Looking at the last financials, it has brought in about 1/2 the *revenue* of CoX so far this year.

However, it has made more than CoX in its lifespan.

Also, due to how they have GW2 set up, you could well be seeing more GW1 sales from people who down own it, to unlock stuff in your hall of monuments in GW2.

How long will GW1 stay up for? Who knows, but I believe it would take the total failure of GW2 AND GW1 before GW1 goes down (or at least another 12 months ish)

Sums it up perfectly.

EA look like they have an Eastern Counterpart...

Well, look at Lineage when its successor arrived on the scene. While Lineage is still running in Korea, they closed the US Lineage servers in 2011. I see no reason why they shouldn't follow exactly the same path with GW.

Except I imagine GW won't be given the same run out time that Lineage had in the US. From what I've seen, for a year or so now NCSoft has been getting more and more erratic (yes, even more than before!), and the recent acquisition of 15% of their stock by rival Nexon (becoming their largest shareholder) has made them twitchier still.

It's like paranoia is becoming a disease at NCSoft HQ, so whenever there's the smallest noise from shareholders thinking of selling, they whip out the +2 Axe of Trust Us, We're Looking To The Future, See? and hack frantically at any overseas company asset over a year old.

If you have GW toons, I'd suggest saying your goodbyes now while you still have the chance.

Well, one thing I noted right away was that while Lineage 2 and Aion both moved to a new payment login system online, CoH as well as Guild Wars 1 did not.

Things aren't lookin' too hot for GW1 right about now.

Well, to be fair, Guild Wars *didn't* have subscriptions to start off with, so it would make little (if any) sense to transfer them over to that scheme.

Also, Lineage 2 and Aion are "NCsoft" titles (as in, developed by NCsoft) whilst Guild Wars and City Of heroes were not.

The 2nd point is probably the most important part overall.

All I can say is as long as City of Heroes is dead, NCSoft is on my "do not buy anything from them" list no matter how great a product they are involved with looks.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

They're on that list for me as well as the "actively discourage others from purchasing NCSoft products" list.

Well played, sir!

It's a real shame: I actually thought Wildstar looked pretty good, and was planning on checking it out. Oh well!

I don't believe that's his work. It's just an image link from a webcomic site.

If only we could just make ncsoft REALLY suffer.

We. Can.

It's easy.

Step 1) Do not EVER buy ANYTHING remotely associated with them.

Step 2) Advise *anyone* you hear about buying from them understand who they're dealing with.

Step 3) Make it loudly and widely known what NCSoft is good for: bad business practices and even worse customer loyalty, in that there's no endgame, no decent sunsetting, no warning to the poor Devs, just... Poof. And worse, they will *horde* the IP and store it away rather than sell it or give it away as a good will gesture.

---

I understand that last is a business decision to protect the possibles, but honestly. If they're not going to make a CoH2 with Paragon Studios, then what the HELL is the point? So they give it up, and it flourishes... If they sell it, the get money, and they're done. If they don't, but the give it up as PD or just... not pursue C&Ds, they get money because people think well of them, and won't mind buyin' from them.

Bad enough they're shutting it down, but simply put, hoarding the IP means that this person here will NEVER TOUCH another NCSoft *anything*. Period.

And this person here hasn't knowingly bought or supported anything to do with Sony, MSI motherboards, or AMD/ATI for quite a long time, and will continue to do so, for very similar reasons: They suck. For me, anyway, and I just simply will not buy them. There are other companies, but these three are my big targets of "Bags of Nope". (I will say that MSI video cards were really good stuff, so it's just the Mobos. 10 of 10 going bad out of an order of 10 boxes you had to warranty will make you go that way. Can't be doin' that in a small business.)

I know I shouldn't be all mean and such for the very now-dim possibility that Co* could still get transferred to better ownership, but I simply don't care now. NCSoft, in the words of Bender, can bite my shiny metal butt. If I had one. Which I don't. Beside the point, the meaning is the key.

---

That being said, all efforts to continue the transfer of Co* are to be kept up, and loudly. They are cowering, now is the time to strike harder. And with a little more vinegar than before.

They will cave, or they will die. It's their choice now to make something happen, because *they can*. They **CHOOSE** to be jerks about this now, with that stupid letter.

IF it comes to pass that Co* escapes from the grubby mitts of NCSoft's, and they allowed it to happen... then maybe, just maybe, we can call off the dogs of "Don't Buy NCSoft. Ever."

I probably need to stop now. Sorry. Got me riled, this whole thing...

Mike

August 31, 2012. A Day that will Live in Infamy. Or Information. Possibly Influence. Well, Inf, anyway. Thank you, Paragon Studios, for what you did, and the enjoyment and camaraderie you brought.

No. Never apologize, never surrender. You are quite correct. HIT NCSOFT IN THE WALLET. THAT IS WHERE IT HURTS MOST.

It's what matters the most to them too. I'm right on board with you. I could care less if NCSoft is the company that figures out how to "jack in" to the internet....I'm not going to purchase from them. EVER.

I think worse case scenario for them is that they completely uproot and leave the American/EU market. The sad part is I doubt they will miss it since it only make up about maybe 1% of their player base. They can open up a new game in China and make up for the loss.

But you are right about what we can do.

Not buy another product from them, spread the word and stuff, but it wont have that much of an effect on NCSoft as a whole. I doubt they are even cowering or let alone losing a bit of sleep right now. We are not that big of a threat, maybe what 20,000-40,000 strong now compared to the millions of players they do still have in their other markets. We are not their only customers. Probably more like a side project more than anything.

Yesterday I went on mmorpg.com to look at what other games I might be interested in and found one, then I clicked on the game to find out more about it and saw NCSoft was the publisher... guess who won't be playing that game...

Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

Don't hate, because I know I'm not really adding to the topic here, but Captain-Electric, you're using the "You must be new here" meme wrong.

Sorry, I just don't think they should be abused.
