So what do people think of the Rep Meter?

I don't see any way to subtract rep, only add it. As long as there's no way to "grief" someone, I don't really care.

I'm somewhat active on another board that uses the reputation system and as far as I could tell, it does absolutely nothing.

After you click on the scale, you choose whether it's for good or bad, and can add a comment.

I've disabled it, too, but that doesn't stop people from giving you rep.

I don't really see the point of it - but as it can only be used to "vote up" posters, it can't really be used in a negative way, so it's probably harmless, I think.

Doesn't tell you how many are positive and how many negative though.

Apparently if you go to one of the posts where you've been given reputation points and click on the 'add rep' button it will display the comments people have given you as well as show you if the overall opinion was positive or negative.

It's still not a X were positive and X were negative thing, but it's something.

I'm actually surprised that we still have post counts displayed, after all the assurances from all corners that it was one thing that would not carry over.

On the other vBulletin board with reputation points I'm used to, it's been the source of many a Drama, but nowadays people seem to just take it in stride. Possibly we're all tired of complaining about it, so we find other things to complain about.

I can understand on juvenile forums, but I see no reason to disable them on ours.

I should have mentioned: assurances from unofficial corners. Looking back, I don't remember any such announcements from the mods, but the players who did mention the post counts going away were fairly reputable, so I kind of assumed it was true.

It wouldn't have affected me either way, so I didn't bother to double-check.
