From a testing standpoint, making this week's item something typical of what will usually appear provides more meaningful data than something spectacular. Sure, Paragon could have given away something huge like a powerset, but what would that really tell them? That a lot of people will log on for a free powerset? Duh. What they want to know is how many people will log on for something comparatively minor like a free XP booster.
Also, free stuff! Yay!
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

My only real concern with Freebie Friday is if it may eventually contain things like costume pieces or the like (say, on a special occasion/date maybe). Stuff in the "buy it once for all your characters, forever" category. That would seem to be rewarding the cheapskates over the loyal customers, which seems a bit backwards to me.
But anyway, free stuff is free stuff, can't complain about it.

I don't really consider a consumable an 'account wide' item, but whatever, like I said before, you guys seem to have issues with using the language. You got my hopes up and smashed them quite expertly, good show! Claimed it on principal, but I doubt it will ever get used... Oh well, I won't get my hopes up that it might be useful again.

I'll agree that the wording was not phrased as best it could have been. But this is just the first run beta test of the program; it certainly doesn't mean that there won't be account-wide items offered in the future, such as emotes or individual costume pieces.
(Though I do so adore that there are some out there who hold out hope that they'll give away a $10 power set to the entire playerbase for free. It's like when you catch a puppy tearing up a roll of toilet paper--you want to yell at them, but it's just so damn adorable.)

While I can understand a vegetarian's desire to not eat meat -- even though I can't relate to that desire -- now I want to go order one somewhere, just to see the look on their faces. "One veggie burger with cheese, extra mayo, with extra bacon! Hmmm. 'Add bacon to any burger, 99 cents.' For $1.98, could I have EXTRA extra bacon on that?!"

Freebie Friday Test Notes.
On 1 account I was able to find the xp booster on the other I found me free item on the second page.
Since the free item was not announced I could not really find it until I checked the forums.
Freebie Friday could be better. If there was a place to check where the item was or if it had its own section in the Paragon Market.

It's a dark and story night. That means something bad is happening out there
Zwill said at one of the U-Streams that the #1 selling item in the market was the Super Packs and I kinda figured they would be because I bought alot of them mainly for the black wolf pet.
I also wanted the Enhancement Catalysts, Enhancement Boosters, ATO's and Reward Merits for all my different toons. I got all I wanted of these.
I also got a bunch of stupid stuff ( Yes stupid to me ) that i'll never use like the XP Boosters that I have 659 of from the super packs. I can't give them to people who would want them and use them, I can't sell them and I can't give them back to Paragon studios.
It was a slap in the face to me as a 7 year VIP customer that has dumped alot of money into the game to get a free item I have no use for.

It doesn't matter if it is free, if the customer perceives a slight. In my opinion, unless they ramp up Freebie Friday this type of tone is pretty much ho hum.

Perspective, people.
(No people, I am not relating this promotion to anything but trying to make a point in regard to all the quibs and quibbles that happen every...freaking....time in these "discussion" threads. Can we stop calling them "discussions"? Label it comments. Label it "we only want "yay thanks!" posts. Or label it "people who aren't officially connected to the game are hereby authorized to assume and explain the actions of people in the know". Or don't allow direct responses to other posts because I swear to god the ability to comprehend and process other people's opinions are at an alarming low. )
As for the promotion, I saw no mention if it via the game other than people commenting in global channels. That seems a bit misguided. And I still don't like the current time frame.
Also, kudos to Hit Streak for actually providing some actual information. I'd like to see the OP modified to include that information.

So in this case the guy making your sub has asked you, "Do you want free bacon on that?" and instead of saying "No, thank you." you have chosen to complain that the guy offered you some free bacon in the first place. That is textbook rude on YOUR part by any stretch of the imagination.
