They know exactly how many playeres played City of Heroes in the last month. It's not a miracle that everyone is left now in that way how they handle it. When any puplisher is intressted in keep the heroes going then they will know this, I'm sure.
-
I can understand that this dosn't matter at all when everything will be deleted end of November, so the players concentrate on other games. When I'm in the game, then because I wanted to play a little bit with SG mates. Maybe I didn't see them anymore when the game goes off, but to reach a level or anything else in the game... this is just pointless in my eyes right now.
I'm sure they will come back when an angel sings the rescue song, but right now I only see a hellfire... -
My first main and my second character was Technerdoc...
She was more a cyborg, a technical test object. So I tried to use always some from the parts on others costumes, this was hard. Technerdoc was a controller with gravity and empathy in a time where the servers was full with players. There was three character you need in every team: A stone tank (Must be a stone tank! What, you got a fire tank and want to tank? Ha, Ha maybe in you next life...), a kinetic-toon (Because the stone tank can't move then) and an empath for healing (A rad-toon too was the jackpot in this time). So I have a lot to do and don't had to wait long fo a team offer. Later when the game changed I found out that I was absolutly useless. Everyone can rezz and teleport, endu problems wasn't anymore the problem. But I had a problem. I can't do anything by myself and help was hard to find on the german server Zukunft. No chance in doing the Dark Astoria act and a lot of other missions. Hard that even SG mates didn't wanted to help me, they concentrate on her own things. I also didn't want to transfer her anywhere else, because you are always thinking that someone can come back one day and well... It was her home server... So I concentrate more and more on a other toon: Lina Moonshine.
Linas home server was Defiant and I build her in a time where we didn't know anything from Going Rogue. The Isles was full with this "I-am-evil-toons". Everyone in black with horns on the head coming right from the hell. So I was thinking about to do something new. The story was that her father is an inventor and Lina is sneaking into the lab, steal the robots and equipment and become Line Moonshine the might superheroine! She was the first (and only) superheroine on the Rogue Isles. Blow away buildings to make room for a supermarket (We have to go forward with the buisness you know?) and fighting the evil forces from Dr. Longbow (Hey, they wear red, so they have to be evil!). The cossie in pink and with the F10 keybind "Full Moonshine Power", I always had mysterious comments: "Hey we are on the Rogue Isles here!", "I know, and the Rogue Isles really need some heroes!". Oh damn, this was a funny time. When Going Rogue was out I wanted her as a real hero in Paragon, so I changed the sides and the story a little bit. I had a bind on left-shift-key to change the cossie with a flash into the "Moonshine Power Suit" with rocket boots and activate the fly power too, this was great. The robots all had names from moons from Saturn, Jupiter and so on, the big one was Luna of course. The moonshine power she always was talking about was just force fields, also a technical gimmick. The powers was just perfect. Good to solo and great for teaming. No wonder that I was thinking about to made this one to my new main...
This are characters I will really miss, because I can't re-build them anywhere else like this... -
I'm very happy with Star Treck Online right now...
I'm absolutly not a Star Treck Fan, but this game is not bad at all. It's different and not such an Fantasy Crap you played over and over again (...and every game feels like it's the same you played before). Developed by Cryptic it has a nice character costumization too.
Yes, when City of Heroes is closing end of November then I can think about it to spent some money over there, but right now I'm absolutly happy with the free to play option. I take a look at The Secret World too, I hear a lot of nice things from this.
To bad I already bought Guild Wars 2 before this crash here, because some friends played this game too, but well... Right now I don't feel to play something from NC Soft and the game is not that burner everyone is talking about. Kill something here... and something there... and over there too... zzzZZZzzz...
It's hard. When you played so many years City of Heroes then you always miss some options in other games: The Community, the chat system, the Character Costumisation so many power sets and so on and so on... Champions Online is... not that what City of Heroes was. Let's say it not in such a hard way... DC Universe Online is not a bad game with a nice presentation, but soon you find out that only the Indoor Missions are really nice, the other missions are most time crap and everyone does his own thing and is speaking a single word because most of the players are hanging on the PS3... -
Oh I had an Amiga and I loved this mashine. Yes the end of Commodore and City of Heroes has something similar, in both situation I was absolutly down when I heard it and always you was thinking "This can't be the end, it just HAS to be go on..." to bad at the end there wasn't any rescue...
