  1. Hyperstrike, you said it best.

Tanks, It has been an honor!
  2. yeah, there were a couple in there that I missed during the hilarity Ael and I are still gettin a chuckle out of it
  3. Oh I wish I had a recording of the what.. 20 odd people we had on skype at that time. pure gold

    Rangle, I salute you
  4. Ahhh that all Rangle Mother Ship Raid, was so hilarious... I would PAY money to have that happen again
  5. lol, that was great, now I want to watch big trouble in little china again
  6. Also, if you block in CO it will fill your blue bar, sometimes rather quickly too, at least on my behemoth it does. *though I hate that mechanic, it means your stuck not doing anything, I think*
  7. I must also admit to the whole 'lost' issue. It's a shock to the system, like being suddenly yanked off medication, yes I am liking it to that, after all, some of the symptoms almost match. (yes I have actually been there in my past)

Well, I've owned STO since it was released, and really hadn't played it much, my original sub was CoH and I couldn't really justify subbing to both even though I like STO. However it is now F2P and with CoH closing down, i've been over there a lot more, so much in fact i've hit 50 on 2 characters already. Since CO uses the same system and is also F2P I created a character over there as well, but CO seems a bit rough around the edges, so far the only reason its there is because it shares my STO account. I do like that it does that though, I'd recommended it to anyone here. Hey, its free, both games are already filled with CoH players, channels, fleets, guilds etc.

The Secret World is another one my wife and I are thinking about, but to be honest, i'm a little 'meh' with spending sub money again.

Although I didn't like the wing commander series a whole lot, It was very popular and Chris Roberts latest project looks very interesting

EvE Online is a maybe too. I do like that game and have played it in the past.
  8. NCsoft won't sell CoH for anything. They'll sit on the IP and let it die, why? so no one else can profit off it. I had a stray thought though, what if someone was to pick up the IP with the promise not to make a profit on it? make it a not for profit mmo? I know kinda weird, money comes in to pay the devs and maintainance, extra gets put into updates.

  10. Sorry we missed it. Had an appointment right when it started.
  11. whats with its default jumping animation for females.. its like my character went to finishing school just to learn how to jump like a 'lady' before I charge off and clobber someone. ergh. I took Athletics and run it full time just to get rid of it

    I totally agree

While I am liking CO so far (though its animation and story writing need work) , and I have enjoyed playing STO on and off since It came out (more so lately for obvious reasons), I will never invest in them the way I did with CoH.

Infact, it would have to be nothing short of amazing for me to ever put up the cash the way I did with CoH. Look, im not even a huge comic book fan. The only comic I ever read (and own actually) is a couple of old, Rocko's Modern Life comics.

I always played First person shooters or stratergy games, but a friend introduced me to CoH and both my wife and I picked up on it. It was fun, easy to learn, rewarding, both my wife and I have yet to find a game as easy to team in as CoH. Plus CoH was vibrant! We had real communication and understanding with our devs, something you'll never see in another video game. Even with all the time we've spent in STO, trying to communicate with anyone higher up is next to impossible, and i've been told by a few to 'forget it' when it comes to CO.

But yes, to sum it up, I will be playing CO and STO. We have friends in both, but you'll never see me put as much into them as our City of Heroes.
  13. To be honest, I would check it out. It depends how well it was being handled as to whether I would stay or not.
  14. Beautiful.

See, if we had another issue or two, maybe every zone in CoH could look that good. Praetoria changed what I thought of the game engine, it looked like it had caught up with the new mmo's out there, and I was instantly hooked. Goes to show you we really did have an amazing developement staff, to take a 8 year old (or what? 10 years counting development) game engine and produce something as amazing as Praetoria.

I hope they all find work, I really do. But getting their PS jobs back would be good too
  15. My thoughts.
I only just started playing this game for a month or so, and the only reasons I am is

    a) it is F2P after all, so why not.
    b) I think its a good way to keep in touch with other CoH players, after all there is a CoX channel with over 600 members. plus I have played STO on and off for years, and the games talk with each other, good stuff there.

Its free, might as well try and make something work, even if its just a temporary thing until CoH V2.0 comes out and we all go over there instead.

I am the first to admit that CO... needs help, it does, now those who like it don't get all defensive, I am enjoying it so far!

