I forgot the name for this trope… but the villain had the entire thing perfectly planned to the minute! Absolutely everything he did was perfectly choreographed! From being captured, being taken to MI5, this moron geek plugging the computer into the network at an exact time [insert list of ridiculous things]....

Now to the final thing I hated about the movie: the entire villain’s plot. His entire goal, apparently, was to kill M. That was all he wanted.
Those three things. When I left the theater, those were the three things that stood out the most to me. I have to agree, it was not a great Bond movie. I thought Quantum of Solace was better. BETTER!!

Did he seriously use 2 ethernet connections? I didn't notice that. If so, I think that should be turned into a new meme. DOUBLE ETHERNET CORDS!! WHAT DOES IT MEAN!?

The extremely over-planned escape was just too much for me to suspend belief for. And I readily suspended it when Bond used a crane to catch up with the villain on the train! Really... Bond had to be just the right distance behind him for his train-bomb trap to work. Not to mention, the timing of the train itself! Can you imagine what the planning looked like?

"Let's see... the 2:15 train should be coming through this section of the escape route. Looks like if I time it right, I'll have just enough time to say something witty... OOOH! I know, I'll mention something about radio! Oh god, what if the agent I get to catch me mentions something about using radio before hand? The irony would be delicious!! THIS PLAN CAN'T FAIL!"

All this power at the villains hands, and the best he can come up with is revenge killing? He's obviously a mastermind of epic proportions and the furthest he can take it is killing one person. Isn't a more sadistic, and more evil revenge to make the person you hate live in their own personal hell? Cause MI6 to close, rob M of all her achievements and THEN kill her. Or make her live on in misery. The problem is, I couldn't see this villain having a goal once M was dead. For all his foresight, he lacked any true vision.

And now that the A-Team comparison has been made, I'm going to add that to the list. It hadn't occurred to me before, but now that makes complete sense to me.

I'll admit, the movie did provide some entertainment. The intro scene was top notch. And the action was at least fun, if not easy to buy. Still, I would recommend renting it to anyone who hasn't seen it. It's not worth matinee.

I'd like to submit my Dark/Ice/Earth Tank into the mix. Yes, she has a few offensive powers, but seriously, playing solo is a joke for her!

"Oh," you might say, "but she has melee attack, Rylas."

To which I would reply, "Yeah, LOLIce Melee!*"

The thing is, though, that she's basically a Contranker... a Tanktroller... a Contankeroller?

She's perfect for team situations. Fear, stun, slow, immobilize, knockdown. She's got it all! Despite the aggro cap being 17, she's able to crowd control beyond that. Sure, she's not taking direct damage from more than the cap, but she can go beyond that to rescue players from outside aggro. Drop an Ice Patch here, a Quicksand there, and handle the main group with melee mez toggles.

Just don't ask her to kill anything on a time scale shorter than geological.

*I'm not implying Ice Melee CAN'T do damage, but my build does nothing to help it's lower damage numbers.
  3. Don't hate, because I know I'm not really adding to the topic here, but Captain-Electric, you're using the "You must be new here" meme wrong.

Sorry, I just don't think they should be abused.

I'm not sure, but it sounds like you're implying PA's integrity is compromised. So if GW2 is paying for ad space, PA won't say anything negative about it or NCSoft.

This seems to be completely negated by a comic they did just last week.

Why bother eating food? I'm just going to die eventually anyway, so why bother trying to hold that off?

Oh yeah, because I enjoy living. And since I also enjoy playing CoH, I'm happy to try to keep that going as long as possible.

But maybe I should be asking why you bother posting here? Or could you not resist one last troll thread before the game went away? Even though you "left the game for good."
  7. It's a shame you have to move on, Zwill, but thanks for everything you've done for us. Do make sure you drop by the Titan Network to tell us where you end up. Any game you're building a community for is a game I'm willing to check out.

This. Real money refunds will make me consider my own stance on not buying NCSoft again. Of course, they'll have to come out with games I want to play. Like Comic Book themed MMOs....

    oh....

So, just for clarification, if I bought a 12 month subscription back in February or 2012, I will see a refund for the months of Dec., Jan. and Feb.?

What if my credit card information has changed since the purchase was made?

If anything, that would further prove my point. You make a thread title that would make people think the thread is going to inform them that the forums have an earlier shut down date. Of course there going to come in here to see what's up. Let's not use misleading titles in hopes of charging up people's emotions. There's been plenty of that already.

