Mob running. This was the thing I hated the most. I really would have loved to play my Widow more, but the mobs running all over the place I always felt was really really stupid.

Since there is no social aggro in this game, it made no sense whatsoever. The runners went just past the next spawn, but they didn't care. So what was the point of running anyway? They eventually came back after all. Never understood the point of it. Annyoed me to no end.

Hence I couldn't play anything without a taunt aura for long.

They just said don't bring up PvPers, not the system itself. From the sounds of your list, though, you may as well just delete everything and add "City of Heroes" to it.

1. Cave Missions - especially with the pancake room.

2. MM sound effects - Demons and Wolf sound effects drive me nuts.

3. Spamming in LFG and Help Channels.

4. Orenbega missions

5. The new pay2win model - I'd prefer regular expansion packs for $30 vs being nickel and dimed for everything, and paying what would turn out to be 100s of dollars for a single expansion box.

Hi Guys,

got to give a shout for "Knives of Artimis" and their multi drops of Calthrops/Glue bombs! Arghhhhhhh just like the opening titles for Baywatch without the bountiful Pamela.

And having no way to watch/respond to chat when in the Enhancement screen.

Missed so many shouts for trials et cetera whilst pratting about with re-enhancing!

Mmmm not bad for 6 years of playing

Cheers

Just in case some of you don't realize this, they actually fixed stacking Caltrops from KoA.

I noticed it immediately, because I was insane enough to run the KoA-laden hero tip missions you get at 45+ on +2/x6 through +2/x8, depending on the character I was playing. We first got tip missions in I18, and I stopped running tips for Hero Merits when we got Empyrean Merits in iTrials, which was I20. So I believe this change was in I19.

Basically you would only be slowed by one patch, no matter how many the KoA put in play.

I haven't fought low-level Tsoo in a long time, but I don't think they ported the same change to the Tsoo. But then, I don't think every Tsoo was equipped with the Caltrops power the way the KoA were.

While I was never a fan of mob running, the point of them running to the next spawn was almost certainly to try and lead you into it. Think about what would happen if you were running an anchor toggle on a critter that did that. (As a frequent player of Rad Emission and Dark Miasma characters, I had to think about it a lot.)

But yeah, stuff ran way too much. I never stopped me from playing given ATs or powersets, but I didn't particularly like it.

The main thing I will not miss is the public channel dramas - fueled in part by people who somehow became mods.

Player X has been silenced by Player E. Player X has been unsilenced by Player E. Player X has been kicked from the channel by Player E.

It's all too silly.

I will also not miss people so desperately trying to recruit for activities that they continually spam their messages with "You know you wanna."

I will not miss blind invites from players I don't know.
I will not miss the zombie events.
(I will miss the Nemesis zone events.)

Task forces as they are now, just don't feel any different from regular contacts.
This was what that keep me returning to CoH since I hate outdoor missions because they were usually hunt missions (do x of y) be it either mobs, contacts or glowies. It will be what I miss when I am trying other games becuase there is almost no other game left with this feature.

Yeah, tey was one skittish set of mob. The most skittish I ever came across. And I would get the lead them to the next mob thing, maybe, if most of them didnt keep going across the map somewhere to to some random room and sometimes towards the map that is already cleared of mob.

Yea the anchor things was a tad annoying to see one gu run away and before ya know it, ya had half of the map of angry mob on ya case. Which for a tank or melee toon is usualy no probs but on a toon where it can take thre four hits for death from just a single orange conned LT, then it is near certain death.

And then the ones that especially trips me out, is the ones that run, inside missions before you even touch them. And some you punch them once and off they go, sometimes two at time.

Although I wished they did do something with those mob teleporters. They couldnt have thought of a better use for the mob to have teleport except to spam it constantly to random places around the map? I think having teleport toons with long sight, like the sight of Nemesis snipers, and teleport to you to attack, that would have been better than the teleport mob that spams teleport, rendering relatively non-dangerous, and more of a time waster trying to chase it down before it stuck in a wall somewhere in the defeat all mish.

That was not your argument, but it was Richard Garriot that convinced NCSoft to publish the game that was already in production with founding from someone Jack "Statesman" knew came though after selling some company or stock.

The same guy that got kicked in the nuts by NCSoft and who's game got also canceled (still have a collector's edition of that by my side.) Same way they canceled Auto Assault on me. Same way they are canceling this on me.

If there is one entity or person that we need to be grateful to, it's Richard Garriott, and the select few in NCSoft that kept defending the game from closure for years (this game has been under the axe for several years now.)

Look, if you want to stick with the company, great. I'm not insulting you for that. But stop going on every corner defending them with flawed logic and treating everyone that does not love NCSoft or GW2 as if they were retards or ignorant that are not greateful for having their game defecated over.

I said I wont miss NCSoft and left it there. You decide to drag it. Unless people insult you for sticking with NCSoft, start respecting their opinions.

I have 3 very good reasons to never miss NCSoft again, some here have up to 5.

And yes, I'm frigging angry. At one point I thought NCSoft had a fresh take on MMOs. They had a Sci-Fi twisted metal-like game, an alien invasion scifi MMO, a super hero MMO, a mech fighting MMO, a frigging Shaolin Soccer inspired mmo that never got to see the light of day... I didnt just trusted the company back then, I promoted them. They killed everything that I cared about from them, to refocus in their 100th fantasy game, only this one has twitchier fighting system. I was not just betrayed, I was backstabbed several times.

