  1. When Water Blast was released on the market last week, I was very surprised that the costume pieces that would go with thematically were not also released. Of course, I am speaking of the piranha and aquatic based costume pieces that were released last year for Haloween.

Is there any chance that these items can be re-released on the market before this Halloween to coincide with the Water Blast powers? I missed the opportunity last Halloween and have been wanting the items ever since. I'd love to get the chance!

    Post your UI!

Mine is very basic and I hardly change it at all. I still always even have Brawl in slot 1 of tray 1, and sprint in slot 2 of tray 1. (Then attacks in first tray with slots 9 and 0 as travels [Hover/Fly, CJ/SJ, SJ/SS, etc.) I sometimes add a combat attributes window if I'm on a melee character.

@Memphis_Bill, what is power 6 in slot 6?
  4. I both want to see and never want to see a character named Peew Peew of golden waters.
  5. Its a different taste thing, for sure. I wanted to love Beam/Time, I just got too flustered trying to find a balance with both. I enjoy my Beam/Kin more, although it can just as intensive sometimes (especially in the earlier levels).

The mechanics to the new powersets can be great fun, they just often require you to do a balancing act with your other powerset and figure out what you can manage.

The mentality isn't neccesarily "I just want to sit back" but as the newer power sets have more and more focus-requiring mechanics, being too clicky could be a bad thing. Take a Beam Rifle/Time Manipulation Corruptor, for instance.

Beam Rifle's big schtick is Disintegration, so you're using Disintegrate whenever its up and then your single-target powers to spread Disintegration, usually ending the chain with your AOEs once it has been spread.

Meanwhile, you're also using your Time powers which can also be clicky - especially if you go the route of Power Boost + perma-Farsight = godly defense buff, which normally involves perma-Hasten and perma-Chrono Shift that you all want to click back up as soon as they drop. Then also factor in that there is weapon redraw each time you switch from Time to Beam.

It gets complicated and frustrating! In the case of Water Blast, you don't want too intensive of a secondary that you'd be too busy using that to effectively build Tidal Power.

It can be a bit clicky. But I'll say it hasn't really disrupted Tidal Forces build up. They stack for enough time where you can build 3 stacks of Tidal Power, launch a debuff, and release a power with full Tidal. Worst comes to worse, you'll drop down to 2 Tidal power a quick use of T1 or T2 Blast builds you back up to 3.
  8. You've played Poison before as an MM and only realizing its disadvantages now?

I dunno, I'm loving my Water/Poison and think the synergy is just fine. Yes, the AoE range is narrow but very potent on your target. Yes, the heal is an ally-heal not a self-heal. Those are the disadvantages, now go enjoy the set! There's nice synergy with Water Blast in that Poison is full of AOE debuffs and -res to all types while Water Blast is full of AOE attacks and a good variety of typage (smashing, cold, fire) - not to mention their easy aesthetic liquid or water resemblance.
  9. I play a Plant/Poison Controller and I love the character often times because the fun of Poison rather than Plant.

The biggest disappointment about Poison is that the AoE is a very small radius for some of the powers, but luckily they are on super fast recharges (even without bonuses) so you can spread the debuffs quickly.

While the rez and the mez protection can be skipped, both of them take damage resistance set IOs, so they make great 1-slot placeholders for those procs such as Steadfast Protection's +3% def or KB protection!

I don't think Poison Trap sucks, although I use it as on my Controller for additional hold-stackng. If you don't plan on getting that close and personal, maybe you can skip it - but it does make a decent placeholder for slotting a Basilisk's Gaze for 7.5% more recharge. You can also slot it for damage, but you probably won't need that on a Corruptor.

I slotted Venomous Gasses with 4 Dark Watchers, focusing on -tohit and -endredux for 5% recharge.

I have thinking of creating a Water/Poison myself - Water has a diverse damage typing (smashing, fire, and cold) and AoE, while Poison has a great amount of AoE -resistance to all.

Also, for Incarnate abilities I recommend Intuition Radial Paragon as your Alpha. This alpha increases Defense Debuff, To Hit Debuff, Slow Debuff, Range and Damage. With this, I believe by stacking Envenom, Weaken and Venomous Gasses I was able to get defense debuffs to about -60 and tohit to -45 or so (been a bit since I looked at the numbers - they were high!). Also it increases your damage, which is always great!

