I dont run.. I fight...

My dad told me when I was young.. the guy in the crowd that walks around and talks the most crap is most likely the biggest punk.. punch him first..

I know a punk when I see one NC Soft..

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.

If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

Seriously, you should all be members of the CoHTitan forums by now and part of the cause to not only save the game, but apply more pressure on NCsoft. This statement they issued is completely meaningless. It's the PR department's way of trying to mitigate the damage we've done to their reputation so far and we've barely begun.

SERIOUSLY, STOP LISTENING TO NCSOFT. THE REDNAMES ARE BEING FED THIS CRAP FROM THE PR GUYS.

Go. Go be constructive.

Just as importantly, READ THIS remark about the statement from Mercedes Lackey (Victoria Victrix) and her husband:

And if you're sitting here on these forums feeling bummed about this and nothing else, you're NOT helping the situation. Defeatist attitudes are complete BS!

So we're supposed to give up, NCsoft?

AND LET'S NOT FORGET, NCsoft is the company that thought NOTHING of forging a letter of resignation for Richard Garriott over Tabula Rasa. Who seemed to think that forgery was a perfectly reasonable business practice????

http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/05...llion-lawsuit/

NCsoft are, pure and simple, a company with NO focus, NO goals, and NO regard for the Western Video Game Market. They are MMO Killers. Even in the wake of Guild Wars 2 having a big launch, their stocks continue to fall and you can be damn sure the flames of an outraged community from their latest MMO homicide are having at least a little bit of a bearing on that!

Yea I'm doing what I can to help the cause but it wont be under the banner of Titan. While I try to direct my efforts to compliment theirs instead of working against, the overall environment over there dont seem to appreciate anything that is considering if things dont go well unless of course it comes from TonyV or VV. Then it's ok to be real about the situation but never before those two not to mention the plan is still in chaos over there and seem to be waiting on a miracle to happen. Just my take no meaning of harm or insult to anyone. Titan is just not for me.

Didn't read the whole thread so I'm not sure this has been presented:

It's entirely possible that they shopped the game around for the last year or so before coming to the original decision.

Possible.

Not many hard facts to go on so that is entirely just as possible as the rest of the theories out there.

All we have was announcement to close game, something about talks, something about talks going very well even though in hindsight, guess they wasnt going that well, refund stuff, talks fell through.. that's about it and some of those are basically second or more hand talks.

That's fine, no insult perceived. I'm just really fed up with the posts I read here of people basically admitting defeat and accepting that it has to happen exactly as NCsoft wants it to. We're not the first MMO community they've scorned, but we're the loudest and most defiant and that scares them. This announcement is just more proof that we need to keep up the pressure.

When you play an NCSoft game, you get attached.
When you get attached, they cancel the game.
When they cancel the game, you get angry.
When you get angry, you want to fight injustice.
When you want to fight injustice, you dress like Blue Steel.
When you dress like Blue Steel, Chuck Norris tests your skills.
And when Chuck Norris tests your skills, you end up in a wheelchair with one bad wheel.

Don't end up in a wheelchair with one bad wheel. Get rid of NCSoft and upgrade to anything else.

The more I think about it, the more likely I find that might be the case; that NCSoft probably shopped the game around for quite a long time before they announced the shutdown decision. It just makes sense.

If it makes sense, it likely is not what happened.

I just want to know what happened with the talks. First there was posts about things going well; be patient things are going well; hey, they re making headway in the talks keep it up; the talks are looking good... and then, crash and burn. I mean wouldnt both parties of the talks would have seen that coming as the talks went on. Unless they were going well and one party said something of the likes, "Ok I'll call you. DONT CALL ME!! I'll call you." then followed it up the next morning with, "we are declining your offer."

Ever negotiated with someone and you can tell when things are not working out even before the talks ends? Or maybe just me.

Yeah, but let's be real people for a second ok? You're not the character you pretended to be playing the game here.

