Fortune go my wife killed

Every thread I've seen had 3 times as many people wanting not to have the prompt than wanted to have it. The one in the test server forums felt like 10:1 and really should have caused this change to be pulled.

It really needs to be set up as an option so you can auto accept, prompt or auto decline. The prompt has got me or somebody on my team killed 3 or 4 times in the past and is extremely frustrating.

This has reversed about the only good thing in I17 if you consider the new sets to be an advance feature of GR.

Ultra mode and changes around it made several of my friends unable to play the game for weeks even without it and 1 has quit and not come back yet because of this. The new posi TF is not worth doing as the rewards are scandalously low, I'd rather ouro the old one and actually get something worthwhile out of it.

The email is nice, but eating stuff after 30 days with no warning anywhere is ridiculous. **edit - OK, it appears it's only your own emails that get deleted after 30 days, so you need multiple accounts to move stuff around if you're not going to collect quickly**

I've been playing MMOs fairly consistently for over the past decade. This is the first one I've ever played where people complain about getting buffed. Heck, when I played EverQuest, I had people go out of their way to track me down so I could give them a certain buff.

I find the whole complaint over Mystic Fortune to be very odd, to say the least.

Might I suggest randomly removing the prompt and readding it? That way, we all get to complain equally. It is only fair.

Not sure if you just didn't look in the right threads, but it seems to me that a lot of us were complaining before you changed it to have no prompt, and then were cheering when you changed it to have no prompt. If anything, it seems there are new forum faces compelled to complain now that the prompt is back. (Of course my interest makes me biased - there might be new faces cheering that it's back.)

I don't understand why you can't win. Why can't it be made an optional prompt?

I just ask one thing: don't make it optional like the market prompts are right now. That's to say, they ask you if you don't want to be warned .... ever time you zone and then do the warning incurring thing again.

Slippery slope need not apply. This thread is about Mystic Fortune. No other power has ever had a prompt. Mystic Fortune has one. Addressing this needs only be solved for Mystic Fortune. Solving it does not need to imply that all buffs now need this same problem solved; though there are absolutely people asking for that, solving this one does not obligate the devs to solve the others.

Weren't you a Wizard in EQ? I remember you from Graffe's Wizards forums, in any case.

People saying, "This choice should be something in the options menu" I neither agree nor disagree on this. That's for the UI team to decide, not me. In any case, that particular task is not one that I can undertake, so telling me doesn't really help beyond my passing it along to the powers that be.

LOL requisite RPer blaming.

Has anybody said this is because of PVP yet? Complete the cycle!

Enchanter, actually. I just posted over on Graffe's, because it was literally years before the Enchanters got organized enough to set up their own forums.

(Seriously, Castle, what buff did Wizards have that people would go out of their way to get? But I believe you were a Rogue, so maybe I should give you pass on that.)

I figured. If you do pass it on, though, it's certainly a start.

So we should blame whoever tells Castle to keep turning it off and on instead of telling the UI team to "add Mystic Fortune to the Prompt section."

Well, I don't think the suggestion was actually aimed at you - just at the dev team in general - so you're very welcome to pass it on to the UI people - the more choices players have, the better - so if they can find a way to let us decline or accept buffs via the options menu, I think it'd be awesome.

Funny enough... [WALK] did it!!

Honestly, blame exploiters for making the prompt go away the first time.

I have no issues with the prompt (It doesn't bother me and it makes some thematic sense to be asked for permission to have your fortune read, so I don't get the complaints), however, I'd love to see an auto accept/decline option for those who would like it.
I'd prefer to always have the option to accept or decline, personally. Never know when the right fortune teller will come by (As my Aunt Ezna always used to say).

Uh uh, Castle. Cantatus was an Enchanter. One of the few who frequented Graffe's. That would surely make him very familiar with buff beggars and people traveling multiple zones to get a buff (or two, in the case of hybrids).

I'd like the prompt removed again but that's basically to remove the annoyance factor. What I'd really like fixed is the "penalty" for accepting the buff (the rooting animation).

A good rule for teams: always cast MF on whomever is below you on the team list (first person if you are the last). Works quite well; when gathering by a mission door, someone calls 'fortune', everyone casts simultaneously, nobody gets missed, no time wasted. And it looks very cool. Have not encountered anyone who did not want the buff yet, but if so, it would help: one person would need to remember to buff the second person below them, rather than everyone needing to remember who should not be buffed.

I'm with the camp that doesn't want the prompt. BUT... I'm not gonna say which way makes more sense or what not. We can spend months arguing for either side. It's pointless because no one is going to change their mind. There's a solution (I think) that lets everyone walk away from this one happy. Just make the mystic fortune prompt an option like the prompt for teleport. It might be a bit more work, but it's less headache in the end. And if people complains about which way the option defaults to, I'm just gonna have to start stabbing people.

If somebody you're arguing with goes off the deep end, don't follow.

I vote castle brings the person we can "talk" with to the thread and we go from there!

There's only one thing to do, man: take it back out. Then put it back.

Well, no what your opinion of the change is, I think that we can at least all agree that in this case, the devs acted promptly.

I saw this thread title punctuated as "Fortune go: my wife killed" at first. I couldn't tell if it was a positive thing that fortune had swung that way or not.

Prompt for teleport is an option.
Prompt for Mystic Fortune should also be an option.

You know what they say, sir...you can't please all the people all the time. My personal thought on this is that any buff should be used with a modicum of intelligence, preferably at the start of a mission or inbetween fights where you know with certainty that you won't get attacked.

All buffs have an animation duration and activation time; it's not your fault that they do, it's a fundamental part of game design. If people can't utilise them in a fashion that benefit them, there will always be a group of people who will point blame at those such as yourself for that.

Whilst I do agree with an option for accepting buffs along the same lines as team invites and the like, I wouldn't feel badly for the perceptions of others.

Make it something that can be set like the prompt for teleport in the option menu. That should make every body happy. Provided that there moderately intelligent. And considering how many that aren't you should include a check box in the popup that will disable it.
