Quote:I was just going to say this. There seems to be a limiting "distance from your character" involved, too, beyond which you do not see the last one of anything. I've been noticing this lately on large maps. This feature has been a bit unpredictable since day one, at least for me. Usually it works just fine, but often it doesn't.
I've noticed that sometimes the last spawn will not show up on the map if you're too far away from them. Then when you get closer, the red arrow suddenly appears on the map. Not sure why distance matters. -
As far as QoL goes, I'd be ecstatic if they could just fix the bug that blanks out your Nav window when you zone. It's been doing this now for years.

Quote:This. Usually a combination of the AoE hold and the ST hold will get your mag up enough to hold EBs. (I can't speak for AVs since I'm not insane enough to go up against AVs solo.) It won't be for long, though, so keep applying the holds as they recharge (extra recharge helps here). Shift in tactics is required for the Praetorian guys, no matter what AT. I learned that way back when I took my first near-50 through that arc. Just keep going 'til you find what new tactics work. IO bonuses for extra mag hold, sleep, fear, confuse, whatever may be the way to go here too.If you're having difficulties you can remedy them with a shift in tactics and the appropriate power and IO bonus selections in your build.
All this being said, my grav/rad controller is still sitting at 45 for this very reason. I may be forced to only progress her through the arc when I can find a group that wants to do it. -
Quote:I fell in love with rad/rad early on. One of my first ten characters, she was the first defender I had that could really not only survive, but kick some butt as well, I soloed her mostly with no problem. After discovering defenders through her, I was then able to go on and play other defenders, including those that had stymied me before (kin and storm, I'm looking at you), more easily.Am I too late to throw in a vote for Rad/Rad? Hard for you to get hit, hard to miss once you hit, you get almost as much love as a kin on teams, and you even get a bit of control for good measure too. Mine was my first alt to break 20 and first to hit 50 and it'll only get better once the crashless nukes and perma-snipe kick in.
I agree that after getting the changes with crashless nukes and perma-snipe, she'll be worth dusting off once again, I can't wait. -
Quote:Actually, as many others here have already said, the regular contacts are the bed and Ouro is the couch, the place for a quickie nap. The regular contacts contain all the flavor and variety of missions that make this game what it is. Ouro is a place to go get that one mission (or arc) that eluded you before. Ouro is not the game. Ouro is only a tool.Actually, it is like asking if you sleep alone why do you sleep on the couch or only on one side of the bed instead of sleeping in the most comfortable place.
Running arcs through Oro is more convenient then running them not through Oro. Oro is the bed, regular contacts are the couch.
But yeah, sure, if you want to rush to 50, you go right ahead. The chances I ever see that character (or team with him), even once he reaches 50, then become even slimmer. I'm guessing that's a good thing. -
I skipped DS before the changes and see no reason to respec into it, even now. I'm not all that thrilled with Spring Attack either. I guess I'd rather use Teleport Foe.

Quote:"Cosmic" can be good. My current Grav/Energy dom's concept is that she was imbued with the powers of the sun, so Gravity + Energy was a no-brainer. They do work well together. I saved my "telekinetic" concept for my Mind/Psi dom. She's more fun than a box full of puppies.I went less for "cosmic" concept and more "telekinetic"...but hey...that's just me. With how many of the grav powers worked combined with the kinetic aspect of energy (read: knock stuff on their butts)...worked out quite well.

