Even if you nicked part of this from 'Prince of Thieves', you managed to bring tears to my eyes in a busy German airport, because it is also happens to be true! Well played, indeed!

And I agree, the Tabula Rasa community could not begin to compare with this one - no other can, really!

Devs and/or management peeps:

I got your back. I've signed all the petitions. I've attempted to contact investors (no luck so far). If I come into a huge sum of money I'll make NCSoft an offer they can't ignore for the IP and Paragon Studios, and Cryptic a similar offer for exclusive rights to the game engine.

On top of that, if you need any legs broken to facilitate the negotiations, Send me a PM and something will be arranged. (I'm actually not sure myself if I'm kidding about that)

Incidentally, is it just me, or is the prospect of tens of thousands of superpowered individuals gunning for you a daunting one?

I did? If so it was entirely unconscious I assure you! Maybe I was simply tapping from the same well. As you say - it's merely the truth. ^^;

That's pretty much the impression I got from it!
Thanks for sharing, I hope they'll manage to work something out!

Of course not. They'd be saying "Those fans got their story airtime on CNN. Maybe we should look at picking them up..."

Now, the public at large might think we're weird forever after, but we were (largely) comics and video game nerds beforehand. They thought that already. And now that I think about it, we are just one good PR stunt away from getting the aforementioned reporter--whose name escapse me--to produce a story about us.
Don't forget Felicia Day and the Guild's latest video "I'm the one that's cool". The culture has changed immensely in the past few years, and comics and video game nerds ARE a lot more mainstream than they were. Such a protest could grab a LOT of attention if done well, and as you said, in a situation like this any publicity is good publicity.

As others have said, just knowing that there's some attempt being made on the "inside" to keep the game going is enough for me. My cautious optimism is far more caution than optimism, but it's better than despair and anger.

I'm rooting for you guys, no matter what.

Nice to hear that something is going on there, but right now nothing happend so far. We can only dance when we are reading that we can celebrate christmas this year with the game, but to reach this goal we can't go into the sleeping mode right now.

This would surprise me when Paragon Studios goes indepentend with the game. I also think that no one from the big players will take over this game. Big companys wants big names for her games from Marvel or DC and the game is also too old for them. The best what we can hope is when someone from the smaller publishers is intressted and NC-Soft sell it because they want to do "something good" at the end and don't need it anyway on her "new way" they want to go...

Hear, hear! "Paragon Publishing" does have a ring to it.

This! That was actually part of the email I sent to Gabe Newell(who knows if he ever read any of them); I advised that many people would probably be willing to double the subscription fee, and floated the notion of a 20-30% price increase in the market.

Hey, I subscribed to FFXI for almost three years at $15/mo, and for literally a year of that, I logged in mayyybe twice a week. I will gladly pay $30 a month subscription if it will save the game. Hell, I'd consider it a bargain.

And the idea of crowdfunding? Works for me! I've got a bonus coming at work(in the range of several hundred $$), and I'd gladly sink it into this in lieu of putting it in the bank to earn 1% interest annually.

The major comparison I can make from ME3 and us(I saw no reason to quote the entire post), is how differently the community managers handled it. The devs have been all over the board here, Zwill most prominently. BioWare's CM, Chris Priestly...was an absolute ****ing jackass. I was there day one, and at one point when someone chided him for saying nothing of importance, he actually said "How would you like it if I didn't say anything?"

My jaw dropped. I couldn't believe someone in his position could get away with that, and there can be no greater contrast between that forum(along with the immediately-pre-ME3-release-rulechange-hey you can't make fun of the developers or we'll ban you from the forum and Origin announcement) and this one.

I've actually carried on a few Twit-conversations with Felicia, and I've been trying to get her attention about this, but in the wake of DragonCon, she's probably been flooded with messages. Anyone else in the halls of Geek Royalty we can manage to bring this to their attention; Gabe & Tycho from Penny Arcade, Scott from VGCats, Wil MF'in Wheaton, Rob from ToplessRobot, anybody. Send 'em an email, a Tweet, or a blog comment.

Sorry, I can't -not- get my hopes up. Sure, the realization is there that it might all come to nothing, but that's not the same as not having hope.

Going to quote, as best I can remember, a couple different sources here

"You have to believe in things that aren't real, how else can they BECOME?"

and

"Hope is a force of nature, don't let anyone tell you otherwise"

Just to remind everyone, this broadcast is at the same time and on the same day as the regular coffee talks - so we shouldn't read stuff into it.

Honestly, im just amazed at how far we've come in just a few days. The outcry and support we've seen these past few days really shows our strength as a community, and is something I can say I've never personally seen in this genre. I love this game and the people in it, lets keep everyone together!

If they get it up and going by Paragon independent or ncsoft they should do subscription only $10/month and $20/ month for VIP where they get a couple extra perks. and 10/month is small enough for people not to worry about it and more profit than free.

Also if paragon is looking to go independent they should post something, I guarantee they would get alot of support and I'm sure alot of investors from the community.

Hell, structure it like a credit union where the members (vip) own a part of the company. Then you'd easily get alot of vip members.

Not yet - that wouldn't be a sensible thing to do right now - we want NCSoft to be reasonable.