  11. What is your dream future issue update? Not just everything under the sun you would like to see - but list of things you think would be practical to include in one issue. What are you most holding out for? What would be practically included in an issue to make you think its the best issue ever?

    My personal list:

    - Power Pool Customization: At the very least, I'd love the option to turn off the FX for Hasten and Super Speed, but the ability to recolor them would also be awesome!
    - Empathy Powerset Update: In my opinion, this powerset has become really outdated. Its largest appeal used to be its health and endurance bar management with some nice defense, but Time Manipulation can out-heal it, give team-wide defense instead of single-target, in addition to several other team-wide buffs and enemy debuffs. Clear Mind is still a single-ally power that needs to be passed out to the entire team one by one with a short duration (meanwhile powers like Increase Density hit the whole team). Lastly, in the current state of the game, heals aren't quite as needed in the end-game especially with Destiny Incarnate abilities buffing you in leagues. - My wish for the set would to see Clear Mind be team-wide, and to implement the talked about upcoming Absorption feature into its heals (Healing Aura, Heal Other and Absorb Pain) and Fortitude.
    - New Power Sets: Water Blast and Psionic Melee, please!
    - New Targeted AoE IO Set: Of all the damage sets, I think this category has the least amount of sets that I'd actually find useful, and almost always go with Positron's Blast. Another non-PvP/Purple/ATO set of this category would be nice to encourage more build variety!

What would be in your ideal issue?
  12. Ever since the introduction of patrol xp, I haven't minded dying at all unless I'm on a Tank or completely out of a way to rez without hosping out of mission. And even then its only mildly frustrating.
  13. I have several of these.

One of my favorite characters - Sara Thunderbird, my Elec/Elec Scrapper - is this. I played her till about Level 16 or so at first, and she was fun to play, sure, but pretty endurance heavy at that level. Then a few months later there was a Synapse TF and I dusted her off since I figured with the energy resistance to Clocks, she'd be useful (and she was). Got her to like 20ish.

Then there was 2XXP weekend last year or so and I madrushed her to 50 in that, and she's one of my best characters now, hands-down.

This has happened with a lot of my characters really (my Spines/SR, my Son/Son, DB/Nin, MA/Regen, WP/SS, and more) - I stop playing them for something new and shiny, then forget how much I love playing them.

The only one I can never bring myself to really enjoy anymore is my Emp/Archery Defender - and that's just because I absolutely hate both power sets now, and I'd delete her if she wasn't Level 48. Empathy feels outdated compared to all other support sets I feel since its buffs are all single target with longer recharges than newer sets (that give nice buffs for shorter recharges and maybe even for the full team) and its heal powers feel obsolete in the later levels. Meanwhile Archery on a Defender is just piss-poor damage.
  14. With the Hybrid slot powers details coming public, what do you think will be the abilities for the later slots (Genesis, Mind, Vitae, and Omega?).

    Here are my predictions:

Genesis: Just as Hybrid had to deal with Archetypes, Genesis will deal loosely with your character's origin. Now, Lore/Destiny/Hybrid all in a sense have to deal with teams/buffs/support in a sense (Lore grants pets/teammates that can buff or attack, Destiny gives support to you and leaguemates as a click, Hybrid gives self or team boosts as a toggle) and those are all on one side of the tree. Meanwhile Interface and Judgement deal with attacks (Interface gives secondary effects to attacks, Judgment is an attack) which leads me to think Genesis may be some kind of attack that is based on the Origins, but that would not be confined to what Origin you initially chose. I believe these will be single-target attacks to mirror Judgment's AoE attacks.

Vitae: I believe the Vitae will boost your character's "vitals" or base stats. For instance, there may be a 'HP' tree where Core may boost Max HP and Radial may boost Regen - permanently, unlike Destiny. Or there may be an Endurance tree that might increase Max Endurance/Recovery or give you a slight Endurance Discount. There might be an offensive tree that increases base damage, or increases base accuracy.

Mind: I believe the Mind tree will grant various crowd control powers with high magnitude. Perhaps one side of the tree is single target with really high magnitude/duration, while the other side is AOE with a good magnitude/duration.

Omega: I think this may be a second Alpha slot, basically, maybe even with same/similar Alpha powers but with different components to create them (perhaps requiring all rares/VRs instead of commons and uncommons). Also granting a +1 level shift at 3rd and 4th tiers, so you can be Level 50+2 always or Level 50+4 when in Incarnate zones/trials.

These are my predictions - what are your predictions?

When I read "Martial Arts for Blasters" all I could imagine was people tearing off their own legs and throwing their legs at their enemies.

Then I figured this would mean shurikens and such, not limb dismemberment.

One powerset I'd really love to see is another armor powerset. We haven't had one since Shields in Issue 13, I believe.

I think a "Toxic Armor" set would be neat, one that more debuffs your enemies while giving yourself some resistances. I sort of see it as a set like Fire Aura (i.e., DoT aura, a few shields, self-heal) but all the powers carry some PBAOE debuff like -tohit (as a sort of defense) or -dam (as a sort of resistance) and slow, -rech, etc debuffs on top of some light to moderate actual defenses and resistances. (Except maybe good ranged defense built in, since this otherwise just effects melee toons.)

The S/L defense is way above softcap at 54.4%, but I'm only Level 12 with this guy now and I'm already playing at an x3 setting. I imagine by 50 and Incarnate, I'd be playing at +4/x8 if I can.

I tried to plug some psi res into the build, but there isn't very much.

I went Cardiac for Alpha and went for really high recovery with stamina, superior conditioning, and physical perfection since I really don't want to ever have to worry about endurance on this guy. Nothing to break the flow of building fury and combo points.

    Thoughts?

    Yes. Yes it is.
  18. I am extremely disappointed overall with how long they've been sitting on Staff Fighting and then release stupid things like this that weren't even entertaining as April Fool's jokes.
  19. Depending on what the final numbers for Fade turn out to be in Mids, I might drop Scorpion Shield and grab Soul Mastery for Soul Drain.

Soul Drain + Soul Absorption just sounds so ungodly good.
  20. I was playing around with an Illusion/Dark Controller in Mids and holy hell! The opportunity there.

You have three powers that boost the team's defense:
    - Group Invisibility (2 minute duration)
    - Shadow Fall (toggle)
    - Fade (1 minute duration)

    You also have three pets:
    - Phantom Army
    - Phantasm
    - Dark Servant

Now, Fade's power has been changed a bit since the last Mids update, so I can't make an accurate build now since the defense numbers are going to be a lot lower than this...but in a test build I made I was able to get all defense stats to 41.1% with just Group Invis, Shadow Fall and Fade. With a Steadfast Prot in Tough and Weave on, those numbers were at 51% as my personal defense.
Then stacked with Scorpion Shield, I was at 71% S/L.

And I didn't otherwise really slot for defense in bonuses. I went for recharge to try getting Phantom Army, Fade, Hasten, and Soul Absorption up as often as possible. Got the recharges to 68s for PA (with 60s duration), 118s for Hasten (120s duration), 31s for Soul Absorption (30s duration), 50s for Fade (should be 1 min duration - but I think the recharge time was increased, so this number may not be accurate either). But that it is all without any Incarnate alpha power that gives more recharge - it is 113.8% global recharge or 183.8% recharge with perma-Hasten.

I think this set combo has the potential to be seriously kick-***. It is heavily dependent on recharge in terms of what you would want to slot for, but its potential can be incredible, I think.

Any thoughts? Has anyone tried this combo out?

    i22 Beta

I haven't had any issues on beta that have to do with being a Mac-user, I believe. The only issue I've had on beta is difficulty accessing the Paragon Market which seems to be a common problem for everyone.

Honestly, I really love nearly everything about the iTrials. The grind can get old if you're doing the same trials on the same character all the time, but its always fresh if you mix it up even just a little bit (different character, different trial, different players, or even just take a break from it for a bit).
  23. The one and only thing I dislike about the iTrials are that if you are not Level 50 or not an Incarante, it is nigh impossible to find an 8 person team (or sometimes any team at all). This varies from server to server, I'm sure - but on Champion I can spend an hour trying to form up a team or a task force with no luck.

Since the iTrials came out, I haven't seen any Hamidon raids, Kahn TFs, Statesman/Lord Recluse TFs, LGTFs, or mothership raids...the only task that gives alpha slot common components that I still see run are ITFs.

I love the Incarnate stuff, but I feel like it overshadows the older content.
  24. Yeah sounds like that's what I'll have to do. I need to get more self control with spending tokens on xp boosters and windfalls. @_@
  25. If I already have the Celestial Armor items/tier 9 items, do I need to use more tokens to get the fire and ice set? I don't think I have any tokens left sadly.
