Post your favorite memories of accomplishments, events, groups, task forces, whatever that you have done with friends, SG's, teams, or even solo for the past 8 years in COH/COV.

I will start by posting Hami raids and STF with Renaissance de la Veritas SG on Champions!

Here's one I mentioned to a couple folks at Dragon*Con: The Robot Rampages of Protector.

It was something that one of our old timers named Badge came up with. There are two robotic Giant Monsters that can technically be summoned by player action. The Babbage ambush near the end of the Synapse TF, and the Kronos Titan near the end of Crimson's arc.

The idea is to use Super Group bases, Atlas Park, Ouroboros, logging out of the game, or any other method of delaying or redirecting an ambush to have several of both spawn at the same time, in the same place. Once we have a good batch of bad 'bots, we unleash every Player Character with a confuse power on the mass to get them to fight each other to the death. Variations would pop up over the years, as more summonable robots (I.E. the Vanguard HVAS) were added to the game.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

LOL that is awesome!

Badge was a good one for odd ideas. He was also all about getting a bunch of us to go over to other servers in large groups and in one theme. I think the first time was to have everyone doing /e newspaper, but it was different every time.

The reactions of the other servers varied, but the best one was Justice, who decided to try to do the same thing back to us.

So we held a Robot Rampage on their gathering.

Fun was had by all. (not kidding, either. There was a lot of comments much the same as your own about this idea.)

My favorite memory... Pinning it down to just one...

Joining the All-Star Sentinels RP SG. Closest group of RPers I have ever met.

I remember this. Fun was indeed had.

My favorite was herding a full map to a designated trip mine field set by my buddy. No aggro or aoe caps for the win.

My SG on an Eden Trial. Two of the members (I was on a dark/dark defender) were on a Fire/Shield Scrapper and an Electric/Fire Scrapper.

When we hit the final room with the massive mobs of Devouring Earth, I could barely move I was laughing so hard. Kyria would charge in with Shield Charge as Xarthax used Lightning Rod.

Massive amounts of exploding DE was just totally, pancakingly hilarious.

Now I want to do that One More Time and Demorecord it then place it to Yakitty Sacks.

Way back the day when trip mine was awesome..like late 2005. In the northwest part of Brickstown there is a warehouse with Freakshow that I would grind for xp. There is a fence near the street with a tree by the fence. I was on my fire/device blaster. I told my friend to watch this. I put 5 trip mines in the tree. Pulled a Freak tank from the otherside and jumped the fence. He jumped on the fence and then jumped in the tree. BOOM. Havent laughed that hard in a long time. Might have to try that again before close.

My parents, my daughter and I all made completely identical radiation/gravity controllers years ago on Virtue. Their names were all Emerald Image. (Image actually means identical copy.) The way lowercase Ls and uppercase Is work for in-game names is that they look identical (except in I.D.s) even when they aren't. So we all appeared to have the name Emerald Image over our heads.

And our looks were all identical, even our skin tones, faces, costumes, magic background and powersets, lol.

In a game where two heroes never looked remotely the same, man, people used to freak when they'd see us all fighting together! And when they'd circle us and ask how we did it, we'd say in unison,

"Somebody's had one too many drinks at Pocket D!" and stuff like that. :P

But boy was it confusing when we teamed them all! Hey, did I just cast that immob or did you? Whose pet just ran off? And it was bloody hard to kill anything with a troller in those days, and gravity pets weren't too hot besides. We finally quit playing them in the 30s because of it all, but it was fun while it lasted.

We also did it on Pinnacle with four broadsword/regen scrappers. They were all named Blade of Glory-- except for my Dad, who at that point made one "virtually similar" in the same costume, except that she was eldery and overweight where ours were all young and trim. And he called his Oldest Blade. And he refused to use sprint, so he would lag behind us everywhere we went, huffing and puffing, rofl.

We also briefly had a supergroup on Pinnacle where each of our characters was named after a credit card. My daughter was American Express, I was Visa, my Mom was Mastercard, and my Dad was Discover Card. The battle cry we'd yell altogether was,

"Charge!"

and our Supergroup name was....Chapter 11. :P

Ah, those were the days.

Shadow, that was a fun read. I LOL'd at Oldest Blade's... challenges. That's awesome your family played together like that.

Oh, there's quite a few memories... Hm.

I simply don't have the ability to go with just one. I can't. Top three then:

1) The first few weeks of CoH. The wonder, the excitement, the figuring it out... all that newness. I still remember it, and it makes me smile.

2) Nuclear Tigress on Pinnacle winning 1M Inf. Back in the day, that was some *cash* for a Level 8. I was just so proud of her...

3) Brawling Humiliator. Either you know why or you don't. Go. Search. Find info.

I'm going to go with four.

(1) The first time I flew, in beta. It was in Steel Canyon, and I think I spent hours just flying around the big buildings

(2) The first time I entered Boomtown. This was before train station missions were added, so had never experienced a ruined area. DAMN. There was a war fought here.

(3) The nine minute hami raid - this was before incarnate powers. Everyone participating on virtue got shivans, Warburg nukes, vanguard mechs, etc. We cleared the mitos once, and then took Hami to zero

(4) The first time completing the Statesman's Task Force. Just after intro, rumors that the devs had never managed to beat it. But we won!

