  1. Are any of you familiar with process explorer? When I crash the gauge of 'I/O' is maximized and I wonder if it may explain the situation.
  2. http://bit.ly/VUiFOn

We can save a large portion of the game, at least video!

The project could make possible scripted web sites to insert a custom-built character in the content and support a video musuem.

The project has made impressive progress however I could use recruits.

    Tips require help

Villain content could use a few more

    Trials are especially important

The crusader line has a lack of video

Repeatables are not covered a lot

Standard original content has close to 1/3 completion

I could even use volunteers to speed jobs I could not complete quickly
  3. Since yesterday, when I enter a mission or occasionally exit, the loading screen can freeze at approximately 5% progress. If I switch windows and switch back it displays a screen of the door and I can hear the ambient sound but there is no interface.

Closing the program I try to log in but I often get 'cannot connect to server' the first attempt and if I then log in again I get a freeze if I attempt to enter the same server and ultimately a 'DB error' booting me to the login again.

ANOTHER attempt then has a usual process until I attempt another mission and it starts again.

I attempted reinstall but no change, and I did not change much on the computer beyond installing beta a while ago.

Sickle cell anemia I wonder if anybody remembers him? Primarily Virtue player.
  5. Question, if these explain why a corporation is closing it, are there any kind of investor or corporation that may WANT the game?

Personally, I think this should be a platform for a steam workshop service.
  6. You need an emulator offline server to mimic a valid login and whatever else is required to use the costume creator, probably power info.

This is considerably easier compared to a map emulator.
  7. Ask if you can change subscription money to Paragon points.
  8. Please clarify the article about the COH protest / Unity Rally

I write to implore you to clarify this article, because critical background information is not included and a lot of people are interpreting the rally, expressly organized to support the development team, as a DOS attack or angry mob.

Please understand - the team and a lot of the player base are desperately trying to attract investors or another gaming company to buy it out or convince the publisher to let them.

The Unity Rally was explicitly organized as a show of support and loyalty to demonstrate financial viability. People actually requested that the protesters NOT use emotes like a protest sign or angry speech. The torch was popular but some people without context interpreted it as a mob organizing instead of a vigil. A costume contest honoring a favorite developer was held immediately after the event!

That costume contest should explain why this is not just another MMO closure. The game is a way people express their creativity and community. No other game has supported such a massive library of customization and community options. You can customize costumes and write a biography and build a base involving thousands of objects and customize the animations of the abilities you have. Along with the extreme level of dev communication and participation what you have is a smaller scale version of, for a popular example, a publisher buying out Mojang and not only ending Minecraft but automatically having every world a player created deleted with little warning, despite the player community still supporting the game to a modest profit by the way. I believe that the creative aspect of the title, not similarities to the reeling industry of major MMOs, is why the game can still increase its profits and attract investors with enough publicity.

I participated in the rally and was amazed at the success. A player organized this through the forums and despite different time zones and schedules, many players not even getting the news and having to get informed through chat channels in the game, and a large population not participating because they had given up, we got 4000 people and surprisingly the extreme majority cooperated with requests to demonstrate class and it had a shocking lack of trolls. The developer team was humbled and amazed at the huge amount of support.

The good news was a huge improvement to morale: trending on twitter, a lot of articles, and then KOTAKU! But when I saw a lot of people taking the Kotaku article out of context and accusing the players of DOS, it was like a punch to the gut.

Please, for creative and social gaming, or celebrating developers who interact with the players, I implore you, please post a followup and edit the post to let people know the story has a lot more involved.

    Additional info and references:

The organization post. Definitely not a DOS or tantrum.

"Our next Call to Action is something fun that will be a display of unity, an opportunity for photo ops for press releases and communications to NCsoft, and that best of all will simultaneously give a shot in the arm of morale to people who probably need it badly and deserve our unwavering support: the programmers, designers, managers, marketers, artists, testers, accountants, community relaters, moderators, administrative assistants, and everyone else with a job title that doesn't fit neatly in the above whose incredible talents and awesome work ethic have built the world in which our imaginations live."

    Confirmation that discussions have happened.

[Admin] Alpha Wolf: Sorry guys but I don't have any new update. I know Paragon management is having discussion with ncsoft and investors. Continue get people to sign online petitions, post on game forums, and just continue to make noises so ncsoft cannot ignore players.

    Cash-eesh

Consider that a lot of the players do not read the forums and would not know of the event.

And remember that a lot of people did not come because of appointments.
  10. The players have got media attention, which was the goal.

HOWEVER, the rally has a lot of stories as a 'protest,' and the primary goal was a show of solidarity, determination, loyalty. We should not let it create a story that the rally was just a whinefest, instead of a positive event intended to demonstrate to investors and executives that the game has a solid, dependable base to provide plenty of profit and financial stability, at least if the paragon market was improved and offered better monetization.

Please make the goal a priority and respond to articles not just to thank the media for covering this but to demonstrate our intentions, especially in articles such as the post at kotaku where the commenters are taking the opposite.

Absolutely you should get in afk or not!

DO NOT emote protest but a common suggestion is the torch.
  12. By entering the mode of a strike force, through oro, architect, etc, you can stay on while afk in Atlas park indefinitely.

If possible enter the instance with the highest number so no single instance has a ton of people not active and chatting. Please avoid any negative against the company because they are in control of the leverage and we are trying to convince them we should let the game be recovered, and investors are a lot more interested if you should showcase how LOYAL subscribers are to the game and the power a customer base can bring in the form of consistent money, not anger.

PLEASE do not feed a troll no matter what.

    iReport

This article is a whole lot better than the other one and more probable to get attention.
  14. I strongly seconded a suggestion to add a taunt aura to melee hybrid.

I suggested storm summoning be brought to masterminds, was laughed at, and it arrived later.
  15. A possible option may be expensive 'supporter' type purchases in the store.
  16. Arbiter Hawk said that the efforts have gotten attention "at a high level."

[Help] Chaos Ex Machina: hey hawk, what were the nemesis warhorses supposed to be? mobs? lair decoration?
[Help] NCsoft_Arbiter Hawk: They were going to be an enemy in the group

Help] Chaos Ex Machina: my little nemesis... i used to wonder what plotting could be... until you shared its SCIENCE! with me

[Help] Chaos Ex Machina: sharing gang wars, it's a clandestine feat
[Help] Chaos Ex Machina: and SCIENCE! makes it all complete
  17. How can I tell the supposed date of VIP status of the account?
  18. Rumor has it you keep any status you have NOW, but I do not want to trust a rumor and need the information to schedule my 'finalization' activities.

Is there a way to learn when a VIP status ends? I could never get back into my account's billing when the 'new security' was added a few years ago.

PLEASE, I beg you, provide a hint of why we should believe this or ANYTHING more to suggest legitimacy or how you would know.

I am desperately grasping at straws so I would like to believe.

Please elaborate who else you think may be bidding, because SOE was confirmed not to.
  21. I would be ecstatic about SOE or anybody else buying the game even if they were terrible at running it. Another reprieve creating another year plus of running would be welcome.

It would be very unfair to go on some sort of anti-Cryptic or anti-Champions Online campaign based on unsubstantiated rumors. NCSoft chose to end this game we all love, shutter Paragon Studios, and release their dedicated team of talented people into the wild. I have no idea why, but as far as I know it has nothing to do with Cryptic/Perfect World.
    Thank you much!
