  1. sigh, another magisterium trial I'll have to miss, that was only stage 1 that finished downloading.. got 2 stages to go..

    stage 2 downloaded, waiting on stage 3, I might be done for 9pm eastern ntil then have fun without me.

    sigh 25% stage 3... I guess I'll try again next week..
  2. Hi all emergency, my harddrive is toast on my main computer, I'm on my laptop atm, I need to install CoH in order to play tonight, hopefully I can do it in time.

  3. I apologize for the last itrial I had to bail out on due to Work calling me in.. I have no work on sundays however.

    So this sunday the 21st Eastern USA time from 8PM to 10 PM I will be forming and doing Magisterium trials, and would hope people would join me.

    we can do other trials while we wait if we don;t have enough people for magi.

  6. 9 PM eastern time, tomorrow tuesday the 16th there will be another run of the magisterium trial, I hope for more people to show up this time, on monday we were able to run the trial 2 times however ran out of time before we could give cole the old heave ho.

    Meet in Dark Astoria at 9 Pm eastern with a VIP account on a LV 50 toon with destiny and lore unlocked but you don't need to have a power on each.

    you will get advanced incarnate experience towards your hybrid slot as well as threads and astral merits and empyrean merits ETC.

    so come one come all.
  7. This monday evening the 15th of october, there will be a magisterium trial held on protector at 9:00 PM Eastern US time.

    The Magisterium Trial is only for VIPs who have LV 50 toons with destiny and lore slots unlocked (don't have to be slotted)

    The trial will get you Advanced incarnate XP towards your Hybrid slot, as well as astral and empyrian merits yadda yadda.

    be there before or at 9 PM, the quicker we get assembled the quicker we can finish, if theres enough time maybe we can do more than one run. (and hopefully unlock everyone's hybrid slot)

    the trial already has a tank and a mastermind confirmed for attendance.

    think a march in real life could actually work if we planned it for the end of november, it doesn't have to be in DC, it just needs to be somewhere where it will influence lots of people.

    just need to organize it to give everyone enough time to get there.
  9. not to crash the party but there are lots of people on separate servers, not to mention, who's attention will we catch doing only this?

    may I suggest Livestreaming it to VOD and sticking it on youtube? that and I think a real march with real people would demonstrate this issue better.

    why not march through somewhere like Washington DC or someplace, you know get attention for our cause on a national or even world level.

    we could call it the Million Person Super Walk calling to the US government for help to assert our claim to our beloved city of paragon. we are it's citizens and the koreans have no right to take away our city!

    I had a friend who ran a Huge manga site and forum, the only thing he requested was money for the server, he was on british welfare due to disability. he'd never take money for himself.

    Basically, the devs could just change the title of the game and make a direct port to a new set of servers, revisions to the game to make it noticeably different from CoH could be according to the Plan Z's philosophy of updates needed to attract the new asian market.

    the devs also need enough pay/ help as they can get to keep themselves above water while making the necessary changes.

    though the pay could realistically come from the current pay to be VIP system and shop.

    I sent something similar to this as a message to the ask a question staff at NCSoft;

    I recently got my girlfriend to play CoH, she's from china and she loves it.

    I just created an account for her separately and IF the game is continued I'll make it VIP paying for the content.

    secondly the main thing, her characters are in my account, so IF the game is continued can we have the option to Copy characters from one account to another with-in the same master account?

    obviously it would be mandatory to change the name of one of the characters and pay for the name change fee.

    another program, But It's open source and I can port it to any format they need.

    right now it's just a rigged softbody whip, still need to animate the attacks.

  19. Well this sounds hopeful, that there are talks happening, what would be great through all this is if the devs could gain full ownership to the title so we never have to worry about this sort of thing again.

    the shock of the news has worn off to me, but it's still in my heart. I know I'm not anyone important when it comes to CoH/CoV development but I was pleasantly surprised at the level of activism this event has triggered. I'm so used to dealing with cowards who shrivel-up into little mice when someone 'royally shoves one' on them. I was like "right on! a petition! saves me from starting a riot"

    I wish I would have been able to express my full view of this situation in my signing of the petition but I was low on time on a library computer (am in midst of travels)

    To tell the truth, back in the 80-90's I was one of those kids that Super nintendo and my game saves were something of extreme significance to, i even remember asking god in a prayer to make it so they would be available in heaven.

    so yeah games mean an awful lot to me, especially this one.

    part of me only wishes people had done something when NCSoft threatened and canned Exteel. the game just needed some tweeking to be more marketable..

    anyways, if CoH and CoV are reinstated I will definitely supply the devs with the whip melee demo I've been working on.

