Why do the devs hate COV?
Think I need to clarify what I mean by merge. I do NOT mean for villains/heroes to share the same contacts, or for every zone to be co-op, really all I mean is cohabitating in zones, and merging the market, and perhaps cross over TF, and shareing of the ATs. What I DO mean is adding new contacts and missions for the red/blue zones in the isles and paragon. Not too hard to imagine with all of the crime in Paragon there being a evil contact to give you missions in that zone, and the same goes for the isles, all the long bow there some one has something for a hero to do.
I was under the impression that they did not want us sharing inspirations for some reason, as for the team search I never noticed, and these would not matter in what I mean by merged.
As for baby new year, I think the reason you save him is because if you dont there will not be a new year
at all. But you may have a villain that wants to destroy the universe. I cant speak for anyone else, but I dont blame you for wanting more stuff for the faction you like to play.

The devs should have kept them as separate games, with separate fees, and separate player bases. We'd all have been better off.

Or maybe we'd be having a post-mortem discussion right now.

So you're saying that any sub-groups should just quit now because if you're not mainstream your money isn't good at NCNC or NCSoft? Now you see why I'm shopping for a new game and will close my 2 accounts.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sub-groups should realistically expect that they're not going to receive full Dev attention during times when resources are short. I thought that would be obvious, but I guess not. Another shocker: $15, $30, $60 a month doesn't give you a spot on the Dev team.

Dude, if you really believed that spiel about it being content anyone can enjoy then you shouldn't care if villains got a few free issues for themselves. Please explain how hero content is content "everyone" can enjoy, if they prefer to play villains. If villain content can't be enjoyed by hero players, the same holds true the other way around.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh yes I believe it... shared content is content anyone, no matter what side they prefer, can experience. Hero or villain, you can raid Hamidon, raid the Rikti ship, or go on time-travelling nazi-pounding adventures. I was on a Rikti ship raid in the RWZ just a couple days ago. There were tons of villains there, right alongside heroes. I didn't hear a single comment about someone having their villain liscence revoked. No complaints about "this doesn't feel villainous enough!" If you, personally, don't like the RWZ for your villains, then wait the next update which does have something you like. Or quit. Or whatever you feel like doing. Your call.
Oh, and having thought about it, I personally wouldn't want to see any more one-side-only updates. I've played through nearly all of CoV's content, but I did the same to CoH's content before that. Of course some has been added since, but it doesn't take me long to go through all the new stuff too. Both games need to be kept fresh; CoV just needs some extra attention to fix the areas where it has always lacked.
On the subject of "seperate game":
The solicitations I looked up said that CoV was billed as a "standalone sequel." Yes, it stands alone as its own game, in a technical sense, but the reality is that it's one-half of the whole "City of" game.
The evidence:
-CoV and CoH currently share 6 zones between them.
-Both games exist on the same set of servers. I can send a tell from my villain and talk to my friend on his hero on the same server.
-The games use the same engine.
-There are a number of badges from CoH that villains could get at launch of CoV. Some of CoV's badges have also trickled over to CoH.
-At launch, CoV had access to all of CoH's pre-existing costume pieces, save for a couple like the Croatoa witch hat.
Any further debate over the meaning of "standalone sequel" is really just semantics. We know what was said, but we also can see the practical implication of CoV and CoH sharing the same game world. And it proves that CoV is not an "independent game."

but CoV needs more content.

I don't think I've heard anyone here disagreeing with that. What we're disagreeing over here is what to do about it.
Some people apparently think the thing to do is complain about how shafted villain side is, and point fingers of blame at the Dev team. I disagree strongly with that approach. I'd rather take a realistic view of the situation, realize that with the NCSoft merger they're going to finally have more resources to work with, so now's the time to make sure they know what we want to improve CoV.
See my new forum avatar? That's the one I used way back on the CoV beta boards. Just my little way of saying "I'm a villain too." I want to see CoV get what it needs. You can piss and moan and quit your account, go right ahead, that's your prerogative. I, personally, don't see how that attitude will ever help CoV.
Well, as long as my Mastermind only has access to 14 zones, no matter what level I get to... and however many Strike Forces... there is a discrepancy. Attach whatever label you want to it, just because it starts with "City Of" doesn't make things at all equal.
If you are stating "just log on with your hero if you want more content," it is indeed a different game.
*Pats you on the head and hands you a goody bag*
The party has been over for a while now, but thanks for showing up, Timmy.
Looks like you've got some catching up to do. I address everything you covered, more than once now, and I still stand behind it.
As for you assertion that CoV would be a dead game by now, that's speculation. I can speculate too: Maybe if it had never had direct ties to CoH the devs could have made it really evil instead of pseudo-evil and it would have brought in more customers than CoH.
Resources have been short for 20 months?! The horror!
You sir, can suck it.

How nice of you to go and show us all your true colors, NancY. Green, to be expected of a forum troll.
Have fun quitting. I'll toast with a few more nails to put in this thread's coffin.
It certainly seems like some people (not many but at least 1) would rather pout about CoV's problems than constructively post to get them fixed.
total kick to the gut

What does is [censored] matter if it's one game or two? I hate to point this out, but that is a rhetorical question.
Seriously, I think this thread needs a new direction or it should be locked. Nothing constructive is being posted anymore.
Here is what I would like to see added to CoV in order or importance.
1. Fix the Tech in the RSF and re-balance the SF
2. Villain Epic AT
3. Server Stability and Lag Reduction
4. New Story Arcs (all levels really)
5. New TFs
There. Get to work.

Putting my money where my mouth is, so to speak.
A new thread with a fresh start. Let's discard all the animosity and bickering. This thread's bound to be gone sooner or later anyway.
Thanks! Only I'll be here through August which is when my sub runs out. Even if I don't play I'd like to be able to make my voice heard since I already paid for the privilege.
Isn't it trolling a troll to make a post like that? The irony, it hurts.
