  1. I'll be there, and I'll bring the Emp!

    Sakura Sensei (Emp/Psi Defender)

After getting to Synapse's stand, Sakura saw that there were two catgirls on the team. So we swapped in Nekotech, an equivalent level Emp to SAVE THE CATGIRLS!

And a good time was had by all!

  2. To quote Ataru Moronboshi, the unluckiest and most lecherous boy in the universe: "MINE, MINE, MINE!!! They're ALL Mine!" (Hitting on anything that's humanoid, cute and female.)
"Sorry, Shivan-chan*, and Hami-chan**, but that see-thru look isn't quite what I had in mind."

    * Daughter of the leader of the Coming Storm invasion force.
(Sorry, that story idea has already been used as the inspiration for one of the most successful Manga/Anime series in history, Urusei Yatsura aka Those Obnoxious Aliens.)

** aka O-Hami, daughter of the biggest slime monster in the known universe.
  3. I've always thought about getting an apartment in the building just east of the Talos train station... plenty of shopping, Pocket D for dancing, a nice beach to tan on, all sorts of water-based activities to do, a nice casino nearby and a very close base access point when needed.

The local scum is fairly easy to handle, and when unwanted out-of-town visitors show up, it just takes a minute to group up and escort them from the area.

Wonder why nothing grows on top of the hill near the train station? Couldn't be because we regularly kick Rikti butt there with others, could it?

Corrected info is given in 3rd message posted, due to the NCSoft rep miscalculating the shutdown time. But he did verify that we'll be playing thru Nov 30th.

According to the post listed above, the server shutdown time will be at 30 Nov 2012 11:59:59 PM PST.

For those of us on East Coast time, that is 1 Dec 2012, 2:59:59 AM.
  5. I'm giving Revolution a shot, but things are not looking well for the survival of the show as it stands right now. 15 years after the collapse of civilization as we know it, and they're dressing like they just went shopping at the mall. (Granted, assuming a massive percentage of the population dies off, there may be caches of untouched goodies available for pilfering for years.)
It won't just be the folks on total life support who will die off, but those on continuing medication treatment as well. (Raises hand - Inherited Hypertension aka High Blood Pressure) And chances for survival would be slim with even relatively minor wounds due to infection and lack of proper treatment.
The killing issue (in my mind) as others have said, the characters are doing some awfully stupid things assuming they went thru the 15 years preceding the start of the show's future timeline.

Last year I read One Second After (written by William R. Forstchen) and I have to say it honestly frightened me. Why? Because it avoided 99% of the Hollywood glamorization of the Post-Apocalyptic scenario survivors. I'll admit that some aspects of the presented reality got stretched a bit, but that's a common occurrence in storytelling. You want a realistic treatment of the Post-Apocalyptic scenario? Read or listen to this one... and it only covers the first year after an Electro-Magnetic Pulse event occurring in North America.

Info on the book is available at: http://www.onesecondafter.com/ as well as Amazon.com and Audible.com (for the audiobook adaptation).

No, Time is what this game is running out of... Patience is what the players never had.

I've been reading the forums at Titan Network... there are a lot of things going on if you read between the lines of the development ideas being discussed.

Looking forward to Oct 12, whatever the secret is.

Right now I'm cataloging all my chars with SentinelPlus hopefully for either scrapbooking purposes or inspiration/use in the Spiritual Successor game.

Best of luck to all who are staying, personally I'm weaning myself off of this game. I love playing support types too much to stand not being able to find a team, due to the Incarnate / Non-Incarnate schizm, which is one of the things which I feel has assisted in the death of this game.

I currently have 2 VIP accounts, so I can assist myself to an extent in mission runs, but it's still just soloing.. and I have many much better games and things to do in RL that I can solo.

    Where are you?

    Added.

Grove City, just SW of Columbus, Ohio. Nice little town.

ALL AT ONCE!!! A real Target rich environment... grin

Oh and lets not forget the Rikti, Zombies, Snowmen, Random Giant Monsters all of em targeted on an area that they believe has the only way to survive the upcoming Apocalypse.
  10. I'm not done yet... I've currently got 18 50s in my stable, (listed in my Sig) and I'd say only about 5% (if that much) of their XP was due to any form of PLing.

After hearing about the impending Doomsday, I decided it would be the decent thing to do in going back to my original server, Infinity, to give those who have waited so patiently their run to 50. (I'm sorry guys, I ran into a great team of regular players on another server who we stayed with until we ALL got our 1st 50.)

I got the first character I ever created in the game, Ramu from 41 to 46 over the weekend, either by teaming or soloing when there weren't many people on to team up with. I've also run Sugoi, my original Emp today, on various TFs that appreciated the buffs I pumped out to keep em kicking butt. In doing so, went from 36 to nearly 39 in just one day of hectic action. (And I didn't get to activate Vengeance even once, although some of em dared me to do it, grin.) My response was "Ok! No heals for you!" but I couldn't bring myself to ignore the dropping HP bars.

Yes, I would. I've run 2 VIP accounts (1 for 8 years, 1 for 4 years) and 1 Free account to feel what that experience was like.

Oh yeah.. 447 alts.. I've started from scratch quite a few times.. only 18 of em are 50s. And I even play low levels w/o using the Vet powers just to see if I can still handle em the old way!
  12. Melissa,

Here's an interesting discussion I found while checking MMORPG.com's forum user reactions to the upcoming CoH/CoV shutdown.

    http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cf...City-Of-X.html

To give you the general jist of the discussion, people complained about how much money they wasted ON OTHER GAMES... and ALL of the CoH/CoV players unanimously decreed that no matter the individual costs involved, they felt that they had NOT wasted a cent.

Count me among those very satisfied customers, 1 active account since Apr 04, another since 08 (for the new concepts I had to try out), and a free account I spent a bit of cash on to witness the difference in the game from that (somewhat) limited viewpoint.

All in all, approximately $2000 in the last 8-1/2 years, and not a penny wasted.

Please tell all your co-developers (as I'm telling you now) YOU DID GREAT! IT'S OUR FAULT for not beating the bushes to get more subscribers in the game so that NCSoft would not have to take the option they did. It's OUR fault...

Thank you all very much for making a old comics fan's dreams come true... to be able to fly like a bird and stop an ongoing onslaught of evil deeds. To lend a helping hand, via heal, buff, blast, or hold... or to just jump into a fight at nearly impossible odds and thru use of team/solo tactics, timing, inspirations... TRIUMPH!

As an old time fan, I've seen so many Crisis events, Reboots, Re-Imaginings tear apart all that I've grown up with or experienced... but this is much more personal, because I didn't just witness it, I am part of it, and word of the end of the world has become public knowledge.

I've seen many people just decide to walk away... I can see that even in the CoH/CoV world... giving up and spending their time on what's important to them. I just can't do that.

Nov 30th is going to be a true day of mourning for me, the day I shut down all my NCSoft gaming accounts, remove the other NCSoft games from my system and erase the NCSoft launcher from my desktop. But I will be there!

As with other corporations I've dealt with in real life, loyalty to the company is usually quite one-sided. Totally expected out of the employee, and quite fleeting (if existing at all) from the managerial types.

Perhaps some of my characters or their children may escape the destruction of Paragon City to re-appear on the shores of some other reality, but even then, they may be disturbed by the event that took them from all they knew and loved... never knowing for sure if the new reality they take part in will survive much longer past the destruction of their original reality.

I can see the scene in my mind where my main character, an Empathy Defender, gets help from her sister/evil twin arch-rival, a Bots/FF MM, who in an exhausting effort, merges all her Bots in order to create a living craft to keep both of their young daughters alive thru their transferred combined heals, buffs and bubbles, surviving the trip between dimensions long enough to arrive in a new world of challenges and adventures. Joining/forming a Paragon City Avengers League, showing that all hope is not lost, and in remembrance of all that has gone before.

But it won't be the same...

Thank you again, Melissa and all the rest of your team for all the efforts you've made in making your dreams as well as ours come true.l

Fighting on until the end of all that is...

    Sugoi-chan

    Darn! Beat me to it!