I've seen everything from ..

"Let's sue them and force them to GIVE us the game"

"Let's be the superheroes we were meant to be"

"Let's picket government offices"

"Let's involve politicians"

"The game HAD to have been making millions, even though we have no idea what their overhead was"

"Let's get celebrities to claim this means something to them" (whether they played the game or not)

"This is what everything means, because my husband said so"

"NCSoft is now out to get us, and they're sending people here to weaken our resolve"

"Force them to sell" (Even though none of us has come forward with that kind of cash yet)

Let's be honest, this is getting to be half desperation, half bat $h*t crazy. It's not even close to being grounded in logic. Half of the time they break into game talk like they're fighting an AV. You can get tired of the realists all you want, but at the end of the day this IS a video game.

Not necessarily. It probably started with "would you consider selling?" When the answer was maybe that might be a "good sign". I bet where it crashed was when the amount came into play. Money doesn't always come up immediately.

True. Come to think of it, I think in buisness it's considered bad form to bring up money immediately. Well hell then, now things are much clearer or I can see in a sensible way that it went downhill quick because negotiations can end with a few volley of statements when it comes to money. "I'll give you 5 million for it." "Nope I want 20 million." "I only have 5." "Well it was a pleasure of talking to you, maybe we can work something out in the future." Shake hands and that's the end of it just like that.

I find it difficult to believe NCSoft could have been shopping the game and the studio around without even the general manager knowing, and I can't believe anyone would want to take over the game without studio support. If this was all a surprise to Paragon, and I have multiple inside reports it was, they were not being shopped prior to the announcement.

There are multiple reports that representatives from Paragon were talking to NCSoft, but I have read nothing publicly nor has anyone told me anything privately about the specific content of those talks or the specific details of how they proceeded, only that they were happening and there was a decent chance of them succeeding. As far as I know, there has never been an *explicit* report about talks "going well" or anything like that. Just that talks were happening. My suspicion is that prior to being approached by the Paragon team, NCSoft had no plans for CoH or any of the other Paragon assets at all.

Please read this Thread on the Titan Network. It is ongoing as we speak with comments from Tony V. Victoria Victrix aka Mercedes Lackey and Fancy The Famous Bard. I know it will bring back your hope if it has faltered. http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index....ic,5437.0.html

Makes more sense than "NCSoft is trying to test our resolve" doesn't it? Not that we know for sure but this way of looking at it seems more probable and less delusional =)

Trying to save the game is only a portion of the bigger picture. NCsoft is a horribly mismanaged company with little to no focus that isn't above forging resignations just to close down a game and they even admitted to doing it (see: Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa). The quality or appeal of that game is irrelevant to the point, they were justly sued for their infraction and lost.

They don't know what they want to offer and they always expect to do the same numbers as World of Warcraft with cookie-cutter Korean clones which is unrealistic and irresponsible. No one else can do those numbers, Blizzard were just at the right place at the right time. A strong possibility that led to the cutting of CoH was Nexon becoming a majority shareholder in NCsoft and pressuring their brass to make some cuts (without stating CoH specifically). Their refocusing back to the East obviously made CoH the perfect choice since Guild Wars 2 was positioned to be a newer, higher profile release here.

They were very much upset that "City of Hero" didn't take off in their homeland and that standard CoH didn't catch on either but that should have been a given because Western comic book superheroes are not part of the norm in their culture. It's easier to single out the game that isn't pulling it's weight in only half of the markets you operate in.

But even with their strong Guild Wars 2 launch, NCsoft stocks continue to fall. That initial $60 retail price for the game will only go so far once the initial wave of interest wanes and they'll be hard-pressed to maintain it solely on micro-transactions. Not saying they can't do it, but the GW2 players should be asking themselves where they'll be when NCsoft's next fiscal year ends if the company is still in the red.

You can even see many negative reviews of the company from the inside from current and former employees over the last several years here:
