So what do people think of the Rep Meter?
Oh is that what the Rep System is? I think I saw I can turn that off, so I'll be doing that.
by the way Ultimus, when I hover over that little dot under your post count it says you are an unknown quantity
Hm. Turning it off doesn't sound like a bad idea. Though I am curious as to how it's supposed to display high rep in that little square. Does it change colors or what?
The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.
Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?
A: You crash into another one.
To quote half of all Star Wars characters:
"I have a bad feeling about this..."
This surely will bring doom to us all.
Terrible idea, I've never seen this bring anything but flames to a message board.
"The Hamidon is a what what of what?" - Brian the mission guy.
i just want a custom title of my post count ever gets obscenely high, or i qualify for a custom title for some other reason. Bastardo! would be a title i would enjoy.
The rep meter? Eh, not overwhelmed.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
Something I found interesting is that if you click on your OWN post to "add rep", it tells you HOW much rep you've earned exactly.
Doesn't tell you how many are positive and how many negative though.
They'll probably disable it soon enough, as they did with the stars.
COH/CoV - Virtue
8 Ball - Lev 50 Kin/Energy Defender
The Canadian Fist - Lev 50 Ice/EM Blaster
Omega Ghost - Lev 50 Robo/Dark MM
Ghostfall - Lev 50 Arachnos Crab Soldier
Now we can rep each other just like we used to have the Star system on the old board. (Back before they removed the ability to star people) -- I think it was Statesman that changed it cause he got a massive one star rating? Regardless, its back again. I had thought they stopped it cause of "Star me" threads.

I'll be turning mine off, and I sincerely hope the admins disable it altogether. The quality of a poster should be measured by what they post, no by little red or green dots that can be added or taken away with one click for any reason whatsoever.
Positron: "There are no bugs [in City of Heroes], just varying degrees of features."
z0mg rep me! I'll be turning it off as soon as I can find it.

I like it. I'm on other forums that have the rep system and it's not a big deal.
Eh. I'll probably be ignoring it for the most part, much like I did thread ratings on the old board.
Turning off Reputation:
1. Go to the top of the page, click "USER CP".
2. Find "Edit Options" in the left sidebar, under "Settings & Options".
3. Deselect the box "Show your reputation level"
4. Scroll down to the bottom, click "Save Changes" button.

I think they had the rep system when the forums first came out with stars. Then they took away the ability to rate users and just rate threads instead.
I don't like the idea of a rep system though, just causes problems.

Oh PLEASE disable the rep counter. The only forums I've seen that leave the rep counter on have been the absolute dregs of the internet. You really do not want to bring on the endless jockeying for rep that this will bring, no matter how useless it actually is.

One of the very first things I disabled. I was rather surprised to see it, given how the old "stars" were removed.
