the only thing I can add to your post is that I think in this instance, an M1 refers to a tank as in the M1 Abrams etc rather than a rifle.
Considering that it's on an M1 Statue that you find the Tank badge, I would imagine this to be true. Well, it used to be, anyway.
  2. On top of the CoH mention, this video did bring up some interesting points, and something I'm going to try to remind myself to think about as we move forward.

According to Google Translator: Too long, did not read

I do believe you are right. What I do know was back in the pre-CoV days, there was a group on Protector that called themselves "Team Debt Cap" (usually led by whoever targetted for Hami at the time). It was because of them that I remember that the cap at one point was 1.1 million at 50.
  5. Um...thanks Oz. It's actually been a while since I've even scrolled down to the servers list, and I only just today noticed that this thread was the last one posted in.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. As per my usual, I took this week off from work, and a good thing to, because I work outdoors, and it rained most of this week.

My actual birthday went pretty much without incident, but by and large I knew, thanks to NCSoft, that a 'happy' birthday wasn't even on the table. But in the end, it was a passable one.

Yeah, figured that would be the case, which ever the answer may have been.
  7. Here's a question for the number crunchers in this thread: It's been stated repeatedly that Paragon Studios had 80 people working for them. What's not clear to me is; were these 80 people all working on City of Heroes, or did that number include the folks that were working on the other projects?
  8. Badge was a good one for odd ideas. He was also all about getting a bunch of us to go over to other servers in large groups and in one theme. I think the first time was to have everyone doing /e newspaper, but it was different every time.

The reactions of the other servers varied, but the best one was Justice, who decided to try to do the same thing back to us.

So we held a Robot Rampage on their gathering.

Fun was had by all. (not kidding, either. There was a lot of comments much the same as your own about this idea.)
  9. Here's one I mentioned to a couple folks at Dragon*Con: The Robot Rampages of Protector.

It was something that one of our old timers named Badge came up with. There are two robotic Giant Monsters that can technically be summoned by player action. The Babbage ambush near the end of the Synapse TF, and the Kronos Titan near the end of Crimson's arc.

The idea is to use Super Group bases, Atlas Park, Ouroboros, logging out of the game, or any other method of delaying or redirecting an ambush to have several of both spawn at the same time, in the same place. Once we have a good batch of bad 'bots, we unleash every Player Character with a confuse power on the mass to get them to fight each other to the death. Variations would pop up over the years, as more summonable robots (I.E. the Vanguard HVAS) were added to the game.

But there is - to this day! - a bum sitting beside each old entrance and if you click on him he tells you something like "GO away! Trying to sleep here, Paragon Dance Party is closed!"
Even better? It is still in use as a random mission door. I ran a Scanner mission that had a squad of Tsoo doing...something (Scanner mission, so nothing memorable) there.
  11. I did get a chuckle out of "Bazooka Melee". It reminded me of how I would play the old style military FPS games, back before they decided that someone using a rocket launcher should only get two rounds of ammo.

  13. I have two that stand above all others for me.

First with my main and name sake back in Issue 3 or 4: It's really a simple thing, but the first time I ran the Eden trial, and we got through to the final cave and I was told to go grab 'a couple'. Well...'a couple' quickly turned into half the cave. It was the first time I really got a scope for how awesome this game could be. (and it has, all the way to the end for me)
    • A lesser moment was going up through the levels the first time largely on Task Forces, where I would join the team at the bare minimum for the TF, and still end up being the main tank.

The other one would be on Operative McGavin, my Arachnos Soldier before there were Arachnos Soldiers. I rolled him when Targeting Drone was first given that bonus damage when used with Sniper Rifle. I was always somewhat proud of the fact that the costume was close enough that some folks actually confused it for the Temp Power disguise from Faultline. But the real prize for that guy, was his ding to 50.

He was a Hero because he thought that Recluse's management of Arachnos was a betrayal of the ideology of the group, which is why he fought crime in their uniform. Of course, I had to have him get his final level on the STF, but not only did he ding off of Lord Recluse he was the one who got the kill shot.
  14. Huh. From the looks of it, my first impression of the original Guild Wars, which I got through watching someone else play, was highly erroneous.

To explain, the guy who was playing got to level cap on either the first day, or the day after. From then on he would play the PvP pick up groups for hours on end, and it always seemed like there was nothing more to the game than 'run from the nerf bat' as he would continue to make characters (all starting at the level cap because of his first) and he would always be looking for less a Flavor of the Month as much as a Flavor of the Week, with an eye always two 'builds' ahead for when the nerf bat fell on whatever he was playing at the time.

All this to ask, is PvP as central to the game(s) as it appears, or was this guy just on a fringe?
  15. Crud. Guess I should have searched first. I guess what got to me was the fact that I just found out through this that folks can invite me to what ever they want, and I'm now a member without me saying if I actually wanted to join. (and yes, I realize I can just drop pages, but for now I'd like to see which one, if any, becomes the 'official' page.)

As far as internet reviewers go, he's more informative than entertaining, though he does try to get elements of that in as well. He's not angry in all of his videos, but when he is, he does not hold back. He really doesn't like when Corporate greed gets in the way of game play quality and innovation.

...come to think of it, he'd probably be nice and loud if he did a video on our own situation.

EDIT: Hrm. This reminds me that I haven't seen much from him lately. He's been a member of a collection of reviewers that call them selves 'Blistered Thumbs' under the 'Channel Awesome'...channel. I'm going to have to see if he's still with them.
  17. Hey, the way I look at it, I made the suggestion. Hell, I could be wrong and the scattered shotgun approach may actually work better than the tactical strike. I just wanted to point out that it seemed a little less organized than it could be.
  18. Guys, I appreciate the enthusiasm everyone is showing to try to salvage this game. However, in at least one aspect we could use a little less enthusiasm, and a little more organization, and that is the facebook pages. Yes, pages, plural.

I don't have a lot of you on my friends list, but I've already seen personally the creation of at least four different pages related to the end of this game. The folks that have created the various pages may want to talk to each other and decide which ONE page to keep, and invite everyone to, so all efforts are more centralized.
  19. I would like to add in that I was able to get three characters salvaged, and then the program would crash on start up. Cleared the three salvaged characters to a flash drive, and downloaded a fresh copy, still crashes.

    Save Sally!

It was. Back when Sally was first put in the game. As a response, the devs put out a fluff 'news' article about how the Red Caps are attempting to control Sally, and attacking her 'breaks the spell' or some such.

Minor fix here, " 'arresting' street thugs with a rusty chainsaw".

Oh! Gone to the end of time to give Ramiel that crystal to bring back and unlock her own Incarnate status. But no, time travel never crossed her mind. What is this I don't even... Why not just add an extra option which says "Yes, it has crossed my mind, but what are you talking about, exactly?" and have Echo explain it? It stops our characters from making continuity-breaking statements.
The way I look at it, you only just found out about this brand new thread at the very tail end of SSA2.1. The first mission of SSA2.2 you are just about to start trying to look for it, when an invaded Longbow base distracts you with generic hero duty. In the middle of that invasion, Dr Echo asks about time travel. If we work with the idea that the chapters are sequential, then your character hasn't had ANY time to think about where to find this item in the here and now, much less put any thought to finding it 'somewhere' in the mists of time.

To be fair, he doesn't usually yell like that in his reviews. In fact the only time I can remember that he got that loud was the death of Lian Harper.
