  1. Well I moved back to World of Warcraft and just doing a small guild and playing all my characters. Figured if anyone is moving back to that game and wants to keep in touch can join my guild.

Its on the Illidan server Horde side. My character name is Ultimus.

So even with the efforts of the Titan Network, and the artists formerly known as Paragon Studios, there's still at least a 38% chance City of Heroes will be no more in a few months. And the burning question is: where should we go from here.

Lets face it: there are other MMOs out there, but none really offer enough of the riveting online gaming experience we've come to need, or else I'm pretty certain most of us would be playing it now. Especially after NCSoft released that thing they called a store. But still, we have something unique here: a game that appeals to our sensibilities, our interests, our lack of hand-eye coordination, our need to feel like we've outsmarted an explosive barrel. And you can't get that anywhere else but here.

What we need is for someone to pick up the baton and make a new game that addresses the needs of our community. And unfortunately I don't have a development team handy at the moment, some jerk seems to have fired them all. But what I do have are ideas. I'm not just a player of City of Heroes, I'm not just an egomaniac forum poster for City of Heroes, I'm also a student of City of Heroes. I've spent over eight years pointing out everything the devs have ever done wrong, not just in developing this game but also in terms of haircuts and parallel parking skills, and I believe I'm fully qualified to know just what a game needs to do to pander to the City of Heroes connoisseur.

With that, here are my top MMO ideas certain to be wildly successful with attracting literally tens of hundreds of City of Heroes players:

    The game: Cannonball Run Online
    • The concept: players race from point A to point B, and then to point C. And occasionally beat up biker gangs.
    • What we keep: global chat, fast travel, customization
    • What we lose: all other superpowers, except possibly Martial Arts
    • What we add: vehicles
    • Why it would be like City of Heroes: characters would be scattered all over North America, making the game look empty. Players would spend most of their time on global CB radio chat complaining about how expensive superchargers were in the CRO store.
    • The Downside: If Paragon Studios managed to reform to develop this property, Matt Miller would have to advertise the game as Captain Chaos.
    • Why I would play this: to see Matt Miller forced to advertise the game as Captain Chaos.

    The game: HEROES Online
    • The concept: superheroes in a real, if really dumb world.
    • What we keep: all our ridiculous powers
    • What we lose: all our ridiculous costumes
    • What we add: even more ridiculous powers
    • Why it would be like City of Heroes: the HEROES IP is the only comic book related property that has a worse sense of powers balance than City of Heroes, so we'd feel right at home.
    • The Downside: devs only tool for dealing with exploits would be rebooting the servers and rolling back six months.
    • Why I would play this: Everything is ultimately a Nemesis plot

    The game: Transmetropolitan Online
    • The concept: seriously, read the book
    • What we keep: costume creator, insanity
    • What we lose: Boring architecture, common sense
    • What we add: double the drug budget for the writing staff, triple for the VFX staff
    • Why it would be like City of Heroes: force everyone to play on Virtue and make the tutorial dump you into Pocket D, and you'd be halfway there already.
    • The Downside: downside?
    • Why I would play this: pre-order bonus power: the Chair Leg of Truth

    The game: Paragon Studios Online
    • The concept: players control game developers working in an MMO studio
    • What we keep: sense of superiority
    • What we lose: excuses
    • What we add: hats, vending machines, cubicles
    • Why it would be like City of Heroes: we'd just be cutting to the chase.
    • The Downside: cosmic justice dictates the actual devs would control NPC MMO players in the game
    • Why I would play this: I'd subscribe just to watch the devs get their revenge. Also, I've been beta testing this for eight and a half years already.

    Comments, suggestions, counter-proposals welcome.
You are saying there is a 62% chance that COH will survive?

    At least not in CoH.
It was a valiant effort though.

(Maybe they'll make CoH 2 and it'll be in there. )

    /bow
Who knows maybe in another game one of the Developers will do something to it? And the NPC that instructs it is named "Ultimus"

Could take possible legal action so it could go beyond being fired.

I'll miss all of you, and miss this game.
Thats a cool story! Even in your picture you look like my character Wesker that is basically an army vet too.

Well I figured it would be a big reveal. Its cool seeing faces so far, with various people I have various images in my mind of how they speak or how they look.

Its not really how we look but that we all shared the passion for this game which brings us together. I think thats cool. Maybe one day I will run into someone and be like you played COH too?!?!

Hey guys, I'm Rob. It's been fun.

Very cool, always neat to see the player behind the mask.
  10. My name is AJ Meleleu.

While I am a super hero in the game world, in the real world I am an actor and model. I've done runway for Reebok at international conventions, modeled on TV, and been in fashion shows. I've starred in commercials and even been in a few movies.

Perhaps one day I will get to be a super hero in a major film like Avengers, if that day comes I will be sure to do some kind of tribute to City of Heroes.

Maybe one day I will make it big but I will always be a gamer at heart

Feel free to add me on Facebook or Twitter.

So I had to take a hike today and I took this picture of how I feel my character would be gazing off in the sunset as the door on COH closes. I encourage others to post who they are or some pictures.

  11. Not every story has the good guys winning, I guess these Battalion were so powerful it wipes out the entire planet and consumes our Well causing perma-death to our characters and the world ceases to exist.
  12. WHAT?!?!? I can't believe this is shutting down, even Everquest 1 is still running. I have waited years to fight the Coming Storm and now I will never get to.

    Man I feel betrayed here.
  13. Can you please do some Wisp Aura codes too?

  15. Has anything been mentioned about the token system? Currently you can buy Super Packs 1 with tokens, will SP2 be added in addition or replaced? Or is this an I24 feature? (I know it isn't like that currently on Issue 24)

Reason being too I have literally 25 tokens unspent
  16. Like is it planned before I24 goes live? Or when I24 goes live? etc?
  17. Note there is one other big difference between the two sides:

Core side has a 15 min recharge, 5 min duration on pets.

Radial has a 10 min recharge, 5 min duration on the intangible pet, and 3 mins on the other.

Wow that is funny! So who actually owns these sounds? Are they free to use?

Isn't that the exact same phrase, person saying it, etc that the police drones do? The "Code 5 106 north whatever"

I was trying to find the clip to compare it side by side by I think its the same thing.

Is that a common sound file or something?
  20. Forgot about vigilance hmm good point.
  21. Thinking about making this pairing as I have an interesting concept. It could fit either class. How much damage would the defender do compared to the Corruptor? I know the defender gets much bigger -Res including the sonic which has an additional 5%.

    Any suggestions?

To be honest I don't think they had the technology for that which they do now. Prior to Calvin Scott, we never had contacts that were phone only and no physical contact. (Unless you count the newspaper)

After we got Calvin Scott we suddenly saw an influx of these type of contacts. (Penelope Yin Praetorian, Mother Mayhem, Dominatrix, Dream Doctor, etc)

All it is is strictly flavor and gives different dialogue. If you don't contact them you don't get the different dialogue. Not much of a loss. Does not alter the souvenir or anything.

Edit: For instance, after beating Vanessa Devoure if you spoke with Calvin Scott prior when she is crippled (And you can talk to her) you can select one of the options as "I'm in the resistance its ok!" -- No impact at all or referenced later.

Tweak it so you don't have to. Calvin Scott TF had the same thing where one mission you had to talk to Malaise?
