iReport

I created a iReport on CNN, with the intent to raise awareness to a broad audience. It is not an emotional plea, but intended to a slightly entertaining yet informative read.

Please feel free to view it, fave it, and most of all recommend it.

That was very well done! Bravo! More of this.

There's no law saying we can't upvote both iReports, but I think the OP's is closer to CNN's guidelines for writing an iReport. As such, I think it's far more likely to pass whatever vetting process comes once an iReport reaches 2000 recommendations.

Yeah, comparing the two of them, I think Vengeance Mk 2's is more comprehensive in covering all the efforts to save the game, and more journalistic to boot.

By no means was this meant to detract from the existing post, but yes, the journalistic feel, I felt, could have been improved upon. I recommended the first one already. But, that said, it does have a tone that you really have to be in game, to really understand.

Ill see what I can clean up.

Nor would I want to do that, either. But if the CNN community is only getting one shot to see what we're all about, I want it to be as good as we can make it.

Speaking of... TonyV's press release should be in the wild by now. Parts of that could be used, I'm sure.

I just posted links from each article to the other in the comments on both. Hopefully that should help raise visibility.

@Draeth Darkstar
Virtue [Heroes, Roleplay], Freedom [Villains], Exalted [All Sides, Roleplay]
Code:
I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30))
Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.

Good thinking, Draeth. Thanks!

I tried that too. It seems they auto kill any post with a link.

By the way, Vengeance: if you can still edit the article, I popped the text into a spellchecker and found a few typos.

"... but Paragon Studios set the tone, publically focusing on the positive achievements ..."

"... groups such as The Titan Network (http://www.cohtitan.com) are spreaheading multiple rescue operations ..."

"... closing down a*product suddenly has become much more complicated than before, espicially when that product has an active social network attached to it ..."

I'm not trying to nitpick, mind, I just want to help this article get vetted.

Thank you for the corrections. Ill fix them now.

1600 views? In less than a day? I post nudie pics that dont get that kind of love!

and I have to say.. that intro.. specifically making it gender neutral so the reader could place themselves as the hero... DAMN that was hard to write!

One of my friends is a really active cosplayer; I showed her that link, and she immediately started passing it to her friends in that community, with a line like "How would you feel if they told you that you couldn't dress up at cons anymore?" Two of those people immediately hit up their contacts.

We can mobilize other communities, if we present ourselves in exactly the right way!

Very well done. Already recommended and commented. Keep up the good work, heroes.

Awesome. Thats exactly the response I wanted to get. IE people outside COH taking notice. Kudos.

Very nice article! One minor nitpick, not sure if it's warranted, but City of Heroes still is around for now so why use "was" when referring to it? Specifically it is a reward winning game just sounds better to me than it was a reward winning game. Or is the past tense better because no one new can join? Like I mentioned, minor nitpick. Overall I love the write up, recommended it, and shared it on Facebook already! Thank you for writing it up!

This article is a whole lot better than the other one and more probable to get attention.

Its doing well so far.. approaching the 2k mark. One CNN staffer commented to me on it. Keep sharing it. We havent hit the critical mass to go viral yet.

OK once again you have to have people actually recommend it if you want a producer from CNN to look at it to actually cover on CNN. Yes you have almost 2000 views with only 70 recommends. The other one has almost 5000 views with only 461 recommends. When you advertise these please please please tell people to scroll down and recommend it. I think if we can get CNN to pick this up it would be very powerful. Looking up this ireport process we would need 2000 recommends to have a producer look at it so it's really important to get the info out there right away.

Bottom is what you need to click on (yes you need to register) top leftish is where you can see the # of recommendations.

You are absolutely right PhillyG.

I have been getting the word out, and honestly a 1% recommend ratio is pretty average for many iReports. We are hampered by our relatively isolated population, and the fact that extra steps are needed to do this, opposed to just clicking a 'like' button.

IF (a big if) the community wants to push this iReport as its outreach to the public over the other one (for reasons already mentioned) then I suggest taking it to the servers.

Let people know aobut it, and the importance to recommend it. Get it stickied in your local server channels. TALK about it at events.

Again, nothing against the prior ireport.. it was an awesome start that inspired me to write what I did, but.. its probably not the type of journalism that will make it onto CNN.

I just put the first one in the Justice Motd yesterday I'll try to add this one to it next time I am on. Honestly I don't care which one makes it I just want the word out on a powerful news source.