I hope this time we see a happy end...
When you like the music then check Radio Paralax out. They play a lot of old music from computer games. I listen to it the most times when I played City of Heroes... Damm now I'm in tears again..

It really was easy, just leave comment there (...and of course I clicked the button too)

Nice to hear that something is going on there, but right now nothing happend so far. We can only dance when we are reading that we can celebrate christmas this year with the game, but to reach this goal we can't go into the sleeping mode right now.
This would surprise me when Paragon Studios goes indepentend with the game. I also think that no one from the big players will take over this game. Big companys wants big names for her games from Marvel or DC and the game is also too old for them. The best what we can hope is when someone from the smaller publishers is intressted and NC-Soft sell it because they want to do "something good" at the end and don't need it anyway on her "new way" they want to go... -
How about that City of Heroes 2 is in development from an other company and not Paragon Studios? Of course it's stupid, but still possible. It's just like Combat said: The fanbase never supported the idea of a new game while this one is out...
...but when I think about it then I don't think that we will see an City of Heroes 2 from NC-Soft, so I don't know why they want to keep the IP just to make sure no one else will have it... -
Quote:Do you really think the community can handle this? I know we are great and the best MMO-Community out there, but made a entire new game sounds a little bit to optimistic for me. This is a lot of work with a lot of money and this will need years to complete. People maybe forget it in the matter of time or just give up on the way...We'd have to be very careful about making changes form the current style of combat - it's one of the key elements that's often brought up when players say what they like best about CoH.
The design goal of any spirritual successor would have to be "CoH, but even better".
Of course this an absolutly dream. Doing a Golden Girl Taskforce, visit Liberty Park and show someone that we win at the end, but...
Well, I'm a little bit skeptical with this... -
Yes, this is right what we need: The press. E-Mails and letters will not have much effect, they will just delete them or throw them into the trash. It's not the first game they closed, so they know how the fans will react, but the world have to know what's going on here and how NC-Soft throws his customers out of the game.
A lot of people played this game, maybe not now but in the past and for someone it was the first online game (For me too), so this is really a chance to get the support we need and this is good in finding a new puplisher when they see how much people still like the game. -
I like this. Even when the game goes down I still have my charcters always with me, this is cool...
-
NC-Soft can fire them and Sony can give them a new job. Maybe they are still in contact, you can't know...
I don't see a big problem there... -
Witch company is taking over the City of Heroes fancise dosn't matter for me or to say it with the words from Twinshot: They are on the "cool-guys-table" for me then...
Maybe we are lucky and NC-Soft will sell it. All in all it's much better to make a little bit of money with it at the end then just switch the servers off. Let us hope that they really need a dollar right now... -
Where there any plans to bring anyone back like Sister Psyche, or was she really dead?
-
I'm sure there are some companys out there that really want take City of Heroes over, even in germany where the game is not much present there was news about it and no one can understand what's happening there, but when NC-Soft really wanted to sell the game, then they don't fire the entire team so fast. They will tell that the game is closing on 30.Nov and then when nothing else happen they fire the team. Bounty Bay Online for example, published here from Gameforge wanted to close this game and now it's going on because Snail Games take it over. So when even such an small old title finds a buyer then I'm sure for City of Heroes is not only one offer on the table from NC-Soft, but did they really want to sell it? I hope for an happy end, but NC-Soft never selled any IPs so far. They just close them, ignore everything what happens after it and this is the reason why they are losing money right now because the costumers remember this. Why starting with Wildstar when you can't know that the game is still up after 3 years of playing and paying for this?