(5) OK, one more. First time running the Hess TF in Striga. New to everyone. Looking through the windows in the early missions. "Do we get to fight that?" And at the end, Burkhalter was done, defeated at the top of his metal monstrosity - what do you mean self-destruct? Where is the exit?

To be honest there are so many that I couldn't nail down the best...

But one of the most memorable was the "follow circle" around the dome of City Hall in Atlas Park.

Everyone lines up in a circle, targets the player in front of them, and on command from the guy running the event, everyone hits follow.

The most start-stop circle I've ever seen, but we proved it could work.

I remember flying my Rad/Rad Defender through Kings Row, I must have been at least level 16, since I was flying and just took Mutation.

I was flying West to East toward the tram and I notice a fallen hero in the little grassy area just West of the tram so I decided to swoop in and Rez them.

Blam-Blam-Blam-Blam-Blam - face plant right next to him.

Seems that a high level team was cutting through Kings Row and was ambushed by Malta and they didn't clean up the gun turret sitting in the tall grass.

Soon a number of heroes ended up face planted around us as the call went out for someone of reasonable level to come and dispatch the damn turret. A crowd of low level characters formed a ring just outside of gun range while a few low level scrappers/tankers with support from the defenders/controllers and blasters sniping from out on the ring tried to take it out themselves, and failed.

Eventually a 40+ level player came and quickly dispatched it but the fact this turned into an unofficial zone event, before we had zone events, with the number of heroes that showed up to try to help is a memory I will always remember. Really wished I took a screen shot of that.

But I have so many wonderful memories of this game, happy and sad and WHAT-IN-HELL-WAS-I-THINKING memories.

I have quite a few best moments, and I may write a few of them later, but the first one I'll share is hitting my 1000 death on my main. For those who play on the Pinn server, you know that I've earned my nickname as 'team vengebait'.

Thanks to everyone that helped make me a welcomed part of the community, and for giving me over 3 years of some of the best gaming I've been able to take part in. May the next game bring many friendships and maybe reconnect to some old CoH friends.

Learning that a blaster wasnt a tank. Then learning that tanks and brutes fit me like a glove.

Another favorite if not the favorite, the time that the ability to cancel certain buffs, like SB, or visiting nul the gull to get rid of the speed porton feature came out. I think it was win win for everyone. Kins didnt have to worry about buffing people that didnt want the buff and the people that didnt want the buff didnt have to worry about people forcing them to take it, whether they was teaming or solo. I wished at the time that you only could buff team mates, but that wouldnt have solved all the problems and it may hinder buffing in some cases. The way it was done, I loved it. I dont think it would have been done any better way that is a win-win for everyone, besides purposeful buff griefers who found out it was no fun if they can no longer control the movement speed of unwilling players. Before it was annoying now it's like "Yeah go ahead and driveby buff. I wont move any faster. .

One of my favorite memories was the first time my DB/elec brute went up against Malta. Elec armor was my first real experience with a resistance set, up until then I preferred defense, especially SR.

Now, to an SR scrapper, even one who isn't IOed to the gills and min/maxed to hell and back, Sappers are no big thing. While everyone else on the team is freaking out, you're just thinking, "What's with the blue energy beam stuff that keeps missing me?"

So here I am, fighting Malta with my DB/elec brute for the very first time. Things are going smoothly so far, and then I see the Sapper in the next spawn. My first instinct is to brush him off, but then I remember that I'm running resistance, not defense. I paused, considered the ramifications of the situation, and resigned myself to burning through some CaBs to potentially stave off death, assuming Conserve Power did nothing to help mitigate the problems caused by the endurance I was sure to lose (this was not long after /elec was first released).

I steel myself, target the Sapper first, and jump in. Sure enough, first thing he hits me with is his Sapper Overload attack. I keep attacking, but spare a glance at my endurance bar and find that... Holy crap, it's still full! And then it hits me: Static Shield has end drain resistance. I never really tested it before, so I didn't know how good the end drain resistance was. But apparently it's good enough to let me take a full on hit from a Sapper and shrug it off like a Gorn taking a punch from Kirk.

And then I smiled an evil little smile, and laughed an evil little laugh.

Goodbye, I guess.

I don't know about favorite, as there were a LOT (my first 50 took *500* hours).

But back in the old days of herding werewolves into dumpsters (yeah, I know...) ... before Fulcrum Shift was nerfed (again and again)...

... dumpster diving on a kin/dark defender while the tank had all the critters, fulcrum shifting, and nuking. Werewolves fall down go boom.

THAT was fun.

Scrappers. Scrapperlock. Brutes. SMASH. Defenders (and oh, the board fights about what a defender was supposed to do!).

All-defender teams.

All-traps teams! I wish I'd gotten my trapster to 50.

I remember the robot invasion on Justice, and how we decided to invade back with mimes.

I remember Virtue accepting the challenge of downing dropships during a Rikti weekend and in one day we downed...what, 35? D_R would know, she was recording it.

Those two are the first ones off the top of my head, but there are a lot of good memories from this game.
