Anyone else think they could have managed to sell the game?
This is heartbreaking, soul crushing, rage inducing, etc.
Thank you all for trying nonetheless.
Sad to say but I saw it coming. It was a good run.

Yeah, probably asked far more than the property was actually worth.. crying shame that they'd rather sink the game than sell.

With such a vague comment, cant help but simply think that this means "we [this tiny group of people at NCSoft West] attempted to sell but the Korean mothership refused".
/boycot on
*sigh* Well, that is what I expected, but I had hoped I would be wrong. I don't buy the line about them being unable to sell it, though. We know there were buyers.
Hope really is the cruelest emotion.
I love you guys. Every single one of you.
Don't ever forget it.
@Rien
I am Lord Omi. Now and forever. They can take our City, but they can't take me.
So it looks like they intend to keep their 1000 batting average as the MMOKiller after all.
Am I surprised? Nope. I played Tabula Rasa.
Am I saddened? You betcha. Not only for us, but for the hope I had that for once a large corporation might dare to have a heart and put people ahead of shareprice. But in the end, it's their loss too - people won't forget this, nor will they forgive.
There is one thing not to be sad about though - the way we handled ourselves as a community. History likes to paint things in terms of good guys and bad guys...and there's no doubt we were the good guys here.
I'm skeptical as to what "exhausted" means in this context. If they were actually attempting to sell the IP or the studio for a significant amount of time, that would be interesting considering no rumor of such activity emerged and the studio itself was unaware. It would imply they were pretending to grant full support to Paragon for new development while they knew such support was false and guaranteed to be unsustainable.
The alternative is "exhausted" means they thought about all the options and decided not to actually engage any of them.

I don't hold much hope for any of the NCSoft western operations. In a few years I am sure we will be seeing most the operations being taken back to Korean soil. We will have to see if GW survives (in the west) that transfer
From NCsoft:
Once again, we will be holding events throughout the process of preparing for the game's end, and we encourage players and fans of the franchise to join forces and enjoy their time in a game that we've enjoyed supporting for more than eight years.
