Why do the devs hate COV?

Just wondering. Seems alot of attention villains need, just is a no go. COH gets alot more attention. This goes for pve and pvp. Will 2008 actually bring some attention?

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

CoH has a bigger population, who whine more, and whine louder than the CoV community. They hold forum population majority. CoV was made specifically to generate more econ to pump into CoH. The devs can save both time and funds simply by creating co-content that short-changes CoV but is specifically, for some reason, beneficial and useful to players of CoH. Any and all one-sided villain content is eventually transferred to CoH and given a buff. Content that was originally hero-side, will, with some reluctance, will be given to CoV. However, said content will be thouroughly re-worked, and it will be stated said content will be 'more powerful' than its hero counterpart, and it will turn out to be craptastic in comparison. Villain issues will be backburnered in favor of hero issues. There will never be any more villain-side only content, but expect more hero-side only content in the near future.

The Devs do not give a [censored] about CoV in the short run. They only care about it as long as it brings in money so they can fuel blue-side, which in turn, means they have to make a few mediocure attempts at improving the red-side content. They do so slowly, reluctantly, and poorly.

That turned into a rant. All of the above is OPINION, only SOME of it is necessarily fact.

Nope. The Devs hate CoV, that's why they created it and programmed it with better zones and graphics - just to tease people.

Sorry.

PS...<sigh> this thread again...

I had no idea that the devs hated COV. They release pretty much as much stuff for COV as they did for COH this year. I think the only extra COH got was the revamped faultine.

Just to see how many people they can piss off. Pissing people off is awfully good money and it warms their cold, black little hearts thinking of the hate and discontent they generate on a continuous basis.

Behest of the Forum Illuminati. Issue 7 was just to get your hopes up, making the inevitable dashing of them that much more painful.

Is it working? Have we shattered your will to live yet?

In order to make CoV better in 2008, it will gain some much-needed buffs that CoH currently has.
First off, missions within a story arc will be scattered across at least three zones at a minimum, and access to the contact's cell phone will not occur until far later in the contact's relationship.
Happy now?

Also it's because all parents secretly hate one of their children. Bad luck to you if you were an only child.

Don't forget that at level 40+ you'll have to start in Grandville, run to Mercy Island, then port Oaks, then sharkhead then to Nerva all to do one mission, then run back to Grandville to turn it in.

Further to add parity to COV all contacts will now require 5 missions from you before giving you their cell phone number.

SILENCE, FOOL! Everyone knows that all red-side players do is whine! People playing only CoH never whine, they post insightful commentary meant to stir the soul, like "LOL n00b, lrn to manipulate the market by buying low, selling high. LOL @ CoV in general, none of your stuff costs 25 million INF, YOU LOSE" or perhaps "LOL and die" - and other such uplifting statements.

Now you know, and I better not see you making this mistake again! Blue-side players do not whine, remember this!

They devs don't have CoV. Brutes have Electric Melee. Obviously the devs love CoV. They hate CoH.

Here's a bright point, though: previously, the problem has largely been one of limited man power: they just didn't have the resources to do things they WANTED to do.

NC^2 is in the middle of a major hiring spree. IOW, the manpower resources available to "do things" is going to experience a dramatic upswing.

That says to me, starting in i13 and onward, we may see more parity of content in new issues ... maybe even a slight lean towards CoV (say, 55/45) for a while, so that both sides eventually come to a true 50/50 split between issues.
