Anyway the concept of a post-RotJ Ep.VII, VIII and IX trilogy is not exactly a new idea. There was talk of having a "trilogy of trilogies" happening as far back as the late 1970s. I suspect it has been part of Lucas' Grand Scheme for decades now. *shrugs*
Yeah, I've known about the possibility of a live action TV show for years now, but supposedly it wasn't going to include any of the main characters, except possibly Fett. I've also known about the 9-part saga since I was a kid, I think George even mentioned the possibility of 12 movies at one time, though he's vehemently denied both possibilities for decades.

Post-Jedi films could be good, if done right, but bringing back Vader and/or recasting all the main characters with younger actors would ruin it for me, so my idea is the only one I can think of that would work for me.
  3. ((Cross posted from the "Hasbro" thread because I posted it there by mistake...))

If Disney wants to use Vader in a new movie there is a very easy and acceptable way to do so - don't call the movie Episode VII and instead set it a few years after Episode III.

There's a span of 16-18 years between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope that has never been touched. This material is ripe for development and you can use Vader, Boba Fett, Yoda, Obi-Wan, younger versions of Han and Lando, etc., without resorting to any kind of goofy (no pun intented) plot twists to explain how fan favorites who either apparently, or obviously, died are back.

Hell, in Lucas' tradition of changing things to make them fit, you could even relable ANH, TESB and ROTJ as Episodes VII, VII and IX, and call the new trilogy Episodes IV, V, and VI.

I think this would make much more sense and would be far more readily accepted than trying to continue the story post-ROTJ with a new cast, etc.

In case you didn't know it, he was also Principal Snyder in Season 3 of Buffy, so there's a Joss Whedon connection as well.

  6. I loved how they shot the Glenn/Rick confrontation scene in such away to make Rick appear as walker-like as possible - mindlessly savage and covered in blood and gore.

Bravo to Glen Mazarra for some excellent directing this episode.
  7. Yes, please, Please, PLEASE reopen the chalet.

It's my favorite place in CoX and it's where I planned to be when the servers go dark.

    Please?

  10. I apologize folks, I was trying to add some levity and thought this would be an obvious enough joke on its own. I was wrong, or I failed to take into account the way folks would read it.

The joke was - Disney called NCSoft and asked if they could buy CoX, they were told no, so they decided to buy Lucasfilm instead.
  11. According to an interview with Robert Iger, Disney actually contacted NCSoft about purchasing City of Heroes. However, they were turned down, so they went with their second choice instead.

    Future WSTs?

Well that stinks. But thanks for posting the link.

    Future WSTs?

Sorry if this is common knowledge, but I couldn't find it on the wiki and the forum search function isn't working for me for some reason. Is there a list of what the Weekly Strike Targets are between now an November 30?

    Thanks!
  14. Not sure how much playing I'll actually get to do because of other committments (work tomorrow, Halloween party Saturday, etc.), but I always said one of my goals in CoX was to get a 50 of every AT.

I'm nowhere close to that having only four 50s (a Scrapper, a Dom, a 'Troller and a Blaster), but starting tonight, I'm going to try to get my highest level Brute (44), Corrupter (34), Tank (32) and Stalker (16) as close as I can to 50 before they take the game away from me.

By the way, are there still WSTs? And if so, what is the WST for this week/end?
  15. Thanks guys, this truely made my day! At least now I will always feel like I still have a little piece of the game that has given me such pleasure these last five years.

Now I gotta look into that tool I read about that will allow me to to save some of my characters...
  16. This may be a dumb question - I'm not very computer savvy, but is there a way to find and save any of the music files used in CoH?

Last night I logged in to a character I had parked in the ski chalet, and that cheesy Bavarian Christmas music instantly brought me back to my very earliest experience in CoH during the 2007-08 Holiday event.

I know that I'd get a lot of nostalgic enjoyment out of listening to that, the Atlas Park intro music, various clips from Steel Canyon and Boomtown, among others. Heck, even DJ Zero's jams will bring back fond memories.

So how about it - is there an easy way for me to find and save these music files before it's too late?

    Thanks!
  17. I believe I remember this same plotline from the late '80s or early '90s. And that probably wasn't the first time they had explored it either.
  18. I'd actually consider contributing at the $500 level if I could select ANY character for a sketch, but I don't want a sketch of a Cyberforce character.
  19. I'm calling it - the Marvel-based TV series will be... Runaways.

  21. From one of the more quoteable movies of all time...

"Hey, Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?"

"These people are here to protect you. They're soldiers."

"Hudson! This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training."

And some others from a rather famous franchise...

"Don't try to frighten us with your sorcerous ways, Lord Vader. Your sad devotion to that ancient Jedi religion has not helped you conjure up the stolen data tapes, or given you enough clairvoyance to find the rebels' hidden fortress..."

"Look, it's headed for that small moon."

    ...

"Your taun-taun will freeze before you reach the first marker!"

"What's the matter, Princess? Afraid I was gonna leave without giving you a goodbye kiss?"

"Sir, the odds of successfully navigating an asteroid field are 3720 to 1."

    "I love you."

    ...

    "Your overconfidence is your weakness."

"Never. I'll never turn to the Dark Side. You've failed, your highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me."

There's also a manikin in the comics shop that wears a FREEM! shirt, there's some sort of CoV display on the wall of the comics shop, and occasionally you see a game box on a shelf in the guys' apartment, amongst other things.

Also, IIRC, this past season they even mentioned the game by name, with Leonard saying something like, "We're always the good guys - we play lawful good characters in D&D, heroes in City of Heroes, and in Grand Theft Auto we always pay the hookers."

Dude! Go be with your family - eat mass quantities of charred meats and drink copius amounts of intoxicating beverages. (That way I won't feel bad when I go see Amazing Spiderman tonight instead of playing).

See you in a couple weeks.