I'm also sure that Paragon Studios don't have to look long for an other job. They do a great work here and when a publisher can't have City of Heroes because NC-Soft wont sell it, so why don't take the team then and let them work on a new game? All in all I'm not so sure that this was the best idea to close the game in that way... time will tell... -
I don't think that NC Soft will give up the IP. There must be an other way then closing the entire game, other games are not so popular and they are still online. They don't sell Auto Assault or Tabula Rasa, they just close them and that's it. Maybe one or two people are crying but who cares? Soon the players will forget it and on Wildstar or Guild Wars 2 or whatever they are all coming back when the hype is right. That's the way a publisher is thinking, it's just money that makes the world go round.
Maybe some from Paragon Studios really have a heart lost in Paragon, but did they really want's to make buisness with NC-Soft, a company that fires the entire team, or isn't is better to do something new? Something without license or publisher troubles. Maybe they really have something what they was working on, so this can be a nice start and they have something that is really great and what not everyone had to offer: Us. A great community what does everything when they can help them, I'm sure about this. Maybe it's not Pargon City anymore then but who cares?
They have nothing to lose anymore so maybe a Kickstarter Campain with a new game will work and when this will not work... Well, then they still can go to Electronic Arts and do Free to play browser games, but when this is really true what they all said here, that the team was so good and they loved what they do, then try it and I promise we will be there to help you. -
Hi there everyone,
I was very motivated to do a new act in the AE building, something for low level characters, something for players where the serwer trial is not an option and want to do other things than Matthew Habashy, but that is not the point...
So I started and in the first mission you have 5 boxes to destoy, set then in there with the "Destructible Object" option, no enemys around them and what happens? I can't destroy them! It say "Invalid Target".
Did I do something wrong, or is this a bug? And when it's a bug how many years I have to wait for a fix?
When someone want to see what I mean with his own eyes the acts name is "Liberty" (There is only one mission) and the ID is 551660, you just have to knock out two Hellions first and then immortal boxes will appear... -
I still don't get it. I don't even know this Jack Emmert guy, but they kill characters from him because there was any troubel in the past. What in the hell has this to do with me when I like Sister Psyche? And this hole story act... I don't think I play this again sometimes. When you want to read the story you can't play this with any character. I still got problems with Ghost Widow and my mastermind in the first mission and that Lord Recluse and company is playing the hero now and save the world goes not in my little mind. The Freedom Phalanx looks like fools there. But the mission maps have a nice setting.
-
I like Sister Psyche and I was a little bit shocked that they kill an other character too after Statesman. When the developers have a problem with the one who creates them, I don't get it that is a reason to kill them. What is coming in the final part, the big end? Who dies there? Ms Liberty is the rest of the Statesman family, come on kill them all. That the players know this characters since the launch of the game this dosn't matter, when they are from this evil develover...
And when Yin will replace Sister Psyche then there are two of them in the game. The younger one in Faultline and the older one in Independence Port, this is not working like that. When they push this old boring TF without an change to Aurora Borealis then I'm really disapointed. All this trouble for... nothing? Just to kill characters? -
Quote:The act isn't over, there is still one more left and this means when Statesman and Sister Psyche is now dead, then there must be a big blow left for the final part and this scares me for a little bit. Comic characters don't have to die like that, this is just not right. But we're not cutting ties to the past, we still have the rest of the Freedom Phalanx, which is from the start of the game, as is Statesman.
This isn't cutting the ties to the past, if Positron and the rest of the Freedom Phaanx remain alive.
Kill them off, let player characters be the new Freedom Phalanx.
Even better, give players the option of being in the Freedom Phalanx SG or their own created supergroup! The FP will just have an unlimited number of spaces, stops you from joining another, and gives you access to the Freedom Phalanx supergroup chat channel!
\o/ -
I hear yesterday that the hole Statesman family is from Jack Emmert, so when this is really the reason then it's a matter of fact that Miss Liberty will die in the last part because she is the only one left now. So they kill three popular characters just because they don't like this guy? Absolutly stupid, isn't it?
I was always thinking that there must be something else behind this, something that will change the game, an rework of this old boring TFs for example or an new face for promotion for the website and the game... -
I have to do more tests but right now it looks like it really works better for me without the shadows. I never have big problems with the game and I play this game since many years but with I21 I have this memory crash every 5-10 Minutes and Atlas Park is an abolutly Horror Trip for me. Even a ship raid works much better then traveling over the center there...