The NCSoft I would care for either was just a facade or simply died years ago.

So NO, I wont miss NCSoft.

I finally came up with something I *won't* miss. Because, honestly, everything else, I didn't mind or will actually miss. Well, ok, gold spammers, but I haven't seen one in literally months, if not years, now.

Besides them...

I will NOT miss having to wait 30 seconds to log out to switch characters. I hate that. Every time. I wish it wasn't a thing.

The only time I actually am ok with this delay is I'm logging out for reals, and want to see the channels after I've said 'bye!' to people, just in case I miss a retaliatory "Finally, he's leaving.". Or "Bye.", which is the majority of what people say, to be honest.

Indeed, I've always wondered what they were thinking, loading up low-level content with multiple-stacking to-hit debuffs. Low-level characters already have enough trouble hitting things. It's why I learned to make sure I got the "Meet Lady Jane" mission (in the first Midnighter arc, where you help her find the chest with the vial of Hero 1's blood) no later than level 12. At level 13 those spectrals would start showing up. More than once I found the whole damn cave full of them, which rendered the mission almost impossible because with six of those things on you, you literally cannot hit anything.

Hah! That struck me as something that wasn't thought through when they came up with Stalkers. "Let's see, why don't we make this one AT finish missions with both hands tied behind its back?" A stalker who can't Hide is at a huge disadvantage.

OTOH, I do like the fact that CoH escort missions have the hostage follow me, instead of the way most other games do it: you follow the idiot NPC on a pre-programmed, ridiculously-indirect route through a string of ambushes.

That never bothered me - I'm naturally OCD about doing full clears of maps

Quote:
* Using Aim and a sniper attack on a mob armed with a pistol 150ft away, missing...and the mob immediately fires back at you over 150ft with his 80ft range pistol - and hits you!
Related to this: The inconsistency regarding when mobs react to your ranged attack. The game "rolls" as soon as you hit the attack button. If you hit, the mob reacts when the attack hits them. But if you miss, the mob reacts the instant you hit the button (i.e. the instant the "roll" is made), immediately counterattacking and/or charging toward you while you're still stuck going through the entire attack animation.

Quote:
* Streakbreaker and the "to hit" mechanic. I need to explain my grievance on that a little more...
I actually got so irritated once by repeated misses on my main that for a few missions I actually noted down every hit/miss just to see if it tallied with the 95% cap mechanic. That means statistically 1 miss in 20 attacks, if your character's to hit is capped. Being at that cap also means every miss is immediately followed by an autohit from Streakbreaker.
I had a sequence once with 5 consecutive misses (alternating Miss and Streakbreaker for 10 attacks). I'll leave you to work out what the probability of that is, lol
And this leads to the one thing that I absolutely won't miss: MISSING ALL THE FREAKING TIME. I honestly believe that this was likely a big turnoff to new players. I saw a new player in Help chat one day semi-joking, "LOL, I'd be dangerous if I could hit anything!" The Accuracy/ToHit issue is something I've griped about since I started playing the game, and I love the game. I have no trouble seeing it being an immediate "no thank you" for somebody who's impatient or wishy-washy about the game.

If you're used to a game like WoW (as I was before picking up CoH), the fact that a mere +1 level advantage can make an enemy almost impossible to hit is incredibly frustrating. There is a huge psychological difference between "HIT, but for insignificant damage" and "WHIFF! WHIFF! WHIFF! WHIFF!" The former makes you say, "It's gonna be a challenge, but if I can stay alive I can take this guy down!". The latter makes you say, "!@#$% WTF? Why can't I even hit this guy? This sucks!" It's the same principle slot machines are based on - a machine with frequent, small payouts keep people playing longer than a machine with nothing but one big prize.

I ended up visiting a Hero Corps Analyst/Fateweaver on almost every character I rolled to set my mission difficulty to -1, because at +0 my missions were loaded with +1 mobs. I got tired of walking into missions and running into a string of +1 lieutenants that made me have to stop and rest after every spawn (or rather, after using Rest once, having to just stop and stand around for several minutes waiting for my HP and Endurance to recover). I'm a super-strong, invulnerable superhero. A street punk with a zipgun shouldn't be giving me this much trouble.

Oh yeah, one other thing I won't miss: Panicked civilians inside missions. I really really wished that civilians inside missions had the same AI as those out on the street: RUN AWAY FROM THE BAD GUYS! Instead, they run straight toward the villains, or run deeper into the map instead of heading for the exits. I've actually had melee characters die because they ended up with a logjam of civilians trapping them into a corner while ranged-attacking enemies stand across the room filling me full of holes.

My understanding of the reason for this is that it's intended to prevent people from using a deliberate logout to avoid defeat/death. At least that's the reason in WoW. "Sure, you can log out, but your character will stay behind for a bit." But WoW at least made an exception for logging out in a "safe" location, i.e. an inn or other "safe zone". It would be cool if the same applied in CoH, like logging out in a train station, a store, the University (basically, any Day Job location).