I've always thought Talos Island needed some Beachside Volleyball action.

12 more days till 63 months... grin
  15. Ah the 80s text-based games... where's the Excedrin???

I've seen the C64 CoH avatar Icon on the Forums... that might have almost worked as a side-scroller... I heard you played a character named MageTank.

And I've seen the CoH Atari Cartridge label on one of the sites... but they never got to the CoV one... unfair!!!

So was the first computer version on Tape Cassette or floppy disc?

I seem to remember Compute! magazine starting a Champions PnP conversion to C64 game via a monthly column, but they never finished it... and so many columns of code to type in manually!!!

.. then again, that might have all just been in my over-stressed and fragmented mind...
  16. I just love this discussion... I can remember the HOWLING that occurred when the game started up, and you couldn't Fly, SJ, SS or TP right off the bat.

Cutting the travel power down to level 6 seems a nice compromise on the part of the Devs in my mind... 1st level would have been nicer... ah, but that's what Kheldians are for!

Oh, and please re-read the opening statement... 60 Month players aren't getting an extra power slot... we'll be using our normal 6th level power slot for our use as we see fit, travel power or non-travel power.

What we will be getting for free is another Character Slot to be used on the server of our choice, so we can expand our Altitis.

So many Alts, so little time!
  17. Had an Idea... (dangerous things, those Ideas)...

If people want the PPD Powersuit ingame, how about making it a reward for those who have run radio missions in X number of areas? Something akin to the Task Force Commander Badge, but give em a (police) badge and the costume as an Icon Option.

Just a suggestion from another player whose chances of going to Seattle are slim to none.
  18. About a year ago, I suggested the creation of a Task Force to rescue Hero One and the others who went to the Rikti Homeworld.
    Looking forward to this one!
  19. Sounds almost like a possible origin for Yomiko Readman aka "The Paper", the heroine from the Original Anime Video "Read or Die".

R.O.D is an action-laden suspense modern day scifi thriller, with a large touch of James Bond-ish style music and visual sequences, and great character interaction.

And ironically, Yomiko is from "The Library"... literally "Ex Libris"

Info about the series and other links at:
    http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...ime.php?id=819

    Read or Die (OAV)

Related anime: R.O.D -The TV- (sequel)

    Alternative title: R.O.D.

Age rating: Teenagers (May contain bloody violence, bad language, nudity)

Genres: Adventure, Drama, Historical, Mystery, Science Fiction, Shounen

Plot Summary: Yomiko Readman is "The Paper" a secret underground operative for the British Library with the incredible power of complete control over paper, including the ability to make it solid as steel. She is called to duty when a book that could spell the end of the world is stolen, and she must take it back. Going with two other operatives, she attempts to take it back and save the world.

If you haven't seen this OVA and follow on TV series, I highly recommend that you watch it.
  20. I've always thought it was annoying how quickly a team would break up when they stopped doing the highest level team members missions (set at Invincible, naturally!)...

"WHAT! We're not getting maximum XP!!! This team sucks!"

It ain't all about the XP, folks... as a semi-retired Emp/Psi Defender, when I'm running my Scrapper/ PB or WS, I go out of my way to ask lower chars if they need help running their own missions to keep their contacts active... it does make a difference for the "traditional" support ATs.

If Max XP was all I was worried about, I'd have at least 10 level 50s by now.

No matter what I'm playing, I'm there to help the "Team".
  21. During the 10th+ battle (with no team deaths at all) one or more of the damage dealers says,

    "BRB, bio!"

... and STILL no one dies during the fights...

Honest, it's happened a few times in the last month!!

Any other good team events out there?
  22. Supergroup Name: H.O.T. - Heroes of Tomobiki

Website: None at this time, but planning on it

Leader or Recruiting Officers: Sugoi, Koryand'r, or Death Witch

Preferred Method of contact: ingame email

Guild Description: Friendly, mature gamers who enjoy good teamwork between players no matter the levels. 30+ members at this time on all levels, and someone on line nearly all the time. Many of us have a few alts, and can bring in help for nearly any level. Brownie points for those who recognize where Tomobiki is from... grin
