  1. Well, this was "fun", but now it's time to go back to doing something based in reality. Have fun guys. Remember, this interwebz thing is serious business, and should be treated as such. =D

Here watch I'll deal with this one the same way I dealt with the last one. No, you made a comparison based on an inference. I responded to the inferred recipient, me. Either way, arguing with you is as pointless as your posts are irrelevant. I'll just state that you and I have irreconcilable differences, and that is based on your lack of common sense, and your obvious need to project your intellectual "prowess" onto other people in a way to make yourself seem more important than they are.

See, I just did to you what you did to her. I must want to be smart and important just like you.

I don't know about that. I mean they had a plan to get the support of the almighty and super relevant BOB SEGER!!! You know the singer from the 70's & 80's that someone happens to have a relative that knows. You know the guy that actually has never played this game? With logic like this, how could they fail?

I did answer it. I stated that your assessment of my actions was in fact off the mark.

If you're going to do that on a public forum, you can't hide behind a false shield of reasonableness. As is always true on any public forum, if you challenge someone, you should be prepared to be challenged in kind. And you have no right to set the rules of that discussion to explicitly favor your own expression.

Its equally ludicrous for people to keep saying nothing others say changes anything, as if they were exempted. Trying to preempt the last word by saying anything I say changes nothing is something that if you actually believed it, and believed the proper course of action is to be silent, you'd have been silent.
Nope sorry, my choice to call you out on your forum nazi attitude has nothing to do with my beliefs on how you should express your feelings for the game being shut down. We ALL think this sucks, and we're all here b!tch!ng about it, even me. However, I don't live here in this fantasy world, and when I see people that do seem to want to live here attacking someone who has a more realistic attachment to the game then I decide to speak up. To use their own logic against them, I may not have a chance of changing their minds, but I'm also not going to call a politician, threaten them, call them hurtful names on a personal level, or any of the other ridiculous stuff that's being lobbied towards NCSoft right now.

    Next point?

I'm going to keep making my noises and keep pissing people off.

    Your'e welcome.
Do what you need to do, but remember, the game ends on the 30th. What you do in real life isn't a game and you don't get do-overs. Have fun, make noise.

Funny because I see what you're doing as identical to the behavior you're accusing her of. People deal with emotions differently, and no one has a right to stop someone from experiencing and processing their emotions in their own way. THIS is what a few people on here (and even more on COHTitan) are doing, they want things to be THEIR way and won't tolerate any expression of thought or conflict, even in the form of a healthy debate.

Now, there is a difference between discouraging feelings and discouraging certain actions. The people saying it's probably time to move on are saying that they see the writing on the wall, and generally don't believe the delusions that are being created and perpetuated by certain people. These people have been called out and challeneged as if it's wrong of them to not want to get themselves all stirred up for what amounts to a bunch of hearsay and fantasy. The other group is doing things that are honestly in pretty bad taste to say the least and could have negative impacts on people that weren't even involved, all for the life threatening potential of losing a video game.

Now, go ahead and turn your aggression towards me if you want, but remember, it doesn't change anything. Come November 30th, you'll have to go somewhere else (on another forum I imagine) to get your argument fix.

While not optimistic, at least their response is REALISTIC. It's not threatening or defaming NCSoft ar portraying them as the fictional villains from the game. I'd say they were adjusting and recovering from the loss of a favored game better than many on this forum.

Yeah, this is how we want to come off as Americans, politically incorrect and offending YET ANOTHER CULTURE. The BS is getting really thick and really rancid, and I'm not talking about NCSoft's announcement here.

Some people are acting like impetuous children, trying to offend all Koreans with the way they're making racist and inappropriate comments. It's not like NCSoft insulted America (now here is where someone shows how immature they are by saying they did), they made a business decision. People don't like it, but you know what? THIS IS THE REAL WORLD, and things like this happen daily in all sorts of industries.

Guys seriously find a way to come to grips with this, even if you're going to keep trying to get the game to endure. DON'T do anything that will shame ALL of US. Making an *** of yourself won't shame them it will shame US. If you're not able to move on with your life, then may I suggest some therapy? Games, movies, tv shows, etc get cancelled and close down all the time. If you can't survive this then that says something about your life, and maybe you should spend more time investing in your life so you don't need something like this game to find happiness.

For anyone interested, I started playing the game in May of '04 and have 4 active accounts. I have played this game as long as just about anyone, but it is just a game. It's not more important than my family, my health, my life, my career, etc all of which I am lucky enough to still have.

"I'll give you 5 million for it." "Nope I want 20 million." "I only have 5." "Well it was a pleasure of talking to you, maybe we can work something out in the future." Shake hands and that's the end of it just like that.
Makes more sense than "NCSoft is trying to test our resolve" doesn't it? Not that we know for sure but this way of looking at it seems more probable and less delusional =)

I mean wouldnt both parties of the talks would have seen that coming as the talks went on. Unless they were going well and one party said something of the likes, "Ok I'll call you. DONT CALL ME!! I'll call you." then followed it up the next morning with, "we are declining your offer."