The costume creator gets you by, first time I started playing it though I was told that you get more options once you get a character up to lvl 10. not sure if that is still the case or not. DO use those body sliders, omg, I think i'm too used to CoH in that reguard

With the graphics, just turning off the comic outlines and ramping the detail up to max made it very nice to look at, something my machine actually struggled with on CoH.

The power choices do seem limiting, but I haven't looked at doing free form or anything like that yet.

Travel powers are quite varied, they at least got teleport right, and during flight characters banked while turning (something we only saw on the issue 7 test server)

I will never never ever ever, like the blocking mechanic!!!
Gahh that is annoying. I created a behemoth just so I wouldn't have to put up with it as much.

Teaming is a little light, but I enjoy duo'ing with the misses. she helps keep my behemoth in check and she loves that her 'healer' also puts out a lot of damage

I understand how some people say the animations are off. I think they are a touch, my character using a leap (which is like statesmans flying punch where you zoom towards your target, fist first) but in melee range, caused the weirdest animation i've ever seen, it reminded me of one of the moves from the Double Dragon game. Oh, and Jumping on a female character.. wtf O.o its like, oh look at me, im a dainty little flower!! (I keep the travel power on continuously just to get rid of that )

I guess, think of it as CoH's younger sibling. its going to be an obnoxious but parts of it will aspire to be like its elder. It still needs time to mature.
  16. Saved and uploaded to my own server for personal use (unless told otherwise) . One I tend to wonder about actually, is Guild Wars, with GW2 now steaming ahead, whats going to happen to GW1? you don't pay a sub for either game, and I bet they aren't making that much of GW1 anymore.
  17. I knew NC wouldn't budge on CoH, no matter what we did. They've done it before, and they'll do it again (im looking at you GW1 gamers). Of course we can't forget what they did to Richard Garret and Tabula Rasa, forging his signature, making him lose millions just to dump a game they didn't want. Heck, you could probably offer NC 50 mil, and they wouldn't take it. CoH, Tabula, Exteel, Auto Assault... NC does indeed hold the title of 'Destroyer of Worlds' .

Look, I will admit next to the next person that CoH was showing its age, for the past month I have been choking this area's bandwidth downloading other MMO's to try out, and some of them are simply beauitful, next to the grey lackluster zones like Kings Row, though I would consider Praetoria up to par, but making the rest of the game look like that would be a huge effort.
But where it counted, CoH was solid, on NO other game have I found teaming as easy to follow as on CoH.

Having said that, there is no excuse for what they did and how they did it. Put me in the boat of not giving NC another cent of my money, I'm sure if I get involved in ANY other game like CoH, it'll just be taken away again.

Now, TonyV... about those private servers...
  18. I see my tanks in a few of those pictures

Of course I'll be at this one coming up, wouldn't miss it
  19. Yeah the end game is a bit... missing. However, I am enjoying upgrading my ship. I was lucky enough to have logged in during the 2nd anniversary event and scored myself an Odyessy cruiser to use at 50. While each ship you get comes with standard compliment (think SO's), there are a bunch of different weapons and systems you can add on or replace(think set IO's). I currently have 6 borg antiproton beam arrays and the 3 peices of the Aegis system, with consoles I have put my shields up to 12,000 hp, and I am still going.
  20. Well, I bought STO when it first came out, but since then i've only played it sporatically, however, for the past 12 months, i've been playing it quite a bit. Since STO and CO use the same engine, and with COH's future uncertain, I decided to install CO. While the game needs...help, it is quite fun. I have already joined the CoX channel via STO. Now, I already have a fleet in STO but a SG for CO would be my next step

    I am @kangaroo120y in STO/CO

i have also installed DCUO, while I find it quite beautiful to look at, I have found the costume creator limiting, though I think in the grand scheme of things, its still a baby, even CO has had more time to mature.
  21. Just joined the chat channel. Although I'm already in a fleet on STO, its great to be able to chat with fellow CoH players, also being able to chat in CO as well is a plus, but 2 character slots ? Ergh!
  22. Was a fun run. My tanker, Radical Raptor, my first ever tanker, and the first one to have an actual entire story writen about him (some 20 odd pages). Its still fun to stretch him out and give him a good workout with some mobs to dice through. Much fun War, looking forward to next week
  23. Commodore had awesome machines. there is still a website out there someone hosts on his commodore 64. Im sure there are a few amiga hosted sites as well. Great company, nothing came close to them.

I Agree. I prefer the space missions, Often doing quite a few starbase 24 raids
