Hmmm... does it really count as archaeology if you can leave the evidence yourself?

Eh, well, I don't hold it against the devs for not catering to OCD players.

Now that you've got a 50, what are you going to do next?

Did we get teleported? We're in "City Life - CoH & CoV General Discussions" now?

This is hardly a general discussion.

How nice of you to go and show us all your true colors, NancY. Green, to be expected of a forum troll.

Have fun quitting. I'll toast with a few more nails to put in this thread's coffin.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
The devs should have kept them as separate games, with separate fees, and separate player bases. We'd all have been better off.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Or maybe we'd be having a post-mortem discussion right now.

    [ QUOTE ]
So you're saying that any sub-groups should just quit now because if you're not mainstream your money isn't good at NCNC or NCSoft? Now you see why I'm shopping for a new game and will close my 2 accounts.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sub-groups should realistically expect that they're not going to receive full Dev attention during times when resources are short. I thought that would be obvious, but I guess not. Another shocker: $15, $30, $60 a month doesn't give you a spot on the Dev team.

    [ QUOTE ]
Dude, if you really believed that spiel about it being content anyone can enjoy then you shouldn't care if villains got a few free issues for themselves. Please explain how hero content is content "everyone" can enjoy, if they prefer to play villains. If villain content can't be enjoyed by hero players, the same holds true the other way around.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oh yes I believe it... shared content is content anyone, no matter what side they prefer, can experience. Hero or villain, you can raid Hamidon, raid the Rikti ship, or go on time-travelling nazi-pounding adventures. I was on a Rikti ship raid in the RWZ just a couple days ago. There were tons of villains there, right alongside heroes. I didn't hear a single comment about someone having their villain liscence revoked. No complaints about "this doesn't feel villainous enough!" If you, personally, don't like the RWZ for your villains, then wait the next update which does have something you like. Or quit. Or whatever you feel like doing. Your call.

Oh, and having thought about it, I personally wouldn't want to see any more one-side-only updates. I've played through nearly all of CoV's content, but I did the same to CoH's content before that. Of course some has been added since, but it doesn't take me long to go through all the new stuff too. Both games need to be kept fresh; CoV just needs some extra attention to fix the areas where it has always lacked.

On the subject of "seperate game":

The solicitations I looked up said that CoV was billed as a "standalone sequel." Yes, it stands alone as its own game, in a technical sense, but the reality is that it's one-half of the whole "City of" game.

    The evidence:
-CoV and CoH currently share 6 zones between them.
-Both games exist on the same set of servers. I can send a tell from my villain and talk to my friend on his hero on the same server.
-The games use the same engine.
-There are a number of badges from CoH that villains could get at launch of CoV. Some of CoV's badges have also trickled over to CoH.
-At launch, CoV had access to all of CoH's pre-existing costume pieces, save for a couple like the Croatoa witch hat.

Any further debate over the meaning of "standalone sequel" is really just semantics. We know what was said, but we also can see the practical implication of CoV and CoH sharing the same game world. And it proves that CoV is not an "independent game."

    [ QUOTE ]
    but CoV needs more content.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't think I've heard anyone here disagreeing with that. What we're disagreeing over here is what to do about it.

Some people apparently think the thing to do is complain about how shafted villain side is, and point fingers of blame at the Dev team. I disagree strongly with that approach. I'd rather take a realistic view of the situation, realize that with the NCSoft merger they're going to finally have more resources to work with, so now's the time to make sure they know what we want to improve CoV.

See my new forum avatar? That's the one I used way back on the CoV beta boards. Just my little way of saying "I'm a villain too." I want to see CoV get what it needs. You can piss and moan and quit your account, go right ahead, that's your prerogative. I, personally, don't see how that attitude will ever help CoV.
  20. So we're spiraling downwards into flames again. Great. Nothing I can't handle; I came from the Friggin' Taser School of Forum Warfare and I've learned from watching the best.

Now when you say "Attention," what you mean is "the attention we didn't get in issues 9, 10, and 11." Because if it's shared with the other half of the game ("Nuuuu! It's a whole different game!") then it's obviously no good, because it's not addressing the content gap. New stuff, fun stuff, it doesn't matter if it doesn't help villains play keep up with the Joneses. Nevermind the lack of resources blah blah NCSoft merger blah blah repeating myself.

I think the reason that villain players are still clinging so desperately to the notion that their "standalone sequel" is an "independent game" (in spite of what the lead developer for the entire game has already said) is that they want to be able to add the word "righteous" in front of their indignation. They don't want to face the reality that their group of hardcore villain-only players is one of many sub-groups among the playerbase, and that when it came time for the Devs to prioritize the content for their free expansions, that their wishes along with the wishes of other sub-groups were not as high priority as developing new content that everyone could enjoy, no matter what side they played on.

But no... these players are just dead-set on painting themselves as being ignored, neglected, patronized, lied to... in short... they want to see themselves as victims. Anyone who offers a rational explanation that goes against the victim mentality is clearly a blue-side brown-noser, a hypocrite, or ignorant of their own bias. It's a mentality they've fiercely defended... but it's transparent.

Blue-side... no, sorry, BOTH-side players have been getting wild accusations in this thread about secretly wanting CoV to just wither and die off already. Well, let me turn that around. I think villain-only players should just admit that they'd love it if they could close that content gap, even if it meant pissing off the greater majority of the playerbase to do so. Screw everyone else, they're just hypocrites anyway...
  21. Never mind that there have been numerous instances of bugs with CoV being fixed and other tweaks being made. Patron arcs first had to be fixed because badges weren't awarding. Then they had to be fixed because their respecs weren't awarding. Dominators got tweaked around I8 to make them even better than they had ever been.

And then there was the Arachnos Flier. Broken for the longest time, despite attempts to fix it, until it got fixed for good sometime between I9 and I10. Villain players used to hold it up as an example of how the Devs were neglecting CoV, that hero players could easily get Heat Seeker in the STF but villains couldn't get it. So then they finally figured out how to fix it... and everyone got the badge and promptly forgot all about the whole thing. Now it's the LRSF technician that people are holding up as the new example of the bug that should've gotten fixed... and when that one gets fixed, I'm sure everyone will quickly forget too, then move on to complaining about some other bug to come along.
  22. Well, when the topic starts off by accusing them of hating their own game right in the title of the thread, yeah, I'd think that would put them off replying...

    [ QUOTE ]
The City of Villains forum disappeared, it got rolled into "general discussions", under the category "for fun". We don't even have a real place TO voice our concerns.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This forum is supposed to be for both CoH and CoV. If that doesn't feel right, then "Suggestions and Ideas" would also be a good place to put it.
  23. I think my 3 big requests for CoV would be:

    1. More lower level zones (below 30), ideally coming with new content in them
    2. New content gives more opportunities to feel more like a classic super villain and less like a mercenary or lackey for Arachnos
    3. Do something about the patron power pools... buff them up and/or give villains access to non-patron ancillary power pools
