uh yeah, that's exactly what I was talking about. They didn't mean for it to leak because they didn't intend it to go to live. the best we got was supposedly some of the mechanics were going to be rolled into a future powerset.

Well this sounds hopeful, that there are talks happening, what would be great through all this is if the devs could gain full ownership to the title so we never have to worry about this sort of thing again.

the shock of the news has worn off to me, but it's still in my heart. I know I'm not anyone important when it comes to CoH/CoV development but I was pleasantly surprised at the level of activism this event has triggered. I'm so used to dealing with cowards who shrivel-up into little mice when someone 'royally shoves one' on them. I was like "right on! a petition! saves me from starting a riot"

I wish I would have been able to express my full view of this situation in my signing of the petition but I was low on time on a library computer (am in midst of travels)

To tell the truth, back in the 80-90's I was one of those kids that Super nintendo and my game saves were something of extreme significance to, i even remember asking god in a prayer to make it so they would be available in heaven.

so yeah games mean an awful lot to me, especially this one.

part of me only wishes people had done something when NCSoft threatened and canned Exteel. the game just needed some tweeking to be more marketable..

anyways, if CoH and CoV are reinstated I will definitely supply the devs with the whip melee demo I've been working on.

Is that an in-game demo, or something you put together in another program?

another program, But It's open source and I can port it to any format they need.

right now it's just a rigged softbody whip, still need to animate the attacks.

anyways thats offtopic and just yet another thing to look forwards to.

Edit, let me rephrase that, it is in an actual game environment but not city of heroes.

Well, looking at a menu in the game isn't the same as "pigg diving."

I do remember hearing that it some shape shifting or something in it. Wonder what that could have turned into?

At the very least I can pick his brain on what the market looks like from the inside for that kind of venture in this market.
Just got home now. We had a long talk and he said the venture capital market right now has been contracting, but after telling him about the situation with as many details as I have (which isn't a lot), he did say that investors either private or institutional should show signs of interest based on the fact that a lot of the infrastructure could potentially be maintained and a marketable product with a black track record acquired. He's going to try and get me a list of a few people and firms he knows of in the NorCal area but no promises. At the very least, some positive words from a big financial insider is good.

That he's willing to even go that far to try and help rescue City of Heroes is awesome. Thank you for getting the word out to guys like him!

If you and/or him manages to pull that off, PM me - it might come in handy combined with Titan Network plans.

At this time I need any glimmer of hope I can get. This game has been my Bastion. It's where I go when the times get rough. They have been very rough lately; even before the announcement. I lost a good friend two weeks ago. It was sudden, and unexplained; his heart just up and stopped. I've been in terrible mourning since.

Then suddenly in the midst of news about the biggest update to the game--believing that the game was stronger than its ever been--it's all been shut down. Too bad, so sad; all the work you have all done in the past year and more is never seeing the light of day.

I'll take any hope I can get right now.

Well, if anything does manage to come up, I hope the devs can find ways to let us show our desire/involvement! Certainly, I've given up on boycotts as a means of showing displeasure, but thanks to Kickstarter and other things, I found I'm more than happy to engage in BUYcotts (ie, you buy something to show support).

I've been a customer of NCSoft since 2005, and have been pretty happy overall! Yes, and I played Tabula Rasa, Exteel, and Dungeon Runners, which were all shut down. But, I've played other games as well, both from NCSoft (Aion, Lineage II, Guild Wars) and games from other companies as well as other platforms (web, smartphones, consoles). Its NOT a zero-sum equation - there doesn't have to be a winner and a loser.

So, I've been signing the petitions, will send my letters, and if there's somewhere useful I can throw money, I'll do that too. As a player since i4 with most every booster they came out with prior to Freedom, many of the games (COH, COV CE, Architect Edition, Going Rogue), etc., I'd be happy to contribute a bit more. And, I'd be willing to /lose/ a few perks to make sure any new business plans are more viable (sorry, but in retrospect I think Paragon Rewards gave away too much for free on the top, but was too restrictive on the bottom).

If nothing else, I hope all these efforts show the Devs just what an amazing job they did. What an an amazing thing they helped create, what an amazing community they helped foster.

Our community is AWESOME.

No matter what else happens, nothing can take that away from us.

Thank you very much for taking the initiative here. Your friend's words give hope, which is a valuable thing for all of us right now.

Er, wouldn't it be better to actually tell Paragon Studios?

It's good to hear -something-

I actually have hope. Not a ton but for someone who is pretty pessimistic about this kinda stuff it's huge.

Assuming the debs WANT to keep the game going I think there is a definite shot. It's already made, they have the most loyal fan base I've ever seen in an MMO, and (most importantly for investors) e game was MAKING MONEY (which is the main reason why I have no idea what happened...why get rid of one of the few MMOs that is actually in the BLACK?!?).

As some others, I'd be willing to invest if they need capitol. I definitely not a millionaire or even have hundreds of thousands to throw around but I'm fairly sure I could help. If any des wanna talk PM me guys.

Looking forward to hearing more. Let's do this people!!! How can I conquor Paragon City if there IS no Paragon City...

Get your contacts to contact Paragon Studio ASAP, the clock is ticking! Make the call yourself to Paragon Studios right in front of your contact and hand the phone over to him.

Based on the WL2 kickstarter, with an assumed number of contributers at 13,000 people, at 47$ each (the average an individual contributed to WL2), we would generate $611,000, which is barely enough to be noticeable.

Unforunately, you're misreading the data - the figure of 9 million is the number of accounts that have been created in the entire 8 years the game has been running - and that figure also counts trial accounts.
The most players CoH has ever had was 200k+ around the launch of CoV.
Any donation plan is going to need quite a bit more than just 1 dollar per player.