Quote:QFT. We'll see how bored he is after he's 50+3 and has run the Magisterium trial about 90,000 times.Ugh. DfBs are super super boring. I can only stand to do like 2 of them a week... at most.
But, then, I have never cared about "fast" XP, just so long as the team isn't either: a) fighting stuff far too low so that nothing is gained from the mission or b) fighting stuff waay too high so that it takes us like 5-10 minutes per group of purples.
I could never understand why folks want "fast XP" if the ride is boring and over before you know you arrived.
Thank God he's on Freedom is all I can say. Chances are I'll never encounter him in-game. -
Quote:Have we finally achieved the "WoW-ification" of CoX?Assuming that the idea is that Battallion is a higher tier threat that is more challenging but offer rewards unavailable through DA/Preatoria Incarnate content then I would definitely advocate making the minimum difficulty higher (although probably 50+3 so that they are even con to an Incarnate with the basic level shifts).
Since when is "maxxed-out" considered "basic"? -
Quote:I have Deep Blue Sea, also! (Water/Ice blaster)I have two: Deep Blue Sea (time/water defender) and Super Big Gulp (water/ice blaster).
Only she's on Justice.
Thing is, I was thinking Time would be a great one to pair up with Water on a defender or corruptor, but just haven't found the right concept yet. -
Quote:I dunno, man. Just like Dominators aren't Controllers (you seem to have learned that lesson), well, Dominators aren't Blasters, either. Playing them like they are will only end badly.I have a Plant / Energy Dominator that I have been thinking of re-rolling. It was a Dominator I made when Issue 6 first launched. Back then, my focus was on Power Boost because I had thought of Dominator's more as controllers rather then damage dealers. Jumping forward, now that I see the end game (Incarnates) and control is kind of useless in them and damage is king.
So I have been thinking of rerolling for a better secondary. Fire seems like the best choice but I wanted to get opinions.
1) Are there any secondaries where I can deal a LOT of AOE damage while maintaining good single target DPS? I know Psi can deal a lot of AOE damage but its single target is bad? (Also I remember Psi before the adjustments... when it was an AOE monster with a huge AOE)
2) Is there anyway to get a lot of AOE power from the ancillary/patrol pools? If so, I suppose I could stick with my current setup.
3) What Doms can fight mostly at range?
Pretty much my goal is to have a Dom that can go into a +8 swarm, toss out Carrion Creepers/Seeds of Confusion, and AOE down the spawn and wipe out the bosses with good single target DPS. -
Quote:Sorry, I was going to ignore this issue, but this yanked my chain hard enough that I had to speak out.nerf IO's? nerf hasten? nerf luck of the gamblers?
What is wrong with you people? Its like you've all gone mad.
wait, is this coming from people who cant afford the inf for a decent build? Cause these idea's are beyond ridiculous. IO's are amazingly cheap now. If you think 100 mil is a lot, well, you just arent very good at this game.
Hasten is THE single biggest crutch in this game. It is people who think it is "necessary" on EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER who just aren't very good at this game (or maybe just lazy). Hasten is NOT the legendary "I win" button many people think it is.
However, like powerleveling, it's been out of the bag for far too long now that people see it as "necessary" when nothing is further from the truth. In fact, I can't remember when I last took Hasten on a character. Learn to freaking play your characters instead of shackling them all with a clumsy mechanic and you won't need Hasten either. Srsly. If you feel you just can't play your characters without Hasten it's probably years overdue for the nerf bat. Devs just don't want to deal with the global whining that would take place. Look what happened when they tried to curb farming. Same thing. Favorite crutches that people just can't give up. -
Quote:Yeah, but what if the name or a portion of it is a product trademark, not belonging to any current or former character, like "The Jello Shooter", or "The Big Mac" or "The Freightliner"? Would these be genericized by name alone? The rule is nice and simple:
If somebody else owns the rights to the character, you can get genericed for copying it. Book, TV show, movie, doesn't matter. Copyright is copyright. Katniss Everdeen, Superman, and Captain Jack Sparrow are all equally against the rules.
Sufficiently obscure characters may escape genericing for a while, or even indefinitely, but that's mostly because nobody will realize to report them, not because they are actually allowed. -
AFAIK, you can access the Pillar of Ice and Flame and the Flashback system in Ouroboros without doing Pilgrim's arc. Doing Pilgrim's arc is recommended, however, for people new to Ouroboros, as it is an Introduction to the Flashback system. But the arc unlocks nothing you couldn't access before doing it.

