That could make PvP quite exciting.

Quality of gameplay should be the deciding factor, IMO. I think you had it right when you removed the prompt.

This.

The prompt is bad but the rooting animation needs to be fixed and if anything that is what the OP is talking about. Not that the prompt is back but that you are NOW rooted when you accept. Which if you play a /Regen can get you killed real quick.

Really? It roots you now? Oy, what the heck were they thinking...? One step forward with the removal of the prompt, now two steps back with its reinstatement.

(Is it possible) Can we make it so that players have the option of automatically denying individual buffs through /slash commands (ie, /nobuff: MysticFortune, /nobuff: SpeedBoost, etc)?

This way, items setup up to be auto-denied don't even register on the players radar until they choose to remove the /nobuff.

A /autobuff: powerX command could even be added for those powers that would normally create a prompt window (TP, rezzes, MF) for people that do want those buffs but without the distracting pop-up.

In general, expanding the library of slash commands and then allowing players to assign power tray icons to them seems to be the next big step for CoX customization. (IMO)

Honestly I could care less what it does, but it was nice not having to click "Accept" or "Yes", on it all the time because I welcome the random buff. Maybe an option to see prompt every time or auto accept/deny would be beneficial to the masses

I can understand why Castle would be frustrated; there are two groups here with contradictory desires. They both can't be satisfied so long as the choice is between on-the-spot prompt, or not.

The problem isn't just Mystic Fortune, as has been alluded to here. If it were possible to restrict buffs that are targeted on one player from another player, including Mystic Fortune, Speed Boost, and so on, from everyone who's not on one's own team via an option setting; I think that would satisfy most everyone.

People who're happy to receive buffs from anyone at anytime, could set it to automatically accept, everything, all the time.

Those who don't want their play experience intruded on by people off their team, would set it to automatically decline the same buffs, everywhere, all the time.

Ah, but as the OP makes clear, some people don't even want certain buffs from their own teammates. So that's three settings for each buff in the game: accept, team only, decline. So that's three possible values, times every single ally buff in the game, times every account in the game - oh, but we want to make this setting per-character? Okay, so multiply that by however many alts, and gee whiz suddenly that's a lot of extra information to insert into the database. Now, if they have a sane database engine, it might only be moderately delicate and time consuming to insert those extra values. But that may not necessarily be the case...

Anyway, the short version is that any person who casually proposes a technical solution to this issue is only making Castle's headache worse.

On a Liberty global channel with over 90 active players last night, we had not ONE player state that they were pleased with the return to prompting. EVERYONE who stated an opinion on it preferred the prompt gone and were irritated with the prospect of its return. (Not a scientific sample)

Every time something like this comes up, I'm reminded of something I'm told a wise man says at work. Then I look at my signature to get the words right.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I am assuming that in the 2 pages of responses after this post someone did mention the possibility of a parameter in the options to choose (like the teleport prompt) but I am assuming the development time of that is bigger that just hardcoding the choice.

Um why can't you add an option similiar to team tp? That way people who want the prompt can choose to have it appear, and the normal people can have it just auto accept?

Either an option to remove the accept box or just make it auto-accept like every other buff in the game (except teleport which has an option to remove to box). What makes Mystic Fortune so special that now I have that stupid box in my face again?

Well, it was changed to fix an exploit. One might infer that said exploit has now been permanently fixed, so the power was returned to its original state.

Removing the line(s) of code that disabled the prompt is trivial. I suspect that the 'technical fixes' put forth in this thread are ... considerably more than trivial.

The rooted part, yeah, it'd be very nice to get that fixed when possible. Until then, not casting it on people in combat is probably a good idea.

Preferred the no prompt, hated Mystic Fortune when it had the prompt, never bothered me when there was no prompt. Don't mind a random buff as long as I have no idea it's being cast, and doesn't distract me.

Hey um.. Castle.. sorry to make things worse here but... now that the prompt is back... its bugged whenever you receive a buff your character goes through the animation of sending one rofl

It's a matter of user customization. We have settings that we can change for a great many prompts and onscreen warnings.

We have no such option for the Mystic Fortune. We are either forced to deal with a pop-up every time or we are forced to accept it whether we want it or not. BOTH situations give the customer no choice.

Even worse are the configuration settings for the 'high auction house fee' warning and the 'useful salvage' warning. The settings exist but they don't work.

Same for me.

How about this: No prompt if MF is cast from your current teammates, but the prompt shows up if sent from a "stranger".

That way you can tell your teammates not to MF you if you dont want it, just like you can do with every other buff.

Maybe that's simpler than adding an entirely new enable/disable selection in Options.

Not a perfect solution, but they do help.
I use ctrl+y and ctrl+n, but I was hoping someone would mention this as a quick way to get rid of the accursed dialog. (These key binds come in handy for most every dialog.)
