of your choice fire cave farm you for an hour? Or a purple recipe? 30 days of vip time? An Xbox 360?
I mean damn. the idea is something small to get you in the market then hope you buy something else while there.
I'm not complaining or anything, I'm just going to say it'll take more than a free inspiration to get me (and probably many others) to stop playing that evil game for any significant amount of time today.
My own opinion is that "free" is too expensive for a single inspiration, but I think I've already made my stance on consumables clear elsewhere.

Of a genius smashing expectations

Thanks for the freebie, Devs..Oh, is there anyway I can collect the freebies that the complainers are in turmoil over?
I can use them on my next TF. I'll divide them up amongst my team..Then it's a freebie from a freebie.
NCSOFT may take away our servers and beloved dev team, but they can't break our spirit and community. with all your power, NCSOFT, your victory will be bitter-sweet. I, personally will be there to laugh at you when you face-plant into the ground.

Free is usually nice, but if I try to influence people by offering free oxygen, I'm probably not going to have much success.

To those complaining:
What were you seriously expecting to get for these Freebie Fridays? Costume pieces? IOs? Vanity pets?

Wow. Entitlement marches on...
Free isn't good enough for some.
Being over the top, my assessment of freebies according to 'some' here, is that either Paragon Studios should 'pay' us to take their freebies, or PS is supposed to drop purple sets as freebies; and God forbid that someone had to access the market for 10 seconds to gain the free item...Phhhttt.
How DARE PS make us waste 10 seconds of my time accessing a freebie! It's a conspiracy! They want me to go on the market and get sucked into the black hole of the Paragon Market and spends my money!!!!!
They're as bad as when all you want is a gallon of milk at the supermarket and they make you go allllll the way to the back of the supermarket to get the milk, making me pass by candy isles, and snack isles and...ummm....OH...look! Sale on cookies this week! Must buy! OH! cool 2 for 1 deal on soda! and ....what did I come to the supermarket for...?
uh...hmmmm....
Point being, YES, it's a way to get you to go into the market and use the system to find the freebie and purchase it, making it a weekly 'habit' to do so to get something for free. We, as the chimpanzees clicking on the button to get a treat, will enjoy doing this after awhile until it becomes a comfortable behavior that will allow more folks, once scared and disinterested in the PM, to NOW be interested in the PM and buy purchasable things from there.
The question is...do you have the willpower to accept the freebie as simply 'a freebie' without having to get all alpha about it, or follow the other train track and go "ooooh! look another new shiny in the PM! Must have! MUST BUY!" to buy anything else in the market outside of what you KNOW (and can afford) you intended (or planned) to get while in the instance of getting your weekly button-pushed treat...er...freebie?
There is no pleasing everyone, but everyone these days always expect to be pleased. See what it is they are doing with the freebie and simply ask this, "do I want the freebie this week? Yes or no? If yes, spend 10 seconds and go get it and get on with your life. If no, then leave it alone and go about your business.
Stating you are 'disappointed' in the freebie choices, or that other older 'free' longevity-unlocked veteran rewards (now Paragon Rewards) items were 'sad' is simply parallel to grumbling that after a week of rain, the sun finally came out and it turned into a beautiful day to go outside....but instead of going outside and enjoying the sunlight and nice weather, you choose to stay indoors with the curtains drawn and blame the sun for daring to come out. (i.e., getting bitter about a freebie).
Hint: enjoy the sunlight while its out and move on.
You know it's a market inspiration so it last 5 minutes that's like 5 normal ones I'll take it.
Come on people ******** what did you think they were gonna start handing out free powersets or something lol get a clue.
The Freebie Friday promotion also isn't about rewarding VIPs--if you're still holding on to the idea that it should be, then scrub that entitlement right out of your thick skull or you will continue to be disappointed and promptly ridiculed for said disappointment. The freebie is for everyone, be they a VIP, premium, or completely free player.
Yes it's marketing as some one else pointed out it is a business after all. One i hope continues to stay successful because i just adore this game!
Of course now that i have heard SOME got bacon i am extremely distressed and displeased in fact i am going to cancel my sub because i received no free bacon!
