Quote:You can try to blame those that bought the gun, you can try to blame those that provided the bullets - certainly, some of the responsibility belongs there; but the direct and immediate blame lies on the one that pulled the trigger - in this case, that would be those who were on strike. But yeah, easier to blame a bunch of bakers than it is to blame the people in charge, or something.
Had they taken the pay cut, the company might've gone under a little further down the road anyway and then they wouldn't have been to blame, but since they decided to take the dog out back and shoot it they're directly responsible for shooting the dog. It doesn't matter if they had cause to do so, they're still directly responsible for it. -
If you are going to copy something, and in this context thus likely be competing against it, it would seemingly make very little sense to copy the unassailable giant. Better off establishing a relatively steady niche, I'd say.

I work graveyard shift, so I will undoubtedly be at work (and possibly on the forums assuming they last as long as the game). I may not even log into the game again.
-
That may have been why they were ultimately going to fail, but it seems the strike and thus those directly behind it is directly responsible for it failing now.

Quote:Yeah, Ninjitsu for Tanks was another thing I was continually waiting for. Alas...I was pushing for Super Strength for Scrappers/Stalkers, a modified Ninjitsu for Tankers/Scrappers/Brutes, Ice Armor for Brutes/Scrappers, and slightly modified Shield Defense for Stalkers. Some of the discussions were brief, some were more in depth. In the discussions, the main indicator I saw for these power sets not being proliferated was just plain old lack of time - like everything else.

Have I understood correctly? Doc Ock is running around as Peter Parker while Peter Parker is laid up in some hospital trapped in the Doc's meatsack?
Can I just say: Buh... wuh? -
Probably not. While there are some things I really like about this game, I've been finding ChO more enjoyable to play, overall.

Quote:I ignore people the old fashioned way with the good ol' brain filter. You could always ignore those who you find to be disruptive. I know...crazy thought using the tools provided to ya
A friend of mine said they never ignore people on forums and I quote... "Because then how would I know if they are saying anything bad about me?"
To which I replied "Who cares?" -
Quote:I, for one, have maintained my typical posting habits. They've literally asked us to police ourselves in the last few weeks of the game. They don't have the staff to do it anymore. So you see two things: posts that people would have openly made in the past that also would have been deleted by mods, and people seeing those posts NOT getting deleted and becoming braver to step even further over the line.

Quote:Didn't Coca-Cola own the currently-typical-in-America conception of Santa Claus at some point?I'm perfectly fine if you want to set all of those in the same level of truth as Don Quixote or Harry Potter... I do hope they all fall in the Public Domain realm, though. Would suck to have to strip a project I was working off from all references to Santa Claus.
God is public domain, I believe - I don't think anyone received royalties or licensing fees in any of those movies where Morgan Freeman or George Burns played Him. The estate of the original writer is over a thousand years past contention over the matter, I'd say. -
Invention Origin set bonuses... in my opinion it would have been better to have a hard cap on the various bonuses (possibly with sharply diminishing returns past the cap) to keep them from really getting out of hand.
The crafting system didn't need all those ingredients.
The Incarnate system and associated rewards and methods of accruement...
Merits of all sorts.
While I personally detest PvP, it certainly seemed harsh to turn the whole thing on its head and then never go back to it.

I don't particularly care for unions or management... but I do like Little Debbie snacks far more than Hostess. And isn't that what's really important?

Does this sort of thing qualify as "death throes" for an MMOG?

Quote:The major reason for bringing it up would be morale, I imagine. And it's not unusual to be able to mention that things are being done without being able to give details until things are more concrete - particularly if contract negotiations are involved. I'm not saying it's definitely real, just that there's a chance it could be - and if it is and it pans out, good on them. Of course, if it isn't real or it doesn't pan out - that's why I'm not emotionally invested in the outcome.See what I'm getting atis if that information is supposedly suppose to be that secret, then why even mention it, and wondering if it's even legal, if it's illegal to give out any information of what's going on. If no information can be given out, why even bother bringing it up without solid facts?
-
Quote:The lack of solid information about what may or may not be going on doesn't really tell us anything one way or another. If real efforts to continue the game are, in fact, being made then those in the know might have to keep the solid facts to themselves for now. It could also all be a load of hooey with the same info or lack thereof. I'm certainly skeptical as to whether such efforts are being made, and if they are I'm also skeptical that they'll come to any sort of fruition.Well for all the "inside" people we have I find it odd that still cant get solid facts and or evidence of what is going on. Usually inside people have, I dont know, inside information but seems some inside people are coming off as knowing exactly the same information we know except just pass on the words of any ol body that says stuff that they want to hear and believe.
Mind you, while I'm not one to maintain optimism and hope, and I will freely share my lack thereof, I'm not going to tell others that they shouldn't hope. For some, it's a powerful sustaining force. "One person's trash is another's treasure" is a statement with broad applications. -
I'll be interested if the quote in the OP is true and it pans out, but I take it with two grains of salt.

Anyone who asserts that god (or Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, for that matter) does not exist had better not try to assert elsewhere that ideas merit protection. For it is an inarguable fact that they exist as ideas, if nothing else.

The total MMO subs data as provided doesn't seem to prove anything relative to CoX's subs. Given that more and more MMOs have been cropping up year by year (with F2P becoming more common as well) those stats could be made up largely of games with 50K players or less.
