But I like how you go overboard and exaggerate the issue, it shows that you're good at this internet forum thing. The middle ground is for fools and wimps. All or nothing, right? There's just no such thing as being a little disappointed.
I'm more underwhelmed than outraged or anything like that. I just came back from a hiatus when the Freebie Friday was announced, and it was a good hook to get me playing at least until Friday. But then to get an inspiration when the exact wording in the announcement was "The item could be almost anything currently available in the Paragon Market," it didn't inspire me to make sure I'm always logged in of a Thursday night.
I just think they missed a huge opportunity to get people hooked by giving out something awesome on the first one, then disappoint on all subsequent Fridays. Now that's good marketing!
Thank you again Paragon Studios for the freebie it will come in handy, I also liked the freebie from last friday. Thank you for doing this.
Cancel the kitchen scraps for widows and lepers, no more merciful beheadings and call off christmas!

Actually the background used for the ad/announcement in the NC Launcher showed text over a tiled image of icons for the different consumables. So, no, not really, the image made it clear that the gifts were going to be a consumable.
I'm happy with that.

Thank you Paragon Studios for the freebie(s) i know im not the intended audiance for this offer as i use the market...alot buttt ill take/use anything offered
i do think it needs a pop up in game
dunno bout everyone else but i hit the nc-soft launcher and as soon as it loads i hit coh and play now and close when it says loading i very rareily take note of the picture
(above may well be just me though i tend tobe multi tasking)
i was only reminded it was freebie friday cause of this thread completeily forgotten about it since last friday

If they gave out an emote, then all the people who've already unlocked it would get nothing. Or, actually, given the terrible market interface, they would add the hat to their cart and then have the transaction fail at the checkout with the usual unhelpful message. Some people wasting their time on a trip to the market only to get nothing at all is worse marketing than everyone getting a usable consumable item.

I find myself agreeing with both of these posters for once.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I don't get why some people are acting like Paragon pancaked them or something by giving away free items.
There really is "nothing" to complain about with these free give away items. Complaints about how it should be something tangible etc... are extremely shortsighted and stomp all over the boarders of the entitlement territory. Shameful.....
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

For the second week in a row, I got my Friday Freebie and somehow, once again, escaped any trauma, anguish, outrage, disappointment or any negative consequence whatsoever in picking up a nice little thing for free.
I also bought both the panther and coyote travel powers while I was there.

Yay! I read so many annoyed comments on the FB page. I seriously cannot read a CoH post on FB before bed. I get so frustrated by all the people that complain about CoH not giving them enough X, not bringing out X in THEIR time frame or just slamming them for this weeks FREE X store item.

Anyway! I don't have time to read through all the suggestions/comments/complaints right now so I'm just going to post and hope it's not been said.
I understand you guys can't make the freebie random for each user right now. But are you guys thinking that it **will be a random item of the chosen item type each week of this becomes permanent?? And what would you think about drawing from Costume pieces, Enhancements, all types of XP boosters(I mean 1 hour types not the longer ones), insp's, temp power/consumable powers etc. I would think that big things(trays, storage, slots, etc.) would not be included even on a rare base for something like this. (and I have NO issue with that
) Another thought - picking a specific type of item(like picking team insp's but not a specific team insp) to be random for the week would make it more interesting for people to show up. BUT-what about just making it completely random? Can you put all of the item types in a pool for the generator to pick from so that you always have a chance at just about anything?? Or am I suggesting something that would make for a coding nightmare?

found a problem with the freebie, selected ten instead of one, glitched out, unclaimed freebie offer then disappears.

Sign in by 4pm sucks. Some of us have jobs (just a couple.) You should call it Freebie Friday afternoon.
It starts on Thursday evening.
I think this time limit till 4 PDT or whatever that actually means is crap. Some of us arnt getting home from work on a friday night in time to get to it. I appriciate that I have most of thursday evening but honestly a friday freebie running out before midnight in someone's local time ON A FRIDAY is kinda redonkulous...
The next Freebie Friday should be the /slap emote. Just for the reaction.

If they change it to meet your individual criteria for the hours it will likely inconvenience someone else.
IIRC, they have to enable and disable this manually anyway, so your suggestion would be that someone from Paragon Studios (possibly either Ghost Falcon or Alpha Wolf) should have to stay up extra late on two consecutive days just to make things more convenient for you rather than doing it doing their working hours?

If nothing else, just start planning to log in Thursday night for a minute or two before bed to grab the freebie. If you can't or won't be bothered to do that, then you still don't lose anything--you just don't gain a freebie.

me likes free stuff (honest, I have a drawer full of notebooks and pens from conventions and training courses
). Free dual insp? cool. that might come in handy sometime. better than a PIFOIP (punch-in-face-over-internet-protocol) or a deletion of all toons and still a +1 on business as usual.
I think some players need to manage their expectations a little bit better. They saw "FREE SUPRISE!" and read "FREE MOON!" and then felt bitter about being lied to...the only person lying to you is yourself. No-one forces you to click, if you're going to feel more angry than happy when you discover that it isnt something mind boggling then I would suggest that you resist accepting anything free in favour of maintaining your enjoyment of the game.