Ever negotiated with someone and you can tell when things are not working out even before the talks ends? Or maybe just me.
Not necessarily. It probably started with "would you consider selling?" When the answer was maybe that might be a "good sign". I bet where it crashed was when the amount came into play. Money doesn't always come up immediately.

Yeah, but let's be real people for a second ok? You're not the character you pretended to be playing the game here.

    I've seen everything from ..

"Let's sue them and force them to GIVE us the game"

"Let's be the superheroes we were meant to be"

    "Let's picket government offices"

    "Let's involve politicians"

"The game HAD to have been making millions, even though we have no idea what their overhead was"

"Let's get celebrities to claim this means something to them" (whether they played the game or not)

"This is what everything means, because my husband said so"

"NCSoft is now out to get us, and they're sending people here to weaken our resolve"

"Force them to sell" (Even though none of us has come forward with that kind of cash yet)

Let's be honest, this is getting to be half desperation, half bat $h*t crazy. It's not even close to being grounded in logic. Half of the time they break into game talk like they're fighting an AV. You can get tired of the realists all you want, but at the end of the day this IS a video game.

We should all approach life in this fashion. Don't live based on regret or remorse. Live based on unashamed vulnerability and complete lack of inhibition. If NCSoft isn't remorseful, why should we be?

Or, if you truly want to go the other way, then be remorseful that we as players didn't do enough to keep this game alive. We didn't hit the streets to shout it's praise. We only had that drive to decry our unfair treatment from NCSoft after they threatened to take our game away.

I choose the first category. It stings less and enables better growth.

It's over. Accept it and move on.

And before anyone jumps on me like a school of rabid pirranas, let me just say that for the first week and a half after the announcement all I could do was cry. I went through basically all of the stages of grief since that accounement came to pass, I am now at acceptance.

NC doesn't want to sell to us; accept it. Can't accept it? Oh well. I'm no longer wasting my energy on something that isn't going to be magically saved. What happened with this game sucks rocks, but really... there isn't much you can do to make NC change their mind. If they don't want to sell to us then they won't. If they want a few million then that is what we'll have to pay.

Just... there is too much false hope flying around at this stage. Just let it go. Appreciate what we've had for 8 years. OKay...I'm done. Feel free to bash away.
The healthiest way to approach this right here. You can't force someone to do anything with what's theirs. You can't make them take less than what they want for something they don't have to part with. You guys did a good job of making noise. Now, go enjoy the damn game. SHOW your respect for the work that went into the game by experiencing it. Standing in AP and not even playing the game isn't going to give you any fulfilment. Play it like it just came out, savor every minute. Grab a PUG and have fun. Remember it the right way, not just this crap.
  15. We also don't know WHO is responsible for the nnouncement, it could have been someone at Paragon. Try to keep level heads guys.
  16. Let's be realistic for a second. I have a $300k house (CoX), I want to get out of it and move. I entertain offers, but all I get are offers that are less than what I could get for demoing the house and selling the land (tax deduction for the loss). People are offering me $30k when the land is worth $100k alone.

Is this a realistic offer? Does this mean I wasn't willing to sell, or that no serious buyers were coming along (ones with enough money to make it worthwhile for me to keep the house in tact and sell instead of demoing and selling the land)?

It would imply they were pretending to grant full support to Paragon for new development while they knew such support was false and guaranteed to be unsustainable.

The alternative is "exhausted" means they thought about all the options and decided not to actually engage any of them.
Or that the available options were unrealistic. It's not like Bill Gates showed up, offered them $100m and they said no.

  19. Sad to say but I saw it coming. It was a good run.
  20. Question, why hasn't posi posted since the 19th? I looked and didn't find anything saying he had moved on and was unable / unwilling to post anymore.
  21. There's a lot of advice on here, and I would consider some of it in bad form. I have a Fire/Regen Scrapper that I pvp with all the time. He has a 3 - 4 billion influence build. There are some things I want to clarify...

    1) Properly built regens are hard to kill, but not impossible no matter how they're built. For proof of this I offer up my SS/WP Brute which never loses duels with regens, and these are well built regens with veteran players behind them.

    2) Phase CAN be a good power if played appropriately, but you have to use up more power choices to get to it, which can be detrimental in the long run.

    3) Fire Sword Circle is not a power I would drop. It gives the ability to hit a mob if you're standing in on, say like a MM mob, or a group of players. It also allows for another purple set, which will raise your acc and rech, along with having a nice proc.

    4) The Fitness set is needed on a regen, period.

    5) Tough, combined with Resilience and the PVP inherent resistance makes a nice stackable resistance when going against SS brutes, and is very helpful.

    6) Regen and Recharge are the best things to focus on when building a Regen Scrapper.

    7) I've had both the Body Mastery and Weapons Mastery sets and they are both very helpful. Weapons has caltrops and webnade, both of which are very useful in PVP. Body has the new Physical Perfection which will help with Regen and placement of unique IO's.

Bottom line is I have one of the more successful regens on my server and I would be willing to help you out if you need it. I have no intention of debating on a public thread though, as some people here are out to do nothing but troll and argue. Let me know if I can be of assistance.