Quote:Not only will I not team with them, I will one-star ANYone I see using a yellow-tinted water blast. Lemonade... yeah, right. I just hope the devs are serious and prepared for the flood of complaints on this one. They're tossing a yellow liquid that deals Cold damage at enemies. They say it's urine, I say it's lemonade. Protest as they might, they can't prove they're not drenching foes in cool, refreshing lemonade. It's just my word versus theirs.
Also, like any other person doing something you find distasteful, don't team with them. -
Quote:This is the one that gives Knows No Fear if completed without help, yes?I soloed it with a Peacebringer; took about an hour though. Judgment (Cryonic in this case) was my big go-to opener for the Talon groups. Most of my time was spent kiting the monsters.
It was much much quicker with a tank/troller duo. As long as you don't accept the NPC help, you should get a badge if you successfully complete it.
Ginsunami Neko (DB/WP scrapper) soloed this one and got Knows No Fear. Without Judgement and before a Level Shift, btw.It took quite a while, yes, but it was totally worth it. Not sure if I'll try it again on another character, it was a long, epic mission. She's probably my only character crazy enough to attempt it.

Quote:Think of yourself as playing a role. With lines to say. You know, like in a movie?Perfect Grifter.
I had that role four or five times last night and was never able to figure out the right things to say to get the Perfect Grifter badger. Reading through the forums, it looks like the badge requires some combination of flirting and saying something crass.
This is a big problem for me. As a female player, playing androphilic characters, I'm not going to choose to make my characters flirt with a female NPC. But even if I did (and I tried that once since I thought I'd exhausted the other trees), I'm definitely NOT going to choose 'say something crass'.
The designers need to take this one back to the drawing board. Who is this event written for? Adam Sandler? The second Grifter objective can be satisfied by choosing any one of the initial three branches. The first objective needs to be the same.
This is a misstep. And a pretty misogynistic one, at that. I hope I missed an alternative for getting the badge. -
You know, for a story arc that you enjoyed so much, you'd think you'd get her name right more than once out of three tries.
Edit: Oh, sorry. Once out of FOUR tries, if you include the thread title. -
Quote:(Yeah, srsly.)I am duly chastened and edu-mah-cated regarding Scrapper/Stalker snipes, thanks.
(Of course, I can't imagine ever taking a snipe from the pools on either AT, but my playstyle isn't your playstyle, boom-de-yadda boom-de-yadda.)
To be precise, though, ONLY Patron Power Pools have snipes, and only three out of the four sets have a snipe. Moonbeam from Soul Mastery, Zapp from Mu Mastery and Mace Beam from Mace Mastery. No other ranged Patron powers are snipes, and there are NO snipes in the Ancillary Power Pools. Just because a power is ranged doesn't make it a snipe. -

Quote:I have been playing a KM/EA scrapper on Justice and I agree, it is a blast. Way better than I originally assumed.I am not a build guy, but I just want to chime in on how WONDERFUL this combo is to play. Pure joy!
Regarding this guy's build, I've never been a fan of Hasten (overhyped, and often an excuse for bad play), and I have never taken Fly on a melee character, I like SJ too much. Also, I usually take Body Mastery on my scrappers, mainly for Focused Accuracy, Conserve Power and Physical Perfection. I also agree with John, you want Quick Strike.
All that said, I'm still gonna take this build and store it away until such time as I start looking at kitting out my KM scrapper. I'll take it out then and see what I can take from it and others as good suggestions. I haven't seen a lot of KM/EA builds yet. -
Quote:Mislabeled? No, that's actually what it is.For the record, if we're really going to categorize this side of the argument as a temper tantrum, then the other side can easily be similarly mislabeled as a greedy child clutching toys to his chest and screaming "MINE!"
My character names ARE mine, and NO, you CAN'T have them. -
Yet I'm sure you've heard of a RickRoll, right? About a year and a half ago, we had some clown on Freedom always trying to RickRoll people at CC's.