  22. Sorry for the double post.

    I was messing around recently and figured out how to do a low-poly soft-body whip with very little code, it's mostly just rigging. As it's used it will take into effect air dampening of movement and deflection objects I suppose a box could be placed around each player/enemy and set to deflection that would allow players to interact with the whip's length as it's extended.

    secondly, I got no response from the devs, I only contacted one though, but it appears I was ignored.. or maybe she was just too busy to have time to respond to such a complex issue.

    when I get time I will make an .exe demo of a real-time whip, I'll just use characterkit as a base to save time so I don't have to model or rig a character. (goes to re-download it.)

    Time is tight for me, I am currently taking care of business in the USA, soon I will be off to Scotland for other important things and britain after that..

    then I will be back in the USA for 2 months with some time to work on things, followed by a return to Scotland, so I am quite busy. expect the demo sometime in October.

    I can't view facebook, I've been teaching english in china for a year, china blocks facebook youtube and anything similar.

    soon I will leave though It sound like I missed the very event I needed to chime in on, if anyone could post on facebook for me that would be great, as for the careers page I saw it. I applied but maybe I was too late.. only wish they'd give me a chance lol.

    I used to do speed modelling contests, could build an entire anime character in 8 hours from scratch.

    Your suggestion for an Earth Judgment is definitely like some of the things I try consider when making powers. I personally loved Avatar’s take on Earth-bending, and how it definitely had a more reactive feel to it as opposed to being some kind of mind control over the element. Unfortunately however, I often come late in the process to setting up powers, so by the time I get it, it already has all the (character) animations and behavior set in place. This is not to say that I can’t push a little when I feel it necessary to change it, but I can’t do that often. I would say Design (synapse) is the best place to send your suggestion for that, as they are the ones that usually drive the powers through and gives the animator a direction.

    Morgan- All great ideas for CC and regular Emotes! Definitely noted!

    SnowZone- Changing the color pallete would affect everyone's color selections, and from what I hear, people don't like that very much. Lets just cross our fingers that I may get some scheduled time for alternate FX on these older powersets some day. And keep your eyes out for Nature Affinity :P

    Vyver- I heard somewhere that hair over one eye is becoming a leading cause of eye stigmatisms, you really want your hero to be flawed? *wink* In all seriousness though, hair options would be a great request for Dink in the "All Things Character Art" thread.

    I've never met you before on the site or in game but, I was told of your existence recently and thought I'd say hi.

    I'm currently a self employed game developer working on an 'indie' title yet to be announced.

    anyways, I'm kinda straight-forwards about my intentions; I'm trying to make whip melee and subsequent other possibly ranged or control based powersets because I really want to see it in game.

    I emphasize 'make' because I'd like to do the modelling, rigging, texturing and coding. sadly I'm not part of paragon studious so, I don't know what file formatts the cryptic engine supports.

    anyways I'm sure I can do it because I've done this sort of thing before for my last animation, putting it into a GE should be simple for me. and it wont cost much video mem, processor allocation or many polies.

    any chance of telling me a suitable file formatt for the set-up?

    right now I can export to fbx 3ds (not max) and unity (as well as others). for scripting I can definitely get python scripts if necessary.

    I'm not certain since I've never asked them specifically about it but I think there are several Devs with Paragon Studios that don't have a degree in Game Development.

    So, there goes your "it's a matter of principle" argument with regard to requiring a degree.

    No, their Careers page isn't currently listing anything with Animation in the name of the position, but what would it hurt to send in your resume and maybe list some of your ideas. Or apply for another position that you might meet the qualifications for and prove your worth to the company then pitch your ideas.

    Alternatively, start up conversations with some of the Devs that post here that deal with Animation. Honey Badger comes to mind immediately of the current team. Perhaps through discussions of ideas you might pique his interest enough that they consider hiring you on a temp contract that could turn into something more long term.
    thanks for the advice, I might consider some of this, I recently applied to paragon studios as a character animator, they had an opening.

    oh well.