Because the concerns you're posting about aren't going to be addressed if the forums shut down. That doesn't mean they can't shut them down before hand, but there's really no telling what they're going to do considering the lack of communication we've had up to this point.

Now, why would someone choose to title their thread in such a way as to imply that the forums will indeed be shut down before the 30th? This isn't really the best time to use sensationalism to get people to ready your thread.
  12. *reads OP*

    M'hmm. M'hmm. Yes, yes.

    Ok, I'll take 2.
  13. I wonder how changing the sub fees from $14.95 a month to $19.95 a month would affect things.

Loyal fans seem pretty much determined to keep subbing and a 5 dollar hike isn't so much that it would chase off many (I'm speaking as one of those fans). Then again, maybe it might. Keep in mind though, in the years that have passed since the game launched, going up that high would actually keep pace with inflation.

It is odd that the knee-jerk reaction was just to shutter things up. If someone has a commodity that sells but isn't making enough profit after overhead costs are accounted for, then they up the price of the product. The gaming industry seems to have the mentality that it's best to just stop selling. It's a strange beast, but I can understand the rationale behind the decision. Personally, I'd try charging a little more on sub-fees before calling it a day.

Of course, this seems to fly against things I've stated before in regards to micro transactions. I've found NCSofts prices for the paragon market to be a little too high. But I think you have to work with buyer mentality. If I want to buy the small things, I want small prices. If they feel like they cost too much, I'll just save my points and buy less often (therefore buying points less often). But if all the small things cost less, I'm actually more likely to buy them up more. And then I'm buying up more points to get more of the small things.

It's like when advertisement tells you you can save more with the more you buy. It's a lie, but people love good deals and so they spend their money anyway.

But I'm no economist, so take that as you will.

Again, two different things being discussed in what you've quoted.

Trying to sway others into boycotting a company in hopes of getting a game saved or in hopes of ruining their finances is one thing. Saying you no longer want to do business with a company on a personal level because you find their lack of business ethics a turn off is another.

antagonising NCsoft". Before that it was a bad thing. Got it.

Funny thing is in that thread when they were discussing SW: TOR you never mentioned that you were boycotting EA.

Well, in either case, welcome to the Revolution.
I think there's a difference in saying you can't force NCSoft to continue the game and saying that ending service mid-payment arrangement requires a refund.

Except there's a giant difference and the two don't compare at all.

The PS proc is covered under the EULA. It's an item that is SUBJECT TO CHANGE. As anything in the game itself always is. If they couldn't change items in-game, they'd risk having a potentially broken item permanently part of the game and unbalancing game-play forever. When they changed the way the proc worked, they didn't take the actual proc itself away. You still have what you paid for. If they had deleted the proc from the game, then you could claim fraud.

Now, when you talk about taking away the game itself, when you allowed people to buy time to play it ahead of time, you are actually TAKING AWAY THE PRODUCT. A transaction was made in good faith and is now being dishonored.

    Big difference.

For now, I can't do anything but advise you to wait until NCsoft has communicated that information.

FWIW, I'm very sorry that they haven't communicated this information and have passed along your frustrations.
Zwill, I wish I could buy you a beer. Standing in to mitigate some of the discontent we're feeling on this issue when you're not even being paid for it deserves at least that. Thanks for passing along the concerns. For the time being, I'm willing to take your non-official response.
  22. So, another reason I won't feel comfortable doing business with NCSoft. Not only will I not be refunded for time being taken away, but I'll also have points withheld from me that have already been purchased as well.

NCSoft, you could have come out of this looking much better if you'd have practiced some customer service.

  24. Hmm... it's like choosing a favorite child...

I guess the sidekick system ranks pretty high there. I almost always played with my group of friends. Being able to bring any toon to any mission without worry was nice. We got spoiled to that. I stop to think back about how the sidekick system used to work, and shudder when I think about how problematic that could be at times. And THAT was better than most games have already!

I'm also going to miss the SG and Base features. When we started playing, my friends and I all formed an SG together. Being the one to care about such things, I did a lot of base building. I organized the base to flow really well for teleporters and to our personal storage rooms. Everyone got a table for their enhancements. Then our resources got to be pretty big, and we all split off faction SGs for each person. Soon our base was used just for coalition teleporters and we all had bases for lots of storage. We even fed each others prestige with influence boosts to help each other out.

    I'll miss that.
  25. Ha! Thanks to Arcana starting the thread for Figure Printing, I already had some demo's started for some of my characters. I'll grab those files over the weekend and post them here.

Now, does anyone have a good tutorial for editing demos? I've already figured out how to replace emotes in them...
